My friends and I got a discount voucher via a group buying site. We made our reservation with Amansinaya as early as Jan 31, 2012 for our visit on March 3, 2012. They have confirmed our reservation during the first week of February.
On our way, we were able to pass and see the nice amenities they have to offer and were excited to have a go at it.
We arrived before 2 PM. We talked to the receptionist and presented and vouchers. He said we should've arrived earlier because its already past the time for certain activities and we'll have to do them the next day. The voucher clearly states that check-in time is 2PM but we didn't argue with that. He also said that we will be staying in a "big kubo" (nipa hut) that is good for 40 pax (our group consists of 15 pax) and will be sharing it with another group.
We told them it's not acceptable because what is the point of making a reservation? We even reserved it a month's time ahead. We were not informed of these details and all we got was an "OK, your group is reserved".
The receptionist was surprised and then started to make phone calls. After 15 mins, he got back at us and told us that they have tents and we could use that. We outright refused, he said there are no more alternatives. We demanded to speak with his manager but he refused, saying we are not allowed.
He said that we can go ahead and do some activities first then we can settle the matter of lodging when we return. We refused to do any activity without settling in first.
He again excused himself and made another call. After some 20 minutes, he said they have 3 air conditioned rooms we can use if we are willing to add Php 2,000 for each room (approx 140 USD total).
We told them it is not our fault that we cannot check-in, if they have informed us that we will be sharing the place with another group before they OK'ed our reservation, we would've chose a different date and wouldn't be having this argument in the first place. We even rented shuttle service and some of us filed vacation leaves just for this trip.
We were getting tired and just demanded a refund for our vouchers and the shuttle service,
They then offered offered the AC room for free, but it was already 4PM and we're no longer interested in staying especially with the kind of treatment we got. The receptionist said they will only refund the shuttle service and we have to refund the vouchers from the company we bought it from. According to him, they don't have the petty cash do a refund (400 USD total). We told them that it's a blatant lie for a facility as grand as them to not have petty cash totaling that amount.
The scene went on for over 3 hours (time was around 5PM) and we were all getting tired and agitated and our group is seriously considering to call the cops/lawyer up when they finally agreed to issue a full refund.
TLDR; Amenities looked great, but its sadly ruined by the incompetent staff
