This was our 5th time staying at the Kedra.
On arrival we were given the grottist room, ground floor next to the rear door of the kitchen, this room had extra guests, cockroaches coming in from a hole in the bathroom door frame and lizards coming in from somewhere!! We eventually managed to change rooms.
The hotel has an "Executive Chef" so why has the menu both in the main restaurant and the sundowner snack bar not changed once in all the times we have visited?
Definitely not as clean as previous visits which is a shame.
No manager walking around chatting to the guests ( previous nice touch), in fact we never saw the manager once
I'm not sure why you have to pay €3 a day for the safe? Please explain, this works out at approximately £35 for two weeks !!!
All in all I don't think we will be coming back which is a terrible shame.

Arrived back after a 2 week holiday at the Louis Ledra Beach hotel, after a long delay due to air traffic control in France we arrived around 0130hrs to a warm welcome snacks and drinks. First impression at breakfast the next day was a little unsure if the food area in restaurant was a little small. How wrong we were there was food catering for all tastes and certainly the quality was excellent, All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, special mention for Niki in the restaurant and Demitris in the bar area, well done, definitely would recommend and yes we will be going back. Thank you, we were even waved off at the end of the holiday, hopefully it was not to make sure we were leaving. Thanks again.

Ledra Louis Beach Hotel
12-18 Sept Family Room with limited sea view

CHECK-IN: Prompt, staff friendly & polite. Some sweet snacks & drinks waiting in reception for arriving guests. Suitcases delivered to our room before we got to it, very fast.

Doors are key operated & have a LARGE key fob attached with your door number on. This fob also controls the lighting & air con operation, you will only get one. Key operated room safe costs 3 Euros per day (we used it).

ROOMS – compact (we were only 2 adults, no children). Our room, number 253, had a view of the opposite hotel, & sea view to the left if I leaned out slightly over the small balcony! View to the right was the main road with some bars/restaurants & a few shops.

Well equipped with plenty of drawers, shelving, wardrobe space & several hangers. Spare sockets for charging equipment (UK style, no adaptors needed). Good storage for suitcases, self-controlled air con, hairdryer (though it is fixed to the inside of a drawer), tea/coffee making facility & there is an ironing room located in the corridor. Mini fridge which is stocked daily with water, cola, 7up & apple juice, all part of the AI. Basic bathroom toiletries, but I take my own.

First night this room was noisy from the traffic & bars over the nearby road until 01:30am, so we asked to change at reception the next morning. They were VERY accommodating, showed us the room opposite ours (no. 236 & same family & partial sea view classification). It overlooked the outdoor restaurant, the main pool & the sea view beyond was great. Quiet, & the small balcony caught the sun for the whole day. Cleaned & prepared for us within the hour & took us a mere 10 minutes to ‘move in’. GREAT customer service.

I don’t think the family rooms actually give additional floor space, see measurements & layouts on the Louis Ledra website. If choosing again I probably wouldn’t opt for the family room as it just costs more.

STAFF – Our friendly room maid did a fantastic, & fast, job of cleaning the room, always long since done when we popped back about midday. They cleaned the poolside restaurant & pool area first, moving on to rooms once people started to surface so they were not clattering about in the corridors too early.

This is a very clean hotel, everywhere. Beach, pool & lobby bar well stocked, a cocktail list but most could prepare other things if you asked. All staff are helpful & friendly.

POOL/BEACH – Lifeguards in attendance at the main pool in front of poolside restaurant, small children’s pool & a third for adults only, a few sections of beach. Sandy but a lot of stones/rocks just inside the sea, slippery & not many people actually swam there. Other lifeguards are in attendance there but they are NOT connected to the Louis Ledra, & to be perfectly frank, they aren’t particularly attentive to what is going on in the sea (in my opinion).

Loads of sun beds & umbrellas, minimal additional shade from trees though. Long pool towels you can change twice per week. There is a fair element of ‘sun bed reservation’ going on, mainly the beach, the shady tree area, & all the beds immediately surrounding the pools. Ourselves in a prime position under the tree, plus a handful of others in prime positions on the beach, reserved the beds WITH OUR BACKSIDES ON THEM. But like holiday spots worldwide, there are always going to be those who stick nothing more than a towel out & don’t come back for hours, back to bed, breakfast, walking, whatever. Not good enough but there’s no real solution.

ENTERTAINMENT – The team were doing a good job. Different things you can participate in (or not) during the day. For some of our stay there was a short singing/dancing show by the pool, personally I would drop that altogether. Evening entertainment was pretty good on the whole, with external acts visiting for 10pm shows. Children’s entertainment first, followed at 9pm by the resident team singing & dancing to things like Grease, Abba (that one definitely needs more ‘polish’), Chicago, a lovely Irish dancing show, then followed by the external acts (fire show, hypnotist, that type of thing). For a small’ish resort it was pretty good.

FOOD – what can I say, saved the best until last. We found this outstanding, amongst the best we’ve had in any buffet anywhere. Different theme every night each week, well cooked, fresh & about as hot as you can expect on a buffet. Always kept looking appetising & dishes replenished frequently. The carved meat station had the most tender beef & lamb, ‘well done’ just how I like it. There were some separate areas with food for those with dietary requirements, check with the hotel. Air conditioning in the main restaurant could be a touch ineffective in some areas, but it’s about balance between keeping food hot & guests cool, very difficult.

Check your Welcome Info on arrival for the eating options & daytime nibbles etc. We only ate breakfast on departure day, & stuck to the lighter lunch choices at the poolside restaurant which had a basic hot selection, plus pizza, sandwiches/rolls & a very good salad choice (best coleslaw we’ve ever had), so can’t comment on main restaurant lunches. “Cupcake Saturday”, a lovely unexpected extra touch for guests. Quick rap on your door & member of staff will bowl in with a couple of cupcakes for the occupants to enjoy. Husband got caught out in only his underpants though, it was 5pm!

In our room on arrival we had a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil & a chilling bottle of sparkling wine in an ice bucket. A welcome gift for us labelled for ‘returning guests’, we really enjoyed that touch, though to be honest we aren’t returning guests, have never stayed in the Louis brand chain anywhere in the world & had never even heard of it before! Didn’t stop us enjoying the wine though. Another bottle was delivered a few days later on my birthday. Great customer service.

NEGATIVES – There’s only ONE of these! The poolside toilets, horrible. NOT dirty though (nothing in this hotel is dirty), but old, tired looking & way past their sell-by-date, & the ladies only has TWO toilets (with slatted doors – I hate those). Overdue refurbishment Louis Ledra!

Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, the staff, the customer service, the food & other facilities, & we will not hesitate to stay there again & recommend it to others.

Room tip: First night in 253, but next morning asked to switch. Offered 236 - excellent. If unhappy reception staff are very helpful.
