We were in the langdales for the day and were recommended the Brittania Inn by our bed and breakfast. We were treated to a lovely view outside and the weather even held until we had finished. It was a busy place but there were plenty of tables. We ate outside and ordered our food at the bar. They served us quickly and our food arrived promptly. The beer selection was a wide variety of local ales. We both ordered the fish and chips and were given some tender haddock, plenty of chunky chips, mushy peas and homemade tartar. We both ate everything. I then ordered the desserts. These were extremely tasty if a little costly. I possibly would forego these next time for the excellent beer.
We would happily return to the Brittania next time we are near. If only all local pubs had such a good selection of food and catered for their customers well. It was noticeable just how many locals also used the Britannia, which goes to show it deserves it's high ratings.
