Attended a wedding at oulton hall so was not my choice.
Having said that the venue was excellent the staff all that i met were first class couldnt fault them. The food served was just right roast beef dinner/breakfast, the beef was just right but not to everbodys taste abit rare but you carnt please all the people all the time when serving a block booking abit more gravy would have been nice the yorkshire puddings were prize winners. the only negative comments were about the bar prices abit over the top expensive but i guess you are paying for the suroundings you should be paying for a drink ? i am a cidar drinker so have come up against this before only bottled no draught so you pay through the nose 330ml bottle far too expensive but nothing you can do if that is your tiple. The rooms as they should be no faults there, if you were on the 1st / 2nd floor and not too good on your legs ask for a room near the lift the corridor seemed to go on for miles.
overall great place but out of my league ok for a one off ie wedding guest.

Stayed for 2 nights Easter weekend and had a lovely time, once again we could not fault the food or service, had breakfast in the room the first morning as there was a wedding and a golden wedding both on the Saturday and the hotel had put up signs stating that breakfast might be a bit busy so decided to give the dining room a miss on Sunday morning for that reason. Did not use the spa on this occasion although we have used it in the past and it is worth a visit. Looking forward to returning soon

My friend & I booked the spa & hotel for my birthday escape in February. I already knew hotel not top notch (bedrooms) but acceptable as getaway & nice location. We could not book in for our treatment until 4pm , as we were told spa opened late that day - so we planned a day in Leeds until we could go for our well deserved & so looked forward too spa treatments. We checked in hotel at 3.30 were not told to go to spa early if we had a booking. Arrived at spa at 3.50pm completed a form went for our treatment. My particular room was really cold i thought it may have to be that way incase the treatment made me too warm, so didnt comment - my friend in her room was asked if she would like temp high or low ?
treatment felt rushed/cold/uncomfortable - made me itch (have not been told as yet if treatments are hypo allergenic) when treatments were finished we were shown to relaxation room ?? my friend already in the room was facing the wall which i found odd , until i noticed the couple opposite in the same bed kissing ! the relaxation room is as big as a hospital ward..i.e you cannot escape a couple in a bed opposite doing this ? a staff member was in room at 1 point & we actually thought she had gone to get someone to speak to the couple NO SUCH LUCK.
when we left the room (walking around on dirty floors with bear feet , as there were no slippers available ) a disgusting hygiene matter to say the least. We stood at reception holding all our clothes/bags/boots as we has not been shown any lockers & waited to pay and leave. I was not well at the time so did not complain on the day - i did complain via email and was passed to a spa manager who called & offered a further stay to see if they could change our minds about the spa.
I emailed the manager back regarding a re book & concerns , after no response 1 week later. I contacted the person higher up i had dealt with to be told the spa manager was on holiday for 3 weeks ( a simple touch of a computer button "i am out of the office & will return on this date - you can direct your emails too **** ) is clearly not an option at de vere ? the person covering ignored my email & when i challenged this her response - i was going to get the manager to contact you when she came back ?
could you not have simply sent an email to say that ( the most basic customer service - reply to your customer / tell them what is happening )
an utter disgrace from start to finish & ruined what should have been a chance to re charge for 2 working ladies with children & stress galore.

We stayed for one night in March. We wanted a luxury spa break to fill a one night pre easter trip gap and, from the website, this hotel looked as if it would be perfect. We booked a suite and the cost was comparable with other De Vere hotels that we have stayed in. Also, I should say that I am a big fan of De Vere and my expectations were that this would be comparable to 1 Devonshire or Cameron House.
What a shock! The entire experience was a disaster. We ended up in a standard double because the suite was so bad but the price was reduced accordingly and we were not charged for some drinks after we received an apology in the restaurant. So, to be fair to the hotel, they tried to make amends. I have also been asked for further feedback so will keep this review short. Bullet points:
Avoid if seeking a spa break. This hotel states that it has a hydrotherapy pool. It does not, it has the standard small spa in the corner of the swimming pool. There is no drinks service available at the pool but that does not matter because there is nowhere to sit either. There are three loungers at the corner of a standard leisure centre pool attached to the hotel with coffee available in the gym. I would describe this hotel as having a pool and sauna/steam rooms but not a spa.
Avoid if seeking luxury. The public areas are just OK, the champagne bar is nice, the rooms are shabby. The food is just OK. Their pricing is way out in comparison with their offering.
Avoid the suites. This is worlds apart from the suites at other De Vere hotels. The cheap furniture is dented, chipped, wobbly and stained. There are broken and chipped tiles in the bathroom. The grouting is mould stained and dirty. The mini bar is empty. The toiletries are cheap.
The only positive - All of the hotel staff were very nice and the service was good.

We stayed for one night on 30th March 2013. The room was average to other hotels and we had a view that over looked over a alley way with kitchen dustbins, we kept the curtains closed. The room needs updating. We have stayed at other De Vere hotels and their was a wedding on there and a Wedding at this hotel also. The wedding guest just take up the bar lobby and the restaurant areas, the wedding guest are noisy and disruptive to other guest. We were having breakfast and the wedding guest were standing around saying their goodbye's to their guest while hotel guest were having their breakfast. The meal was average and the service was below standards expected from a hotel of this grade. The spa staff were friendly and the facilities like pool, steam room and sauna was excellent.

We will not be staying at a DeVere Hotels again as its nothing special and as they have on most weekends and holidays weddings at their hotel.

Watch out for the bill they seem to add Service charge on the final bill even when you have ask to be taken off.

The hotel grounds, and communal areas are simply stunning. Every member of staff we encountered were pleasant, polite and down to earth. The room we were in could do with a upgrade but it was clean and a great size - I suppose just compered to the rest of the hotel it seemed a bit tired. Excellent pool areas and overall a lovely stay. would definitely recommend it and would stay again

Stayed here Tuesday night for my wedding anniversary! Upon arrival the staff could not do enough to make us feel welcome. The spa facility's are clean and well maintained and the staff that work in the spa friendly. We had lunch in the champagne bar. Although a little pricey it was very nice and the setting is lovely ! We decided to have our evening mean in the claret jug, the waitress who served us was extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us without being overbearing, and the food was of good quality and served quickly !! The following day we had breakfast in the grill, again the food was very nice , lots of choice and constantly topped up the coffee !!!! Would Deffo recommend !
