Paid £59 a head for a Private Butlers Dinner on Sunday and 3 of us ordered venison but hardy ate it. The venison was presented in the form of 2 of the biggest and most unappetising pieces of meat I have ever been served and certainly was not the " Haute Cuisine " promised in the brochure. I would have expected that an Executive Chef would have wanted to ask why such a large " doggy bag " had been left over from a private dinner for only 7 people.

To add insult to injury our guests didn't receive the promised chefs canapés and glass of champagne, which is listed on the Butlers Experience part of the brochure.

We received a 50% reduction on the cost of the suite but that was because the air conditioning wasn't working and the room was unbearably hot.

The Butlers were outstanding and made our wedding day as perfect as they could but quality of food is too important to us to want to eat there again.

Check in was very efficient and we were greeted by a very polite receptionist. The room was average in size considering we had a twin room booked, clean and the decor was what you would expect from a hotel of this size and standard. However the bathroom had dirty towels on the side of the bath, we called down to reception and advised reception of this and they said they would send someone up to provide us with clean towels. We then went off to the gym - great equipment but not enough of it for the size of the hotel and external members visiting. The pool and changing rooms were very clean, we didn't visit the spa but it looked lovely. When returning from the gym an hour later the towels were still there!! I called down again to speak to the same receptionist and apparently they had sent housekeeping up and they couldn't find them! What's worse is they can't have moved the shower curtain to find the towels and the fact the towels were there in the first place means the bath couldn't have been cleaned! If the service in the restaurant and the food hadn't been so good then I would be rating this hotel a lot lower.

Just got back from a golf club trip to Oulton Hall and I have to say I was shocked.
We played all 27 holes and the course is a mess. It's a very good layout with some great holes, however it resembled a 1st world war battlefield.
The mud was endless. Some of the holes had hardly any grass on the greens just rolled out mud, it was mud mud mud.
The course should be shut for at least a month to allow it to recover. I bet that won't happen .
I will never ever go there again in winter and probably summer either.
The hotel was fine, tho this is secondary when you're on a golf trip.

We brought my parents-in-law here as they were celebrating a special anniversary. From entering the hotel to leaving the next day, I have to say that we were delighted with the experience. We were fotunate to be allocated refurbished rooms. Very nice indeed with a massive super comfortable bed. In particular we appreciated the free wifi in the room - many more expensive hotels charge for this and it is a real bugbear of mine.

We had lunch and a few drinks in the Claret Jug when we arrived and it was very pleasant and reasonably busy. A nice way to spend a couple of hours. In the evening we had booked a meal in the Calverley Restaurant. We had a few glasses of wine in the Champagne Bar first and although the drinks are quite expensive I think it is to be expected in such lovely surroundings. Our meal in the restaurant was very nice indeed. Staff were very helpful and attentive. We appreciated this. In fact all the staff we met were very pleasant and it made for a very nice stay.

We found breakfast to be very good. We are quite early risers and the restaurant was quite empty when we arrived but it did fill up and was quite busy later. However, the food was regularly topped up and there was no waiting around for food, our coffee cups were kept filled up by the tentative staff.

All in all a very pleasant experience and one that we will definitely be repeating.

Room Tip: Some rooms require a long walk. Ask for one nearer reception if you have difficulty walking.

Stayed here recently and was delighted by the hotel, especially as the price was really reasonable. Room nice and warm and spacious.
Staff really friendly and helpful, and made one feel very welcome.
Food was good BUT pricey, and breakfast a little disappointing.
No draft beer all bottles and champers!
Went across to Claret Jug and it was absolutely empty.
However overall liked the hotel.
