We went to Oulton Hall for a spa day to celebrate my partners birthday. On arrival, the receptionist was very busy on the phone but attended to us as soon as she could. We were seated in the waiting area for about 20 mins then a lady showed us down to the changing rooms and gave us our slippers and robes. The facilities were very clean. It was reassuring to see a man cleaning the pool side when we were swimming.
We both had massages booked which were very relaxing and enjoyable. The relaxation suite provided to perfect opportunity to relax after the massage.
Overall, a great day in a clean and luxurious spa. Thank you for a lovely day!

Booked this hotel for a half-term break. Check in trouble free. Impressive downstairs rooms. Tried the champagne bar. Pricey but nice to experience the once.Room/bathroom a little dated but more than adequate. The beds were comfy and we welcomed hair dryer, kettle etc. the house keeping staff were lovely and I was impressed with the rapid response of Reception when we asked them to deal with a lively bunch of youngsters next door. We discovered these young people were on a sports trip so hi jinx only and no harm done. We made good use of the pool and spa area. All lovely and staff friendly. We didn't use the restaurants as out and about. Breakfast was great and again, staff great. Hope to re-visit sometime.

My husband and I stayed for one night on a valentines package, including bed, breakfast, 3 course meal and a bottle of champagne in the room. The grounds are very pleasant and we were lucky enough to have a lovely sunny weekend so were able to sit outside and enjoy the view over the golf course. We arrived early so had a drink in the champagne bar which is stunnning, yes drinks are expensive at £11 for a beer and glass of prosecco but I think you expect that in a hotel like this. Check in was quick and straight forward, unfortunately the man on reception told us the bottle of champagne wasn't in our room yet and would be delivered later by room service, which spoilt the surprise for my husband, this still hadn't arrived 2 hours later so we had to ring in the end to have it brought to the room.
We had a dip in the pool which is quite small but wasn't busy so managed to swim and we enjoyed the sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.
Our room was basic and could do with updating, little touches like having a valance on the bed rather than being able to see the bed base would have made a difference, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable with goose down pillows and duvet. The shower was powerful and unlike some other comments on here we had plenty of hot water. We didn't have a view from our window, in fact we looked out over a flat roof, and I expect that only the more expensive suites look out over the grounds but I might be wrong so if this is important to you it's probably best to check when you are booking.
We ate dinner in the Calverley Grill and had the set menu, the food was perfectly cooked and we both enjoyed our meals, again drinks were expensive, I think the cheapest bottle of wine was £22. Breakfast is buffet style and again served in the Calverley Grill, I have to say this was delicious and probably the best breakfast I have eaten in a hotel of this size! There was plenty of choice of cereal, fresh fruit, breads and hot food which was again perfectly cooked.

Went to this hotel for our valentines escape.

Check in was very quick, our delux double room was very nice and had everything you could need eg hairdryer, iron, kettle ect .. Our only gripe would be our lovely king size bed turned out to be two beds pushed together !! The hot water was only just WARM so my husband had to boil the kettle to shave properly and showering wasn't too pleasant ..

Our evening meal was really nice, the menu was varied and the oysters were very fresh..
The wine waiter helped us choose a lovely bottle of wine to suit our taste and the service overall was excellent.

The sleep quality was slightly disturbed by people shouting and arguing and people knocking on doors to say be quiet, but once this calmed down the rest of the night was peaceful.

Breakfast was fab loads of choice very fresh and HOT def one of the better hotel breakfasts we have had.

To sum it up we had a nice evening and would probably visit again.

This was our 4th visit to Oulton Hall, and if it had been our first we would not have gone again.

Reception staff good, as was Vince in the Champagne bar, very attentive and made you feel welcome.

The package was a deluxe with evening meal and breakfast. Room not really to previous standards. Dust all over the room skirting boards, room telephone covered in dirt. Bathroom shower head blocked. Scale on all taps. Old sock in trouser press.

Diner a disaster, allot of staff walking around but nobody seemed to know what was happening. 3 other couples near us having problems with meal, food arriving cold and then extras arriving 10min later. Really disappointed.

We did make the management aware to which they said they would take on-board our comments.

Fabulous hotel and facilities, especially the bar and restaurant at the golf club (no we're not golfers and only went there at night); the staff in there were exceptional. Found the room fine unlike previous reviewers on here. The only possible 'fault' was that the beer in the hotel bar was just too expensive even for a 4* hotel (£4.25 for a bottle of budwieser). However, the beer in the bar in the golf club was expensive, but not 'eye wateringly' so and this bar ahd a much more relaxed atmosphere. Apart from that, as the title says, hard to fault.

Oulton Hall has beautiful grounds and common areas. It's worth paying for the room upgrade if you stay on one of the special deals, we were on the meal wine, Devine package. The front desk reception staff were pleasant and the booking in no problem. When we got to the room, the bottle of wine was not waiting as expected, which was a bit of a let down as we were there to celebrate my fiance's birthday. After ringing down to reception the apologised and said the would have it brought up straight away but it didn't arrive. We dined in the calverley grille downstairs. The staff were pleasant but not attentive. There was a very long wait for each course and they seemed a bit disorganised. They charged us highly for every extra & nothing was piping hot.. I had chicken supreme ( a very small portion which came with no veg or potatoes. We ordered some sides which were pricey, and bumped up costs considerably. The food was really nothing special & overpriced for what it was. The desserts were however much better. The room was smart but very dated, nothing like the rest of the building. Breakfast was very good, buffet style English breakfast.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe/ upgrade.
