“10 day experience.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 9, 2014

My friend an I stayed for 10 days in seperate rooms and had to clean the rooms ourselves. As it was substandard in cleanliness. They don't even use vacuum cleaners on the carpets and the bathrooms had mould everywhere including the ceilings. The bathroom ceiling light was hanging off the roof and had not been repaired by the time we left.

The corridors had holes in the walls and ceilings.

The buffet breakfast was average especially when there was a lot of people. They would run
out of food.

Very few people staying spoke english.

We found the staff friendly and sum spoke english (the only plus).

The Hotel must have been good 40 years ago. But it is tied and run down.

Overall it was an experience.

Room Tip: I had a corner suite on the 12th floor

Although there are no beaches nearby staying in Phuket Town has its attractions. There are some interesting streets like Thalang Road with lovely old SIno Portugese terrace houses and shops going back more than one hundred years. The town was prosperous during the tin mining days.
Metropole Hotel is in a central position, a large hotel mostly catering for Asian tour groups.
It is walking distance to shops, supermarkets, department stores, restaurants.
The rooms are large, clean, comfortable with all facilities. There several good restaurants,
swimming pool, massage and free WIFI. The complementary breakfast is adequate.
The staff are helpful and friendly

I had an early morning flight to Phuket and I reached at the hotel around 8:30 am, so it was going to be a very long waiting until my room would get ready, Any the Hotel was really good the staff was really cooperating, I gave them store my luggage as I was pretty tired after my flight, I rested on the couch in the lobby. Anyway, the room was spacious and clean with all amenities,a big and clean bathroom with complimentary toiletries and hair drier , buffet breakfast but there was no fridge to keep your beverages cool, just a kettle and 2 glasses, but still I would rate this hotel much higher. after checking out the room, drove around Phuket to kill the time, cause our flight to Bangkok was at night. but in spite of the fact, we checked out, they let us use the bathroom to be fresh. I really can't forget it.

What makes this hotel deserve my review ( first time ever took the trouble to do so) is the rooms which are more than comfortable and value for money. Its homely and though it is not exactly new, but it gives the sense of warm. I have stayed in the deluxe, superior as well as the suite. They all give me the same feeling. I started to stay here through recommendation of a friend who know my requirement and my taste as well as my budget. Could not thank him more. By the way, his name is Shoongiat Chotithamaporn, Manager of PR & Tourist Marketing Division Central Festival Phuket( CENTRAL-DEPARTMENTAL STORE CO.,LTD. Above all, under the leadership of Khun Yaya, all the staff in this hotel is extremely helpful and friendly especially a lady by the name Pattarawadee.

Room Tip: Communicate electronically with the personel first. ( Khun Yaya is my recommendation, it was her who...

Here's a hotel out of the seventies, it seems, in the middle of seedy Phuket Town. Then again, most of the town looks seedy. A club outside is known to keep guests awake at night. You can't spot the club though, because the windows are covered in cruddy deposit. On the positive side, it's within walking distance from food and shopping. I didn't stay here for tourism, and I don't see why anyone would, as it's not really near any of the beaches.
On the inside it's apparent that it hasn't seen renovation in a long, long time. There is an accompanying musky smell that lets you know its heritage is lengthy. The desk staff will try to help, but don't expect enthusiasm or that everyone speaks English.
The rooms are as old as everything else, but they are not small. I can imagine some guests not being able to stomach the carpeting and decades of mold. There is usually a small empty fridge, an electric kettle with nothing but water glasses next to it, a couple of desks and a closet. There's a convenient controller for lights and air conditioning all in one unit on the bedside stand.
The bathroom is unpleasant to be in- not dirty really, but old and crude. The water can be colored so let it run for a few minutes. I wouldn't use it for coffee or tea.
Breakfast is usually included. It's a second-floor buffet ringing the edge of the atrium with a restaurant proper at one end. The selection is mostly rice, fried veggies and sausages. Some fruits and juices and a simple salad selection is it. You'll have to navigate your way around rowdy visitors from the northerly neighbor, who shuffle around randomly from dish to dish with their backpacks on, all the while shouting their impressions from one end of the hotel to the other. If you manage to avoid getting knocked down by one of them, you can find a table but don't expect any service staff volunteering for tea or coffee.
Back in your room you can enjoy a reasonably fast wifi connection. Some channels on TV like SyFy have poor reception to the point of being unwatchable or absent for most of the day.
Like others have noted, room cleanup staff play hide and seek, and a simple request like an ironing board might go unanswered despite many promises that it's on its way.
In conclusion, I'm sure there are more respectable options around, but when all rooms are booked during high season and you have to stay here, then it's not all that bad. Just hope you get a room on the quiet side and your neighbors give the incessant door-banging a rest.

Room Tip: Ask the staff to put you opposite the club outside; they'll know which one it is.

We were booked in here by our travel company during a stopover for a ferry transfer. The hotel has 18 floors and the appearance of an international style hotel, but was disappointing. The room itself was comfortable, no minibar or fridge or safe, there was a kettle and 2 glasses but no tea etc, rather strange. Breakfast was buffet style and OK. Service on the reception desk was very poor for a hotel of this type. I am not the sort of person who expects everyone to speak English, but at a place like this I would expect a reasonable standard. There were two older ladies on reception who I assume were in charge, but they didn't seem to know what they were doing. The younger reception staff were very helpful and friendly. There was no information about the hotel in the room, we had a look around and facilities such as the spa seemed to be closed, there was a pool but the adjoining food area looked abandoned. The coffee lounge was mostly empty, we were served by a helpful waitress but the whole area needed updating to attract people in. I would not stay here again, would rather find a smaller place.
