We loved staying here. Great location in Phuket. Quiet and clean rooms with very little noise from the busy city. It's located in the heart of Phuket town, Chinatown. Breakfast included. Free wifi and the rooms had AC which is necessary.

We stayed at this pleasant, very clean converted shophouse one night en route to Railay Beach. Our room, an 18-square-meter en suite on the third floor, cost $29. It contained a beautiful wood canopy bed with spotless white sheets, a flat screen TV, a desk, an armoire and a mini fridge. Although the room is a bit tight (three people would be a stretch), the bathroom is surprisingly modern and spacious. Free WiFi is included but the signal seemed best on the second floor. There's a beautiful enclosed patio with a koi pond, and I believe some of the rooms have windows that open above the pond so the sound of the trickling water would be nice. Other rooms have a balcony overlooking the busy 2-lane street. We picked an inside room for the quiet.

The husband and wife who run the hotel are very nice and helped us secure a last-minute transfer to a ferry bound for the islands. The petite wife even tried to carry my massive backpack for me, and it probably weighed more than she does.

The hotel is conveniently located in the midst of the old town next to numerous shops and restaurants. For a unique twist on Italian, try Cook's restaurant on a parallel street. They serve yummy pizza with Thai toppings like green curry.

We stayed for one night on our way to Koh Phi Phi after 3 flights to reach Phuket and the Guesthouse was just the haven we needed.

The room was small but very clean and had a fantastic big bed which was very comfortable.

The location is on one of the main roads in the old town and was very quiet the evening we were there.

The staff were very helpful and happily arranged our boat to Koh Phi Phi the next morning and suggested some restaurants in the local area.

we just came back from two weeks vacation in Thailand, including Phuket, Ao Nang, Koh Chang and Bnagkok, 99 oldtown is one of our trip highlights. Landing in Phuket, we stayed two nights at 99 oldtown then 3 nights in Ao Nang then another one night in 99 oldtown.

Not enough can be said about the owners hospitality and their will to try and help even though communication can be hard at times. They helped us in few occasions, transportation wise: organizing a taxi to the bus station (150 baht), organizing a taxi from the bus station to their hotel (200 baht, in the station they wanted 300baht, I called 99 oldtown and they sent the fair taxi to the station), a taxi to the airport with the best taxi driver we encountered in Thailand (500 baht+100tip. when we landed in phuket, we were scammed by the taxi operators there, paying 600 baht, but mainly our driver stopped at some tourist center where they tried to scam us, and he was driving like the devil and smelling of weed).

in the reception, you'll find a list of prices for trips around phuket, the owners will call the operators of the trips and make sure you get these fair prices. actually, they called the operator that we then booked our Kai island trip with, which was overcrowded (see other review), but I wouldn't fault them for that.

Phuket old town is a quite place, full of quality restaurants, and few things to see (photos attached), I think it can serve as a good location to explore the island, but we didn't try that.

During our trip. we mainly stayed in accommodation owned by foreigners, as you might notice those hotels come on top of the tripadvisor lists, probably due to the ease of communication. 99 oldtown is an exception, it is owned by local people, offering a different and a very interesting experience, as you actually encounter local people and culture, and experience something different than what you'll get in foreigners owned accommodation.

Room tip: we stayed in two rooms, one facing the street which was bigger but a bit noisy, and one facing the inside of the building which was smaller and quiter
