The only reason we stayed at The Dara was because it was close to the hospital my husband was in after he had collapsed with a stroke. The 1st room that they showed us had a big crack in the floor & the vinyl flooring was split & lifting - trip hazard #1, we asked for a different room which at first looked ok & we left our luggage & went back to the hospital. When we returned there was a large pool of water on the bedroom floor, the seals around the windows were leaking with the rain - slip hazard #2, the water was approx 10cm from running into the electrical sockets on the floor - hazard #3, the bed was like sleeping on the floor it was that hard, mould on the chairs outside, crumbs & a used tissue under the cushion on the lounge chair, yuck! The outside corridors to the rooms are plane concrete and with the rain it was very dangerous just trying to get to your room - hazard #4. There is also a noisy building site next door. Ripped off with the taxi that they ordered for us, $350 THB to go 1 1/2 kilometers in a souped up lowered black car that took us the back way to the hospital, obviously not a taxi driver but a friends car with no insurance, it only cost us 200THB on the way back.
Needless to say we got out of this place as quick as we could the next morning. For a hotel that is trying to attract tourists, I would suggest they employ someone that can also speak or understand English. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all.
