My experience staying here was worth every dollar. For 3-star rates, you get all the necessary comforts and wonderful service.

When we arrived at night, we were served ice cold pineapple juice. After checking in, they took us down to our room. We had to go down many flights of stairs down the cliff. It's good exercise for those who can handle it, though be careful when the stairs are wet and look out for snails. If you'd rather not exercise, you can call the reception for a buggy to drive you up to the top. They handle all baggage movement for you.

The room was very nice and clean, with a fresh scent. No insects in the room even though you'd have no problem finding them once you step out. Good range of cable TV channels. You can buy wireless broadband internet for a fixed amount per x number of hours. The internet isn't very reliable all the time but good enough when you're on holiday and only need to check email every now and then. The bathroom is clean, though I avoided stepping on the pebbles on the floor as I doubt they clean out every single pebble on a regular basis. The shower area is tiled. There is a jacuzzi with a fine view of the sea.

The restaurant serves local and Western food. The food is not the best, but passable and good if you don't feel like going out. There's free buffet breakfast but after the 3rd day, you'll want to order a la carte.

Don't go to the spa. They don't see a lot of spa visitors and hence are not very professional. There can be service people (men and women) pottering around the room as you are getting a massage. Better to visit a day spa in town.

The infinity pool is beautiful and clean and has a great view of the beach and sea. You can just stand in the pool and watch the planes take off and land all day.

Overall it was a great experience as the staff are very eager to please. They can be slow but I think that's a characteristic of the Thais which you'll find elsewhere, so be patient with them. They might have trouble communicating in English, but they try their best. I mentioned above that you can get quite sick of the buffet breakfast. When I ordered noodle soup off the menu a la carte on the 4th or 5th morning, they served it complimentary which was a really nice gesture. Do tip them when you can, your generosity will not go unrewarded by a sincere smile and thanks.

I tried to add photos but the website took too long to respond, but rest assured the photos that others have posted up are for real.

I have to say I am amazed that this hotel has had so many positive reports. We stayed here for one night whilst stuck in Koh Samui, and were shocked by the poor standard in comparison to the other hotels we'd stayed in. The whole resort is extremely dated with wall to wall ugly decor. The rooms are dated and dark, the beds are uncomfortable and the 'balconies' very small patches of concrete. The bathrooms are not air conditioned and as a consequence are very stuffy and ours absolutely stank of damp (as did the room although not as badly) so we were unable to make use of the 'jaccuzi' bath. We ate in the restaurant for lunch which was almost inedible and shockingly expensive and for buffet breakfast where the pastries were crawling with ants! The resort is very isolated and we found it actually quite creepy at night. The only real positive about the hotel is the views, which are nice, although there is no beach. The pool looked ok and is quite big, although it could have done with a decent clean.
All in all it is shockingly overpriced for what it is- I'd rate is as a 2* maximum- in a poor location.

Stayed at the Cliff View Resort for a week with my wife and 2 children aged 14 and 11. There is a huge choice of hotels on the island and picking one that would be suitable for all the family I thought would be hard, however having read the reviews here I was happy to give it a go, and I wasn't dissapointed. We had 2 villas both spotless with large double beds and a decent bathroom / ensuite. The hotel is not new and therefore suffers from the common complaints of all older hotels i.e in need of some modernising. I found the staff to be all very friendly and would always go out of their way for you. Also located at the Hotel is 'Bud' the tour organiser who again I foud to be extremely helpfull.
I would certainly stay here again, it certainly isn't the most luxurious of hotels on the island, but there again you get what you pay for. It's location for us was ideal, not over crowded but close enough to where all the action was.

This was our second time at this resort, after having enjoyed a wonderful stay here in July 2007. The rooms are clean and modern, all have balconies, large bed, good pillows, huge shower plus massive jacuzzi. It is set in a private area of Samui, away from the hustle and bustle of Lamai and Chaweng, which makes it very relaxing and good for both couples and families. The best thing about this hotel is the unparalleled service. The staff are genuinely friendly and cannot do enough to make your stay a pleasure. The food in the restaurant is also fantastic. Each morning, the buffet breakfast is sumptuous. It is evident that this hotel has very good management. We will be returning here again next year for an even longer stay.

We stayed in Sept, last year, the hotel was very clean,

we had a fab jaccuzzi in front of a huge window and our view was the lovely crystal clear waters of the gently lapping sea

the infinity pool was fabulous, looking on to the sea also..

food and drink - nothing to complain about, fresh, well cooked.

the staff were always on hand, should you require anything - a lift to chaweng / lamai, Or help down the hill to your bungalow!!!

none theother bungalows overlooked ours, and in turn we overlooked noone elses.

great retreat / getaway, fab pool, great staff, brill location.... what more do you need

A word to the wise - this hotel is straight accross the road from one of the best restaurants on samui - "the blue Bar" - my partner and i had starters main meals and two beers each for under a tenner!!!!

see photos!!!
