“Castle Hallwyl + Walk on Halwillersee lake = super family trip”
Reviewed April 12, 2014

Castle is very nice as well since it is on the river and close to pitoresque lake. We parked car next to castle , spent one hour by visiting (expositions not accessible with pram so children rucksack needed ;-) - you can leave pram on court ) . and walked (with pram) along the lake (3.2km flat) to Camping / beach StrandBad Tennwil . Camping is (of course) child friendly, not expensive resto with lake view and many facilities....... Nice to spend afternoon. (Changing tables available in the castle and camping )

They offer as well combo tickets ship on the lake and castle which can be even more attractive for small kids.... (We have not tried).
Enjoy ;-)

“beautiful castle”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

The moated castle in northern Switzerland dates back to the 13th century and is in great shape. If you have chance, you should visit the museum that tells the story about the noble family of Hallwyl which built this castle.

“Beautiful castle in an integral nature reserve”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is a wonderful, water-surrounded, castle. Great to admire both from outside (in case it should be closed: check the opening hours as it's not every day open to public!), as well inside, if you have the chance to visit the rooms and the Museum.

Take the short walk from the castle to the nearby lake of Hallwil ("Hallwilersee") - about 20 minutes, following the little river - as this is a peaceful nature-sanctuary with a wonderful panorama view from the waterside.

“A Real Castle in PERFECT condidition”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

You will not be disappointed in going to this perfectly preserved castle only a short train ride from Zurich. The city is still laid out the way it was in the middle ages. You get the sense of how a relatively small building can be impressive. If you are here you should visit Schloss Lenzburg, which is an even better example of perfect preservation.

“A spectacular medieval castle”
Reviewed June 30, 2012

If you happen to be in Lenzburg, it's without doubt worth climbing the hill and visiting the castle. Not sure if one has to reserve in advance for the visit, though.
