I was visiting this place with 4 other people and the geological formations are very very interesting. The hiking trail is about 3 hours long (average walking). Part of the hike is through the woods and part of it under a direct sun. If you're going during the warm months don't forget sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water for there is no drinking water along the pathway. On your way out you can buy some homemade products/souvenirs from Serbia (such as rakija (plum brandy), quince brandy, strawberry liqueurs and other goodies). There is a spring of mineral water that is running down the rocks from the top of the hill. The water is not for drinking but they say is healthy for the skin (because of high content of the minerals). They sell 1 l bottles with this water by the entrance (about 300 dinars = about 6$). However one of the ladies selling the homemade products told us to go a bit off the path to gather the water. And so we did. The climb towards the spring is steep and rocky and not for everyone.

Great experience!

We have been to Đavolja Varoš during our holiday in October 2013. The attraction is situated about 12 km away from Prolom Banja and about 25 km from Kuršumlija. It is somewhat strange if you come from the direction of Niš. First there is a big sign to give you the direction and after this there is no further information. From Niš you have to follow the road to Skopje and then Prokuplje. A little part of the journey the road connections were bad, especially after Prokuplje. But if you drive carefully the problems are not too big.

The total of the park is not very big and you cannot compare this attraction to Cappadocia. But it is very nice and beautiful and you can make a beautiful walk and visit an interesting wooden church of Sveti (Saint) Petko. There are several sculptures in the park. At the entrance you can taste some of the homemade products of Serbia, especially raki.

The geological formations are very interesting and beautiful but before I had thought the park was much larger. You can spend 2 or 3 very interesting hours but it is very wise if you want to visit this attraction to make a combination with another attraction like visiting the Spa of Prolom Banja or the old churches and monasteries of Kuršumlija (the monastery of Sveti Nicolai).

Or make a combination with visiting the ruins of Caričin Grad (city of the Emperor), dating back to the 6th century.
Also in the region it is beautiful to visit the rivers Toplica, Banjska, Jablanica en Kosanica to walk, to fish or make a picknick.

Road connections are bad, just because of this attraction is not necessary to visit Southern Serbia. If you are already in the vicinity, it would be a shame to miss it. Interesting geological formations are limited to a few tens of square meters but the entire park (forest trail, old mines and iron water) are worth seeing. After an all-day ride through the Balkans it was a pleasant walk. Before the church of St. Petko is the tree with very interesting image of Sv. Save.
Selection of souvenirs at the entrance to the park is unique for Serbia.
