This hotel is wonderful, it is on the beautiful Hapuna Beach which itself has an area reserved for hotel guests which was great, the beach was never very busy. We had a partial sea view on a terrace and spend long glorious hours soaking up the sun and listening to the waves on our terrace. Our room was very comfortable with a fridge, television and king bed. The fridge was great because we didn't have breakfast included in our package and found it useful to store some food for breakfast and lunch.
The hotel is very spread out and it was quite a walk from the car park to our room. I think the charges for parking and internet access are unnecessary, this is the only downside of this beautiful hotel. We even fell in love with the wild turkeys and cats which seem to be resident at the property! Overall we were delighted with our choice of the Big Island and this hotel for our 6 night stay in Hawaii and would return in the blink of an eye! We ate in the restaurant in the hotel once, it was ok but generally we preferred to go to Waikoloa or Kona to eat.

This resort hotel is built next to one of the best beaches on the Big Island. The hotel is huge and a little confusing to find your way around. It is built on the side of the hill going down to the beach. You actually enter the hotel on level 8 of a 10 story building. My room was .15 miles from the front desk and a little difficult to find. The rooms are very large but the decor is in need of an update. They are a bit dated and the wall paper is starting to peel in places. The bathroom is very large. Each room has a big lanai with a chaise and table and chairs. The cushions on the lanai furniture was pretty worn out. I think that every room has a view, some better than others. The hotel is built next to Hapuna Beach State Park which is beautiful. The grounds are nice and the pool is beautiful. It is located away from other hotels and towns. You have to drive to get to Waimea, Waikoloa or Kailua-Kona.

Imagine yourself walking into an open air lobby that leads to a perfectly framed paradise beach view. The Hapuna Prince architect knew how to showcase this paradise location! Our terrace room was comfortable with 2 queen beds and an easy path to the beach. Expansive beach area for lounging in the shade or sun, taking a dip or a relaxing beach walk. Nice pool, friendly staff and yummy pastries from the deli.
The pass that includes parking, wi-fi, free coffees and cocktails is worth it.

Room Tip: Huge property. You may want to ask about location for ease of getting to certain areas.

Agreed with other reviewers. We stayed at ocean front room and was lucky to get one of the rooms where the trees in front offered an opening to a larger than usual beach view.

Pros: nice hotel, nice beach, spacious, large pool, twice a day service, not too many people, lovely breakfast staff
Cons: not many choices for dinner (pretty much only had one restaurant to choose from), dated rooms (but still clean), no in-room kettle, compulsory $8 porterage fee whether you use it or not, pricey internet fee ($11.95 PER device/24 hr!), fitness facility separate from hotel

Although the resort is spacious, it is abit isolated from the closest towns, requiring a 15 min drive. We went to the Queens shops most often, stocked up on bottled water and food in case we got hungry (but one word of advice - don't go to "Noodle Shop" at Queens shop, the food is so tasteless it's not funny). The grounds are huge, definitely need a car on Big Island. I found the reception staff i encountered (3 different ones) abit cold, no smiles...

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days for the start of our Hawaiin vacation. This was our first trip to Hawaii. The resort grounds are beautiful. The pool is great...would be nice if they also had a family pool so those without children could have a quieter experience. The beach is beautiful on the kohala coast. The sand is perfectly clean...no shells or anything and the texture is almost like a sponge when walking in the water.
The down side to this resort is that it is enormous. We had to take 3 elevators to get from the parking garage to our room. Not fun when you're 3/4 to the garage and realize you left the car key on the bed! Space is definitely not an issue so it's kind of ridiculous that they charge $15/day for self parking. If they can find a way to charge for something they are doing it! We did change rooms as our first room did not have the king bed we requested and was kind of dingy with that covered up smoking room smell. I don't know if we got had but we ended up upgrading our room and bargaining a bit to get the price down. On principle I feel we may have been scammed but in the long run the upgraded room was worth it. It was a much bigger room with king bed, ocean view and smelled SO much better. We decided to save money for activities and not do the breakfast buffet. It's $24.95/person. Ouch! We went to the Waikoloa grocery store down the road and got food for the room. There is an empty fridge in the rooms so we stocked up on cereal, milk, juice, fruit and pastries. Overall it was a great stay and you can't beat the location on the beach.
If we were to go back again we will definitly look for a smaller place or condo to rent.

Room Tip: preview your room before you bring all your luggage in. Some of the rooms are more outdated than others and have an old smoke smell.
