We stayed in a garden view suite which was large and spacious. The room was well appointed. We had 11/2 bathrooms. The main one was large, had a full tub/shower and another separate shower stall. There was fresh towels throughout the day as they swapped them out. Bed was a king and very comfortable with nice feather pillows. There was a mini fridge which was nice.
The orchid court was closed for renovations so the buffet breakfast was held in a banquet room. The set up was a bit haphazard. There was a shortage of food as many chafing dishes were empty.
The restaurants on site were very good as we tried them all.
The beach was nice with excellent snorkeling.
Rated the review lower due to lack of aloha on arrival. No welcoming, no lei greeting, no luggage help, no offering of valet or self park. Had to figure it out myself. Check in was ok but did not value us being platinum members.

This hotel has been around for awhile, but it has been tended to with lots of TLC. It is a beautiful hotel set in a lush tropical paradise. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and are always smiling! Special commendation to Gianna at the front desk - so wonderfully helpful to the guests. The breakfasts are very good and service is excellent, with very thoughtful servers. Our standard room was quite large, very clean, and very well equipped. The hotel is very welcoming in all ways. We will stay here again when we return to the Kona area.

Hotels of the Fairmont brand usually are already very high class but "The Orchid" really outdid itself. Fast and friendly checkin with Lei flowerchains for the ladies and seashell chains for the gents. Spacious rooms with great views, breakfast with excellent hot and cold choices. A real highlight is the huge pool and the sea turtles (and sometimes Manta rays) that come near the shore at night. My wife especialy liked the fantastic outdoor spa - an absolute bliss and must do at "The Orchid". The staff was always quick at hand to offer advice on what to visit or which restaurants match our taste. Couldn't give higher praise to this venue and we'll definitively be back!
