We stayed at three different hotels while in Hawaii, Fairmont in the Big Island, Outrigger and Turtle Bay in Oahu. I have to say this one was the best. We arrived late, although it wasn’t the warmest welcome, they gave us the Hawaiian necklaces (the one with the nuts), it was the only hotel where we got these. Hotel is very well maintained. Rooms were very nice; my only complaint is that fridge was too small. Swimming pool area and whirlpool were very nice, I think the swimming pool was heated. You can use the steam room and sauna at the spa area for free. Most chairs at beach were for free so no problem here. Self-parking was free. We went to the Loa Luau at the hotel, this is something you want to do, delicious dinner with an unforgettable show. We tried the restaurant at the beach, and it was tasty. We ate most of the time in the Waikoloa area at the mall and don’t forget Foodland just 5 mins from hotel.
This is indeed the Big Island; we drove approx. 800 miles and didn’t get the chance to see everything. We drove around the island, visited waterfalls, volcanos, hike trails, beaches, at least you need a week here and maybe staying at both sides of the island (like some TA say), I have to say that for me the windward side was the best (hotel is at leeward side),because of its beautiful green landscapes. We also went diving at night to see the manta rays, if you dive you can’t miss this trip, you won’t forget it, there were 7-9 manta rays at the same spot (around 22” wingspan and larger!!).
