The Fairmont Orchid is a very nice property located in a lush manicured tropical setting. The guest reception is understated and could be just a bit more welcoming and engaged--but nothing to really pick on here. The rooms are exceptionally well maintained, clean, SPACIOUS, well appointed, quiet and comfortable--everything anyone could want. There are a few things that let the property down. It is definitely coming of age where some serious refurbishing of the public areas and grounds are needed. The very, very hot unshaded guest parking lot is unkempt and really lets the property down in terms of first impressions. The hotel was very full when we visited--most evident in the common areas--but that didn't intrude and diminish the tranquility of our room--so good job not letting a full house bleed over and spoil the room experience. Programs and services could use upgrades and more engagement with guests. Overall--a very nice place to be, but needing some work to really keep it's reputation and expectations about the experience intact.

This was our 5th stay at this property (over 4 years). We come back because everything here is first rate -- excellent property, excellent amenities, excellent location, excellent beach, excellent staff. Could not ask for a better stay and we've felt this way every time. We are ready to book our next trip here the minute we get on the plane for the sad flight home.
