The Fairmont lived up to its reputation as a brand. The place was beautifully designed and put together. The staff was everywhere and very friendly. We were greeted with leis (the stone type and unfortunately not the flower type) but at least they had fruit infused water available in the lobby. They do also put out coffee and tea early in the morning for people who get up very early (due to jet lag).
We got a partial-ocean view room which felt modern and recently renovated. It had an incredibly comfortable bed. The bathroom is classy and spacious.
The location is quite secluded which is good and bad. It's about 30 minutes from the airport and the marina but being in Hawaii, you're rarely in a rush and there isn't really any traffic so it makes for a leisure drive.
The luau was the most classy one I've been to and I actually learned a fair amount about the Polynesian culture. It featured some of the best food of the trip. Brown's restaurant on-site is also great.
I'd come back and stay here again easily.
