Went to Morriset Hospital for sightseeing and enjoyed patting kangaroos and marvelling the views of the lake.

Very large lake with many kilometres of walking and bike paths to enjoy. Nice for sunsets. Plenty of parking areas and rest areas with playgrounds.

Recently went and stayed with friends at Fishing Point who decided to take me sailing on Lake Macquarie. It is the largest salt water lake in Australia and you have so many other options such as bush walking, 4 wheel driving, surfing all so close. To spend a day on the lake either sailing or just quietly cruising around in a power boat has to be done to be believed. No matter where you launch your boat, there are great places to stop and have lunch. The Toronto yacht, Wangi and the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club at Belmont are all worth a stop over. All the staff at these clubs are fantastic and make you feel most welcome. Around the lake itself you have many options to pull into jetties and wharves where you can just go for a walk around the many reserves, stop off and have a BBQ and enjoy a wine from the Hunter Valley. MAGNIFICENT

A drive around the lake is beautiful. Lots of parking, walking and cycling path, grass to sit and cuddle as you watch the colours of the lake change from azure to indigo. Sailing ships slide like butterflies across a blue "sky". Plenty of food options, family cafes, chic dining, pub meals. Open safe space for children to run, ride and relax. A great way to spend a sunny Sunday, with family and friends, that special someone or just taking time out with a book.
