“Roundhill again and again”
Reviewed August 2, 2014

Roundhill is other worldly. A place where time stands still and you are enveloped in the healing powers of nature's beauty. The Resort is beautiful beyond description and the service is impeccable. I have travelled to Jamaica many times and visited other parishes and resorts. Roundhill is my favorite place. The villa we stayed in was opulent! The villa staff was considerate and efficient. They attempt to make your stay as comfortable as they can in every way. I looking forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: The villa experience is worth every penny!!

Lovely property with great ocean views, small beach with ample seating, beautiful infinity pool (wish there were more shady areas at the pool). The staff was wonderful, friendly & polite and accommodating. We stayed 4 nights in a beach front patio room. The room was clean and well appointed. Our room had a very comfortable king bed, with a comfy sitting area, large bathroom with 2 sinks, soaking tub and shower. We did the all inclusive plan which included transfers, boat ride and rafting ride and of course all meals and drinks, well worth it! The food was wonderful! They offered a varied menu selections, delicious fresh fruit & veggies along with a smoothie bar at breakfast. There were theme nights during our stay. One night was farm to table, where they use all locally grown produce, Jamaica night (not my fav., but good) Great breakfast and lunch with a wonderful staff!
We had amazing massages at the spa and loved that it was secluded from the other parts of the resort. A beautiful path by the ocean guides you to the spa. The spa pool was great although the deck area could use some weeding and TLC. Nonetheless, it had an amazing view of the ocean and was quiet and peaceful.
Have to say that we loved the property especially the warm and friendly staff who were everywhere . The only draw backs we found were the spa pool area needing a little TLC and the noise from the planes over head making their way into the airport to land.
All in all we loved Round Hill and will return again!

Room Tip: Patio rooms are a must! Higher floor rooms only afford a window view. None of the rooms have TV

Wow – what an incredible place. My wife, infant son and I traveled to Round Hill in June for a little over a week and stayed in an Oceanfront Room at the Pineapple House. My wife, having visited Round Hill before, had nothing but amazing things to say of the property which I fully understood when we arrived at the entrance. Driving onto the grounds, you feel as if you’ve arrived onto someone’s private ranch – green lawns, tropical flowers and white cottages tucked into the hillside. We arrived in the evening to a lobby lit up with candles, and were promptly offered an ice-cold rum punch that washed away the hectic flight in. After a pleasant check-in, we were escorted to our second-story room in the Pineapple House that was well appointed, comfortable and had an incredible view of the water and beach. The bellman brought us a crib in the pouring rain and then stayed and dried it off completely. After freshening up, we headed up to the restaurant along the beach path where we were serenaded by the sounds of crickets and the water lapping the shore – talk about ambiance! Monday’s dinner theme is Beach BBQ, however the rain that evening moved dinner up into the restaurant. Although we weren’t on the beach, the dinner was delicious and the service in the restaurant made us feel at home.

Over the next week, we thoroughly took advantage of just about everything Round Hill has to offer. We loved taking the baby between the infinity pool right on the beach and the swimming area in the bay to cool off as it was in the 90s everyday. My wife and I took turns snorkeling in the reef out front, and we took the pedal boat out with the little guy who enjoyed it too. We loved that the hotel lends out snorkel gear, kayaks, pedal boats and even their hobie cat! It’s a great way to explore the water and is fun for the whole family. One morning we took the glass bottom boat tour which was a nice way to see the hotel & grounds from the water – including Ralph Lauren’s villa (not to mention see under the water for those who didn’t want to get wet).

The restaurant was great, as were the beach bars and cocktail lounge. Since there is just one restaurant on property, it is nice that they have the various theme nights for dinner so that you have a good variety during the week. Our favorite dinner night was the Beach BBQ on the water (that we got to experience the following Monday). They place tables right on the sand and line the water’s edge with tiki torches. A Jamaican band played Caribbean music and the dinner selections were superb (loved the steak!). We would recommend having an after-dinner cocktail in the corner booth of the cocktail lounge and perusing the black and white photos of past guests and celebrities. Also, during the day, the beach bars (either near the pool or on the beach) are great spots for a Red Stripe. A few other dishes we loved during our stay and would recommend are the Jamaican Pulled Pork Tacos for lunch, and one of the fresh-made smoothies for breakfast.

One night, we went off-property to the Houseboat Grill, which is a fantastic spot in Montego Bay to change it up a bit. The actual restaurant is a wooden houseboat that floats on the water, and you take a little “ferry” over that is all part of the experience! Great food and drinks, and it’s fun to check out the marine life from the outside deck.

A few things that stood out to us at Round Hill during the week were the Manager’s Cocktail Reception on Wednesday night – which was a great way to meet other guests and enjoy a few glasses of wine – The Pineapple Room – where we watched World Cup matches with new friends – and the Kids Club – which we didn’t use ourselves but saw kids having a great time with the staff and engaging in all sorts of activities. The resort is very family-friendly and with all the activities going on plus the kids club, it allows a family to have a luxury getaway and the kids have an amazing time as well.

My wife loved the spa, where she had a scrub and massage. It is about a 5-minute walk from the main beach area down this beautiful beach bath next to the jungle. She loved the tranquil setting of the spa, which is adults-only during spa hours. They have lounge chairs and day beds on the lawn so I imagine it is a great place to escape for a nap.

We had the opportunity to tour some of the villas which were absolute luxury. Each villa is designed differently but all incorporate the Caribbean feel with indoor/outdoor space, incredible lawns and landscaping, and even private pools. We loved the Pineapple House for the view and proximity to the beach, but next time will book a villa to have even more space for the family - by then we might just have another kiddo in tow!

Overall, our stay was nothing short of amazing. The service and warmness from all of the staff made us feel at home and very welcomed. The longevity that most of the staff have worked at Round Hill (most were over 20 years!) speaks volumes to how much they love it there and the pride they take in their work. We are very much looking forward to bringing our family here for years to come!

Room Tip: Book the Pineapple House to be right on the water, or stay in a Villa for privacy and space!

5 star accommodations. Staff is friendly, laid back and accommodating. They will make your stay as comfortable as possible. We stayed in room 128 and everything was beautiful. Room was clean and a decent size. We had a beautiful view of the beach.

Food was delicious. This was a major plus as they serve TRUE authentic jamaican food. It was delicious. We couldn't wait for our next meal. Yes it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for. Drinks were strong which is a plus for me. Price is typical in NY so I was not shocked. Tax and and 18% service charge is included on everything except water sports and spa.

Thank you to Polo and Stedman for the boat ride at the water sports activity shop. They made it fun and enjoyable.

Thank you to Winsome for my deep tissue massage. I still feel like I am walking on air. And some other mentions to Kingsley, Jason, Richard and David (lifeguard). They made our stay great. WE WILL BE BACK. THAT IS A PROMISE.

This is a gorgeous property with panoramic ocean views and lush foliage.. It has a nice small but pleasant beach with plenty of chairs and shade plus a breathtaking large infinity pool. The hotel is less than thirty minutes drive from the airport. The rooms are lovely and a nice size and the bathroom is good size with a large soaking tub, shower and modern double sink vanity. The food at the hotel was delicious and excellent quality. Lots of choices and fresh fruits and vegetables. The menu was reasonably priced but the wine was expensive. There is a little problem with airline noise as the planes approach Jamaica but that was really minor compared to all the hotel had to offer. We enjoyed tea and the staff were all very friendly and hospitable. Their service was always outstanding. Another highlight for us was dinner on the beach and the setting and the food were wonderful! If you are looking for a beautiful, quiet and peaceful getaway, this is the place!

Room Tip: Get a room with a patio on the first floor of Pineapple House or go for a villa

First time back to Jamaica in 25 years, my wife found this gem of old-world genteel hospitality! Step back in time to a plantation-style series of villas on a hill overlooking a beautiful sheltered cove; our villa had a beautiful lanai and its own private pool, which we were skinny-dipping in within 15 minutes of arrival! Incredibly civilized, the staff were warm and friendly, with the laid-back island vibe, yet attentive and anticipatory to our needs and whims. We're really not into the 5-star thing and the type of folks that stay at such places; this place was 5-star in an old-world way which we found truly delightful. Great food, comfy accommodations, free use of water toys in the bay, good snorkeling, and they even happily came out to get me when I dumped the Hobie Cat! We will this place visit again!

Room Tip: Go for a suite on the hill

Round Hill is an excellent choice of a hotel and this is the 2nd time we have been there and we will def be going back again in future years. I LOVE this hotel, but only gave it a 4 this time round. Below is my candid feedback and why I gave it a 4.

VILLAS
We stayed in Villa 1 and it was lovely. The pool and grounds were stunning, the room was nice and it was close to the restaurant and main hotel (which is what we asked for). The only ding on the room is the the air conditioning is only in the bedroom area and in July it is HOT. It was hard for us to enjoy the other parts of the inside parts of the villa because of the heat and lack of air conditioning. If Round Hill upgraded the villa's to include AC throughout, this would make a big difference and make the accommodations perfection.

BREAKFAST
The breakfast each day was fabulous, in the villa they will come in the morning and make you the best breakfast ever. The only knock on this is if you are an early riser which we are (we have 2 kids under 3), its hard to have breakfast served before 9 am. (We ideally wanted breakfast at 730 am). No problem, but it should be noted for early rising families.

BEACH
The beck is great, ample chairs and the water is nice.

FOOD
After eating at the hotel for 2 or 3 days in a row, you get a little tired of the food. While the hotel tries to provide variety it still needs more. FOr example, the kids menu every day is the same… it even gets a little boring for the kiddies who have the same menu for lunch and dinner, day in and day out. The food is also very $$$$.

Tea service is an absolute plus.

SPA
The Spa is great, massages are absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend!

Room Tip: Villa 1 is nice. The pool is on the smaller side, but still lovely. Also the pool is fairly deep if...
