What can I say that I and others have not already said? RH is a special, special place - IF you "get it". Most likely, you will not "get it" at first, but then... slowly, you become enlightened. You will then hold every other place you ever visit up to RH's standard of nirvana. Its a place where the staff will welcome you back as family. Its a place where you will see the same enlightened faces - year after year.
This last trip my family and I took was our 6th to RH. Each and every one of us love it like our second home. It quite literally pains me to agree w/ 127guy in regards to the families that are the types you wouldn't expect to encounter here. Unfortunately, for the very first time, we also encountered the same sort of guests during our visit. I will elaborate only to say that as a parent of well mannered and well behaved children - it boggles my mind that a parent will allow their child to continually SCREAM when they need to get the attention of a parent, friend, etc. Your group stuck out like a sore thumb at RH.

Room Tip: The rooms in the Pineapple house are lovely. Do your research if you are booking a cottage. Cottag...

This was our first trip to Jamaica and we weren't sure what to expect. We were pleased with our choice of Round Hill as a place to stay! It was unique, comfortable and charming. It is an "enclave" that is safe and secure, but with plenty of opportunities for outings off property. My husband is photographer and so we asked for a driver for a day to go into the country. It was great and we saw many things you wouldn't normally see on the "canned" packages.
While on property, we actually relaxed - something we hardly ever do - and something we need to do. It was great!
Unbeknownst to us, it was a spring break weekend, so there were a lot of families there with middle school and younger children, including infants and toddlers. We did not find this to be a problem at all and were enchanted by the families talking about the kids' camp and nannies for their children. All were very pleased with the care the children received.
When we checked in, the front desk put us all the way at the end of the Pineapple House so it "would be quieter." We were fine with it and it worked out well.
Our spa treatments were good and the food was good.
Don't be afraid to talk with other guests. We talked with people every day and actually ended up having dinners with two other couples almost very night.
We found the staff friendly and helpful.
We decided this would be a place to which we would like to return! If we can truly relax, that is so important!

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room in the Pineapple House and that was fine for us. There was a large sitting...

This was our second trip to Round Hill and we will be back. We have only stayed at the cottages (of which there are about 20-25) so I can't comment on the hotel. Round Hill is beautifully sited and reeks of old world charm. The pace is generally quiet although be forewarned that a few loud families with their progeny are all it takes to upset the rhythm. You'll spot them a mile away - dad with his baseball cap toting a beer, mom in spandex, and various bratty kids left to themselves. Best avoid - use the 20 foot rule. If you are renting a villa, do some homework as they are not all created equal. Prior to 1989, Round Hill was only open during the extended winter season. As such, many of the villas were made year round at that time and thus have a bit of a "trapped in time" look - generally OK. We heard in particular that cottage 3 is to be avoided - a cockroach trap owned by a cheap dowager who hasn't put a dime into it for years. Do your homework. If you stay in a cottage, the morning breakfasts are beyond belief. An exceptional way to start they day. Like many of the Carribean islands, the locals prey on the tourists and Jamaica is no exception. Everyone is on the make and looking for a spiff. Avoid the downtown bizarre scene unless haggling over tourist grade stuff is your thing.

So there you go. Round Hill is an exceptional property and the staff could not be more accommodating. You'll get some "bridge and tunnel" crowd but also some nice peope looking for some warmth and sunshine. Food is outstanding and the service first rate. Put up with the beach scene and enjoy.

Room Tip: Avoid cottage 3; do your homework on the others.

My husband and I took our two sons to Jamaica for their spring break from college. They had a wonderful time as did we. We rented two rooms in the hotel. Both had amazing views out over the ocean as do all ofthe rooms. Ours had a small deck with table and chairs where we enjoyed breakfast and watched the sunset. The staff treated us like a we were someone special at all times. The food was so good with so many choices that we wished we had gotten the meal plan because we always wanted to eat on the premesis. Plenty of tasty healthy choices along with other great food. All ages seemed to be able to find a favorite. Our only regret was that we had to leave so soon. Old school attention to detail and just plain kindness by the staff left each of us wanting to return.

Lounging in beautifully furnished Villa 12 (each of the villas is separately owned and furnished) overlooking the bougainvillea and gazing out to the blue sea was magical.
My first, second and third reactions were that this was perfect.
The villas sweep from the sea, terraced up the hill.
In someone’s beautifully appointed island retreat, I feltI was a house guest in a beautiful secluded private club, not in a hotel somewhere warm and beautiful.
In this magnificent aerie the staff pampered us, unpacking while we sunned and settled in. (In some villas the staff have been with the villa longer than the owner) Ours was fantastic.
Very helpful, made what and when we wanted for breakfast and gave us great insight and gossip into the property and area.
The only cloud in perfect sky was that the villas are close together, both side to side and up and down the hill and at times noise by one pool or party at another intruded on our tranquility.
Also be careful if you do not rent the entire villa as you could end up with strangers sharing your pool. This happened to us one night and the lack of privacy was bothersome.
The food at the restaurants was generally good. I have learned never to expect great food on any island other than St Barth’s, and did not get it.
Afternoon tea became for us a most enjoyable daily event.
With a gorgeous private pool, we rarely used the beach or hotel pool, though we enjoyed the beach bar.
For those considering a hotel room, I would look closely, and read the reviews here, as I was not impressed as I walked by them. Old, small and not really private, was my quick reaction. May have missed some, but check on this.
The one other cloud over paradise was the intrusion of the wedding set.
I resent at every property being pushed aside for meetings and more particularly overrun by drunken loud wedding guests. I’m paying for privacy and quiet and I want it. Unfortunately Round Hill is a sought after wedding spot. Check the before you arrive and book another time (or another place) to avoid this.
Round Hill is only about 20 minutes from Montego Bay airport which makes it easy to get to, though sometimes you hear the jets on their approach. I mention this as came here from Ocho Rioas; a hard 2 ½ hr drive and appreciated the proximity to the airport on our departure.

My husband and I spent three nights at Round Hill. The resort itself is lovely, however, staying here you will have no inclination that you are even in Jamaica. We wanted to stay on the beach so we chose to stay at the Pineapple House, their hotel (shared villas are the alternative). The rooms are lovely although the mattress was completely uncomfortable (very hard). The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything going on next to and above us. There was a lot of airplanes flying over which added to the noise. Reserving a room on the first floor was nice since we had a patio and direct access to the pool.

We heard many people talking about how they have been to the resort multiple times (at least three) but we know we won't ever go back. It may be nice with children (we have two but didn't take them on this trip) as it is very secure and the daycare staff is exceptional.

We did some snorkeling and went out on the glass bottom boat--both were very nice. The restaurant was nice but extremely overpriced and the food was not seasoned at all. We went to the highly recommended beach bbq on Monday night and even that was depressing. The tables were all set up on the beach with tiki torches (lovely) but the food was again very, very bland. The only exception was the curry chicken we had one night at the restaurant and the coconut chicken we ordered from room service. The music played was YMCA, We Are Family, and anything out of the 70's--not one reggae song even from the steel band! It felt as if we hadn't even left the US.

The grounds of this hotel are very nice and my husband enjoyed the massage he got at the spa. We took the run/walk path out of boredom one day and were eaten alive by mosquitoes.

We know that we will never go back to this resort for all of these reasons listed above. The only saving grace is that I purchased my 4 night package (we only stayed 3 nights due to a booking error that was also very difficult to resolve) half off through Living Social. Instead, my recommendation to anyone reading this is to go to Negril instead, stay on Seven Mile Beach or at the Caves (see my review--it was truly the best hotel & vacation ever).

Room Tip: Stay in Pineapple House if you want to be on the beach or the suites if you are traveling with a lar...

We appreciate the feedback, and are sad to hear that our resort didn't live up to your expectations. We do have a very high number of guests that return year after year, and appreciate you taking the time to experience Round Hill firsthand.

My wife and 17 yr old daughter spent Mardi Gras week in Round Hill and had a fabulous vacation. The staff was awesome and addressed us by name. The food was delicious and we enjoyed every meal. Breakfast was prepared in our villa or at the wonderful buffet with fresh fruit, made to order eggs, omelets and smoothies and delectable breads and muffins. The general manager, Josef, was extremely courteous and made sure the staff were on top of everything. Our villa had a private pool, housekeepers and a gardener that were as accomodating as they could be. The water sports were so much fun and the staff, Hercules, and Moon were incredible. We did not have the meal plan but had breakfast complimentary by booking through AMEX travel as well as a room upgrade. I highly recommend this resort to the descriminating traveler who enjoys luxury and top service.

Room Tip: The villas are so nice and have either a shared pool or private. The hotel seemed very nice and had...
