Been coming to this village on and off since 1989 since I was 11, and now bring my own family. This is the 4th year in a row we've been, we stayed in cabin 301.

Our cabin was directly opposite the park where the kids made good friends before and after our days out. We visited Barmouth, Porthmadog, Greenwood Forest Park, Llandudno and Betws Y Coed. The site is excellently positioned for all these plus many other places or you can reflex on site for a day and recharge.

A couple of evenings we visited the Rhiw Goch for a meal which was lovely, with great views and a nice garden for the kids to play in.

Me and my two boys have recently stayed at the village for our 14th time! They were 8 & 5 the first time, now theyre 18 & 15. Snce they were young theyve always enjoyed the grass playpark for playing football on, theyve always found what they like in the shop on site, and the one time we had thick snow there one february it was magical too for them, as i think by the time of that visit it was our 10th stay and we hadnt put the snow in snowdonia until then! (I think we have done 8 summers and 6 winter stays so far). We have used cabins 357, 358, 359, and 354. Each is fine, each has its own character too, but theyre always clean, tidy, very functional, and homes from home. At the age the boys are at now, i always think i will never be able to drag them on holiday with me again, but, i have said that for the last few years but they still come, so, i pray for another one in 2014! The cabins always have the kitchen essentials you would want, and bathroom essentials, and cosy lounges. From the outside the cabins look like...cabins....inside theyre like a cottage, theyre very cleverly kitted out. To view this, if you select a cabin on the website, they all have a video of snaps of the rooms to give you a guided tour. Speaking of touring, what is there nearby? Well the pub the Rhiw Goch is a few mins walk away at the top of the site. The welcome there is always warm, the range of beers excellent, and the food is always good and plentiful. Places to visit within half hour or so in the car are, Bala, blaenau ffestiniog and the railway to porthmadog, llechwedd slate caverns, dolwyddelan castle, betws y coed, porthmadog and black rock sands, criccieth and its castle and beach, pwllheli, harlech and castle, barmouth and its market and beach, and dolgellau. Within an hours drive is aberystwyth, an immaculate seaside town. As you are self catering we recommend not packing much food, and going to do a weeks shop at tesco in porthmadog. If it rains and your family swims, go to porthmadogs leisure centre,a good clean pool. For a treat, aside from dinner at the rhiw goch, and home cooking in your cabin kitchen, you might fancy a takeaway? Recommended are the superb chinese in blaenau ffestiniog the taste garden... Or for indian its a dead heat between the alam tandoori in blaenau too, or the lemon tree in penrhyndeudraeth nr minffordd and portmeirion. The two indians are restaurants as well as takeaways, shold you wish to eat there rather than take out. If you want to go to snowdon its not the easiest drive in the world as you would expect in the mountains, but, aside from a few narrow bits the road is excellent all the way... We recommend the route from penrhyndeudraeth passing through beddgelert. So, plenty to see, and plenty to do. And if youre into cycling, the surrounding area lends itself well with its many cycle paths. Llechwedd has even opened some varieties of cycle scrambling and stuff as well as tracks (sorry i dont know how to technically describe it any better!). If youre a cycling family, great. If youre an older couple wanting some peace and quiet, again you should be fine, the place is tranquil and although the cabins are often all being used, we rarely see or hear any neighbours during our entire stays. For younger kids the playpark has some swings and a little assault course to keep them occupied, its great for them to go to in complete safety from your cabin for hours on end without you having to worry, as the site doesnt have through traffic, and i find everyone looks out for each others kids when we send them to the park, and kids also make new friends there too. Theres always plenty of room in the cabin for families. Anything you forget to take with you theres no need to worry, the staff in the reception area in the shop are absolutely wonderful, they cant do enough to help you, every one of them. Always a very warm welcome. If you want newspapers or cleaning essentials or food including frozen foods, bread, milk, bacon etc, beer even, its all there in the shop. All in all, i cant recommend the log cabins highly enough. Every time me and my family leave there i am utterly distraught, 50% due to knowing another family holiday is ending, and 50% due to leaving our home from home. I do hope we can come back again for a 15th stay, meanwhile i recommend that You go and stay there too! If youre doing it for the first time, and are a bit apprehensive, and just want to dip your toe in the water, perhaps the weekend offers are a good way to test it out, or a midweek break which outside of the main holiday weeks are often on offer with three or four nights stay for the price of two. Finally if you think the cabins are a little expensive to rent, i reassure myself that theyre well worth it due to the wonderful support of the team at the shop/reception who staff the site, the maintenance team who repair and upgrade the cabins regularly, the cost of your electricity use and water use etc is all fully inclusive there are No Hidden Costs at all, and you have the use of such cosy homely facilities in your cabin which is always meticulously cleaned before your arrival. Enjoy your stay!

Room Tip: Search by cabin size, then watch the videos to see inside each cabin. Choose cabins near the playpar...

This was my third time at this holiday village and im hoping to go again in the new year. The cabins were still well equipped and comfortable even though we down graded and got a smaller cabin as we had less family come with us things were still ideal. They are spacious and we were worried that as we had a smaller cabin they wouldnt be but no problem. We stayed in cabin 33. The staff are brilliant and friendly. You can go for walks around the site which is vast or around the area. A lovely site for people on their own, or couples or families. In fact suitable for everyone.
Lovely playground for children. You will need a torch for the evenings. Also a very quiet site no noisy neighbours anytime we have been there. Cannot wait to go again. I had to put swimming pool and fitness centre as a rating of one but thats because there are not any.

Room Tip: The bunk beds we had in our cabin fitted two adults comfy but it all depends on size of adults and h...

Many thanks for your review. It's really lovely to hear that even though you have stayed with us 3 times already, you are still planning on coming again next year. We are really pleased to hear that you liked our smaller cabins and that you enjoyed the play area etc. We are often told how peaceful and relaxing our holiday village is and so its nice that you felt that especially as it was during the 6 weeks summer holidays. Thanks for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again next year.

Stayed for a week at the end of July. The accommodation was well equipped and clean. We were just over the road from the dog exercise field as well which was fantastic. Great walks all around and we had the bonus of wonderful weather for the whole week.
I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and hopefully we will be going back again soon.

I'd never been to North Wales until this year, was always a Devon/Cornwall goer, but I have just booked my third trip back since May.

Previously stayed at the lodge adjoining the Pub at the top of the site (also excellent) while some of our party had a lodge. I returned in July for one night with some friends on a mountain biking trip as a stop off. Perfect setup for that. Now returning again in two weeks for a few nights stop over with my young family.

So flexible and communications are excellent. Perfect stop point for any mtb/hike holiday we've never used a car whilst staying. Good shop on site and everywhere kept in good condition.

Slightly smitten with the whole area.

Many thanks for your review. Lovely to hear that you will have visited us three times since May, you obviously like our village and Snowdonia. As you have already discovered Snowdonia has something for everyone, be it Walkers, Mountain Bikers, Families or couples, so its lovely to hear that you are taking full advantage of that. Thanks again for your review and we'll see you in a couple of weeks.

This was our first family holiday and with 3 children aged 6,5 and 2, we wanted somewhere self catering and central to a variety of days out and activities. Check-in was easy and we found our cabin to be spotless and had all the essentials. The children enjoyed playing in the park and meeting other children. Considering it's quite a big site, we found it to be very peaceful and a really good location to visit North Wales. We live in West Wales so it was only a 2 hour drive for us but perfect for a family who doesn't like travelling far. We visited Greenwood Forest Park near Caernarfon, Beaumaris Castle, Llanfair PG and Conwy which were all about 1 hour away but worth a visit. Closer were Betws y Coed, Porthmadog and Portmeirion which we thoroughly enjoyed. This has been a really relaxing holiday even though we packed a lot into the 4 days but we would love to return to Trawsfynydd Holiday Village next year.

Thank you very much for your review. We are really pleased that you enjoyed your first family holiday away with us and that you liked the cabin, village and surrounding area. We are often told that kids make new friends on the park and that our guests are amazed how quiet our village is, even though it is quite big. You certainly did pack a lot in, so its nice to hear that you still managed to relax. Thanks again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back again next year.
