“Perfect example of a sleepy italian village with breathtaking views and a wonderful host.”
Reviewed September 6, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Giovanna was a wonderful, considerate host who provided a friendly welcome and an essential food pack including fruit milk tea coffee, ect a wonderful homemade cake and Limoncello. We did initially have some problems with the wifi but he traveled 30 km to sort it out for us.
(If you use Google maps to provide you with a route to the appartment from Genova airport, don't follow the shortest route which will take you up a farm track directly up the hill!! - take the main road from San Lorenzo al Mare)
The appartment was perfect for a family of four with two teenage girls requiring their space. It was nicely decorated and very clean and tidy. We thoroughly enjoyed having a bbq and breakfasts on the terrace looking at the beautiful view. The appartment is set within the heart of a truely picturesque rustic village. It was lovely to listen to the ladies of the village greet each other and chat in the village store just below the terrace. The village shop itself is a delight with the wonderful Ide welcoming everyone. Despite at one time being very small the shop was full of fresh local produce and remarkably well priced.
As with all villages and towns in the area the church bells mark each hour of the day and half hour as well as each service. The intial down side of this is that the church bell tower is less then 100m from the appartment. We were at first very concenred with this as I am a very light sleep (my husband keeps me awake with his breathing at night!!), but within 48hrs we had tuned out to the bells to the extent we no longer heard them at all at night and barely noticed them during the day. In fact bar the church bells the village was utterly peaceful and absolutely tranquil. During thre day and evenings it was almost completely silent.
We all felt very safe in the area walking around between Costaraineria and Cipressa of an evening or just in the village. One day I left my wallet and phone in our hire car overnight and it was still there in the morning!!
We were hoping we would be able to walk to the beach as it is apparently only 1km away, however the hill is so steep and there were no obvious path down the hill that this was not partical, however San Lorenzo al Mare is only a 5 minute drive with plenty of reasonable parking, so this was not an issue. The beaches in the area are generally small with mix of stone, pebbles or sand.
If you are gluten free it's not as easily as we initially read but some restaurants will make a pizza with two days notice and the fish is very good.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Italy and Giovanni and the appartment were wonderful.
Grazie Mille Giovanni

“Absolutely perfect!”
Reviewed September 6, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We have spent 6 nights in Giovanni's apartment which was an amazing experience. The house was perfectly equipped, having an Italian dinner on the terrace with a breathtaking view to the sea was like a dream. Costanairera is a small and romantic village where the time stopped. It took only 8min to get to the beach by car. Right at the house is a small but very well equipped shop where you can get the best focaccia.
We have met Giovanni only at our check out but I feel like we would know each other for ages. His confidence and helpfulness in every matter is something really special. Giovanni, Grazie mille per tutto!!!! Tunde

Grazie a voi! Fa piacere sapere che l'ospite ha gradito la vacanza, soprattutto dopo tanto lavoro per rendere la casa confortevole. A volte bastano piccoli gesti per far si che l'ospite si senta il benvenuto.
