Antica Locanda Lunetta Bed & Breakfast

Delightful Barbara and Agostino run a superb house, much more than a B + B. The premises are beautifully renovated with style and all modern comfort combined with respect for the beauty of the stone and wood fabric of the old building. The breakfast was superb, a delight. We were encouraged to use the barbeque and advised on the best local source for our meat and food as well as the use of kitchen facilities. Outstanding welcome, very special.
Our hosts were knowledgeable and helpful, we had lots of suggestions for places to eat and visit. This is a fantastic base to explore the mountainous area north of Cagliari. The roads excellent and almost empty but for the occasional flock of sheep, the countryside stunning. A real find.

From the warm welcome to the incredible room, the immaculate cleanliness , everything in this B&B was top notch. In fact, it should be called a boutique hotel! Barbara and her family were always happy to give us information and advice about their area, restaurants and everything in between. Breakfast was divine, sardinian specialities which were always a treat. In short, an incredible place, gracious hosts and we hope to return if only to spend more time in this enchanting area and B&B.

The first thing that strikes you with this bed and breakfast is how beautiful it is. The original Italian Stone house has been perfectly preserved at the same time as the house has been totally modernized with a plexiglass staircase which melts the old and the new. The decor is very tasteful with great attention to detail. Yet the best thing about staying here is the excellent service and friendliness of the owners. The breakfast is fabulous with fresh bread, lovely coffee and fresh fruit salad. The village is in a quiet beautiful rural part of Sardinia, yet it is only one hour from the capital Cagliari. We had a lovely but short stay, wish we could have stayed longer.

We have just gotten back from a long weekend (three nights) at Agostino and Barbara's little gem of a townhouse in Mandas, in central Sardinia. Mandas is roughly an hour's drive north of Cagliari - get ready for fast, winding roads, beautiful countryside, solitary shepherds tending to their sheep, and quiet historic town centres with barely a soul in sight (though there is always the friendly local to guide you to the closest bar for a fresh espresso and some good advice!).

The farmhouse has a limited number of rooms (and we were perhaps lucky to have the entire place to ourselves for two of the three days), so we made the most of the peace and quiet, the absolutely impressive breakfasts (cheese, sausage, fresh bread, coffee, sardinian sweets, all to die for) the television and DVD collection, and perhaps best of all, the excellent hospitality, and advice from Agostino and Barbara, who were always at hand (but never in the way) to provide the best advice on places to visit, including the local restaurants and agri-tourism places for some genuine, home-cooked Sardinian food.

All in all, would definitely recommend this to everyone.

Antica Locanda Lunetta is a real gem tucked away in a small village in Mandas, you only need stay one night unless you are exploring the surrounding area by car. The B&B itself is magical, you are so well cared for and given treats throughout your stay. It's always special to have a whole fridge stocked in the kitchen with an honesty box. The breakfast is to die for as is their coffee! You must stay here if you have the chance, we will definately return.

Room Tip: Check out their website for the pictures. I imagine all rooms are beautiful.

I can’t do justice with words to this B&B. Also, I will not repeat the information about the place that one can find in the reviews. I agree with all of it and appreciate what the family have achieved. Thanks to, as my wife says “the love Barbara” who introduced the establishment to us, showed us around and saw to our most excellent breakfast. [best continental we’ve ever had in Italy] I was so touched by the décor and excellent restoration workmanship. Everything was comfortable and charming, I think is the proper word. I felt like I was in an art object that emitted grace as well as suited my physical needs. Sounds over the top I suppose, but I am serious. Barbara’s brother even gave us a ride to the train station- offered without us asking. Don’t miss it if you find yourself in or near Mandas.

I was charmed by this place when I saw its website and even more so when I looked up the address on Google maps and discovered to my surprise that if you go on Street View and click the arrows in front of the big gates they magically open into the little cobbled courtyard and you can actually go right inside the house and upstairs! The family that owns this ancient stone building has lovingly and artistically renovated it over many years and the result is truly a work of art. Everything one's eye falls upon is tasteful and aesthetically pleasing. And it is comfortable and peaceful too. We loved staying here, even though it was only for one night (in between two trips on Il Trenino Verde (the 'little green train'). The breakfast was superb. Our hostess, Barbara, made us feel so welcome and her brother even gave us a ride back to the station next morning. The whole experience of staying here will linger long in our memories.
