We went to see the 2nd part of the show.

Some sections are a little bit long and repetitive, but some parts are really fun to watch.

Expect acrobatics monkey, fire and more than 40 dancers + 15+ musicians.

very nice venue. not too big of a crowd. compare to the local tourist oriented venues, if you choose this one you will likely to get more comfortable seats & point of view of the stage. get the evening show ( after 5 pm ) as is more dramatic since they use live fire and stuffs. and again not too crowed usually.

if you don't have much time in bali and would like to skip long ticket queue line and traffic jams to see one in Uluwatu or tanah Lot or else, this is the place. more comfortable and intimate and kids & senior citizen friendly.

note to the owner/organizer :improve your restrooms/toilets cleanliness! that's it

very good actors' performance. mandatory to stay until the end to see the fire dance. it's magical!

The show is absolutely excellent in terms of music, dance, culture, costume, art and theatre. The performers are wonderful! So talented and graceful. It was my first introduction to the Ramayana story and I was captivated throughout the show. I read the story in advance, it was easy to follow on stage but I’m still glad that I knew more about what was going on so that I could appreciate all the finer details. Definitely worth seeing! The Purawisata venue was very nice too, although avoid the overpriced bar - 70K IDR for a small beer!

Firstly I would like to address the issue of the length of the show. Yes it is long but such is Life. The "remote control" generation is way too easily bored as it has no patients to admire something that take far far more than 2 hrs. to prepare and maintain at the highest level of quality. This show has all those factors in it.

Second is the issue of knowing the story. This again is a none started if one is just a bit organized. Read ahead !!!!

I loved the performance. The athletic and artistic performance is on a very high level here. To do what is done in this show takes a lot of effort and patients. That was missed by many foreigners in our group that went to see this. The only things that came to many of their minds after the performance was "God it was so long.". Having practiced martial arts I could appreciate the artistry of the performers as their practice for this over the years must have been exhausting.

I say "Go and see it" as there is very little of this in our Western World.

I am sure most will not agree, but I think this ballet takes too long, nearly 2 hours, to tell the Ramayana story, and some people fall asleep while watching.

On the other hand, this is classic Javanese history, so actuelly a must see, and there is no better place than next to Prambanan, where the temples as backdrop are illuminated and give a fantastic decor.

If you go, suggest to combine with sunset at Prambanan, read other review, where you need only 1 hour. Few places to get some food outside either Prambanan or in front of Ramayana.

if you go and can afford it, book VIP upfront, about 25 euro, but these are the only seats that have normal chairs, all others is just sitting on stone ‘ chairs’ .
