“Peace and Tranquility in the middle of a busy turnpike.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

Near this peaceful spot are a couple of busy roads leading to big neighbouring towns...and you just wouldnt know it.
The beautiful lakes and resident wildlife make for a very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
Try it for yourself!

“Lakes and Reed Beds”

Its a nice location next to the river and the remains of the historic Rye House. The RSPB reserve is surprising large but disappointingly I didn't see anything of great interest actually in the reserve except for the resident buffalo used to keep down growth. (I saw a kingfisher flying down the river outside). There is a fee for non RSPB members.

“Well Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

This RSPB Reserve is fairly local to us so we go quite regularly. It's a good place to go to look for Kingfishers as they usually nest there but the Kingfisher Hide gets very busy during the breeding season. There's plenty more to see on the reserve and we always have an enjoyable time. The paths are good and suitable for disabled access.

“Always something of interest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

An excellent RSPB Reserve just north west of Harlow. It may be close to a sewage works but don't let this put you off. Terns, cormorants and sandpipers are among the regulars with the terns putting in their air displayalong with the lapwings. Kingfishers are regular breeders and frequently provide a show to the delight of all. Well worth a visit.
