“Bridie at Emerald Cottages, Ware, Herts, UK”
Reviewed September 14, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We originally enquired about cottage Pepe, a one bedroom cottage, but eventually took Bridie, a two bedroom place. We stayed from 29th May to 4th September 2015, using the cottage as a base for touring in the UK and Europe. As a result we were in residence for only about half the booked period or less.

Given the length of stay, having a two bed place was a godsend, if only for the extra space to spread our stuff. We also had a friend to stay over for a weekend once.

The cottage was spacious, with two good sized bedroms and a bathroom (shower (terrific), no bath) on one level, and a sitting/dining/cooking area at a lower level, down four steps. The bedrooms had generous storage space in wardrobes and drawers; the double bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable, the single beds in the other bedroom sligjtly less so. There was a small patio with table, chairs sofa and barbeque provided.

Very effective free wifi was provided with no apparent GB limits - we watched sport through a SKY streaming account with no bufering problems. TV was provided in the lounge and each bedroom.

The kitchen had a small fridge/freezer, and a gas cooker. All worked well, though the oven was sometimes difficult to start. Crockery and cookware supplied were adequate. Towels and linen were changed weekly.

Emerald Cottages is located in the village of Leven's Green, along a narrow country road off the A10. There is no public transport. The village of Dane End, which has a pub and general store is about half an hour's walk away. One trek there was enough! We shopped mainly in Bishop's Stortford, Ware or Buntingford.

“Brilliant accommodation and hosts”
Reviewed March 24, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed at Emerald Cottages for 9 weeks while the sale of our house went through. Verity and Steve are very welcoming and friendly hosts and made us feel very comfortable from booking right through the duration of our stay.
The cottages are beautifully decorated and furnished and feel like a home from home (in our case it was our home for 9 weeks) Everything was fresh clean and tidy and nothing was too much to ask. The location of the cottages is faultless, lovely views over the countryside with many places to visit only a short car journey away.
The washing machine and dryer facilities are brilliant and came in handy during our time. Had the weather been warmer we would of loved to have sat out the front of our cottage at the table and chairs and had a nice relaxing evening overlooking the country side. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a holiday rental or short term let. It has been a great stay.

“Perfect Peaceful Countryside Retreat”
Reviewed January 11, 2015 for a stay in December 2014

Stayed here whilst doing Pantomime in Stevenage for 10 weeks. Verity and Steve were the perfect hosts and their cottage was the ideal place for me to stay as I don't like noise or town centres. The nearby village of Dane End has a well stocked shop/Post office and a very friendly pub, The Boot. The cottage itself was spotless and comfortable. Highly recommended.

“Peace and Quiet - we stayed in Pepe, Emerald Cottages”
Reviewed November 5, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

A lovely complex. Friendly, helpful hosts. Welcome pack was good to have - milk, tea and coffee. Easy to find with everything you need for either a short break or longer. Secure parking is a definite plus. Fresh and clean bed linen and towels. Adequately equipped for a self catering stay. There is laundry facilities. Always good to have should you need to,wash muddy walking clothes. Heating was good.

There are leaflets and booklets in the cottage to help you explore the area. We did not know the area and found the information in the cottage helpful.

The owner was quick to respond to emails and phone messages regarding the booking process. Mobile phone reception poor in the cottage but not the end of the world as the signal is good in the car park. This in no way took away from our enjoyment and comfort in staying at Emerald Cottages. We would stay here again and recommend Emerald cottages

The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The modern layout of kitchen dining living area in one space is convenient. The bedroom with en suite bathroom is spacious and would easily accommodate those with mobility problems.
