“Unforgettable Experience ”
Reviewed June 7, 2014 via mobile

Not only was this an amazing experience trekking out in the rainforest seeing the most amazing animals. Python, Macac, Orangutan, crocodile and monitor lizard; but the staff really make this place. From the moment you arrive you are treated like family. The food in the communal lounge/dinning building was excellent.

Have fond memories of early morning football with the staff and late night song alongs when the guitars came out.

Accomodation was adequate considering you are in the jungle. The sound of crickets and frogs made for a deep sleep every night. Bring a torch for the walk to the toilets at night.

Would go back tomorrow. Thank you all so much for the memories.

Guides seem very enthusiastic and knowledgeable .

Accommodation is very is aptly "very basic" but sufficient. Very friendly and relaxed vibe around the camp.

The staff are very enthusiast about soccer and will ask you to play everyday.

A fitting example for good value for money when travelling on a shoe-string. The accommodation is basic, but clean, the staff very helpful and the amount of river-cruises and jungle-treks you get for your money can easily compare with all the posh-options.
Food was even good for a vegetarian - an exception when traveling in Borneo and having a full-board at the accommodation.
I can only recommend to come past - just be prepared for the bare-bones...if you don't like nature stay away...

If you want to have a real Kinabatangan experience, give UT a shot! Food was amazing every meal! Our guides were very informative about the wildlife we spotted! Everything from crocodiles to monkeys, birds and insects. As the trips are at different times of the day with different modes of transport your always looking for something new, the treks were great, the river cruising even better. Accommodation was basic, mattress on the floor with mosi net, no fresh water showers.. but its all part of the experience! Just make sure you take a book as you have sometime to chill out in the jungle! (3d/2n)

Very basic accommodation- a mattress on the floor in an open hut (with a very necessary mosquito net) but great staff and fantastic way to see animals in the wild. We saw an orangutan, gibbons, crocodiles, eagles, snakes, kingfishers, monitor lizards etc.

Had a great time on this trip. Did 3D/2N up the Kinibatangen (sp?) River with Uncle Tan. Saw loads of flora and fauna over the trip cruises/treks, including a fat tarantula, a wild orangutan, proboscis monkeys, macaques, otters crocodiles, special birds and other things, oh and a civet in camp at dusk one night! Food was tasty and plentiful. Sleeping arrangements and facilities are basic, don't expect privacy or any form of luxury. You may be a couple sharing a hut with other other couples, or a group of individual strangers in a sleeping hut. Would be good to have bigger mosquito nets for sleeping, my boyfriend is 6'3" and he had to sleep curled up all night so as not to move the net (the nets are shard in the couples area, one net per couple). A fun and interesting experienced, definitely would recommend, guides were all very pleasant.

Room Tip: Take sun cream, a hat and lots of insect repellant!

We loved our stay at Uncle Tans and particularly found the guides to be helpful , knowledgable and great at spotting wildlife! The camp was basic but gave us a true jungle camping experience, food was great, river tours were special.. Loved it, would highly recommend!
