I was recommended this company by a friend and I really didn't know what to expect but I have defintely not been disappointed. Our guide Fernando has been magnificent with the river cruises we've been on and the staff in the lodge could not be more friendly or welcoming. the rooms are spotless and even without air on, the rooms stay cool with the Eco friendly fans. The food is varied and really good, and if you're lucky, you can get a night cruise with the chef! It's such a beautul lodge, and when you go on the cruises and pas the other lodges on the river bank, you quickly realise this is a cut above! I'd recommend a rain coat, hat and a bucket of bug spray for the excursions, and a decent camera, the things you'll see are amazing and you don't want to miss a thing,

Room Tip: We were on honeymoon and there is no honeymoon suite...all the rooms are the same. but we did get a welcome pack as a present!

We arrived here, coming from Lahat Datu, so only a short boat trip. First impression was great, rooms are big enough, simple but clean, anything you need is there.
First evening we already went on the river for a night excursion, it is truely amazing how many birds the guides see!
Food was not top of the bill, but it was nice. Only one negative thing, the boardwalk-walk is not very special, we did see some cute animals, but a hike into the jungle would have been so much more exciting.
We did see quite a lot of urang utangs (two of the with little ones), and proboscis monkeys!

From the moment we left the harbour at Sandakhan, this was an exciting adventure. On the way to the lodge, which was a 2.5 hour journey on a fast launch, we saw crocodiles and pigmy elephants. The guides were fantastic. They could spot animals within the trees where we could see nothing. While we were on a river safari we saw a gang fight between two groups of long tailed macaques which was both frightening and exciting. We saw proboscis monkeys and of course the highlight was the Orang utan We saw four different Orangs in different environments.

At the lodge, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent served in an open air restaurant, The rooms were comfortable and very tastefully but simply layed out.Every morning we were wakened by the macaques and the hornbills.

There is a boardwalk next to the lodge from which you can see a variety of plants, birds and if you are lucky animals.

We had an extra excursion to a cave where we saw millions of bats and bat eagles.

Overall this was a unique and brilliant experience which I thoroughly recommend.

We have stayed at Sukau Rainforest Lodge many times and found it to be outstanding. It is an excellent facility in a five star location. The local staff are well trained and friendly and are happy to help with any request. The rooms are well appointed and the food is really great. To cap it all off the ecotourism on the Kinabatangaan River are brilliant with the possibility of seeing a range of amazing wildlife. I recommend it highly as one of the world's foremost ecotourism lodges.

Room Tip: All rooms are great

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Sukau Lodge, while there we spotted proboscis monkeys, orangutans (mainly well hidden), crocodiles, macaques (long tail and pig tail), owls, kingfishers, mangrove ring snake, hornbills, monitor lizards, eagles, frogs, silver leaf monkey, egrets, storks, pygmy squirrel, and herons. We enjoyed both our daytime and nighttime (not included in the price) river boat safaris. The food was good and the room was very nice (no A/C, but it cooled off by around 9 pm). The guides were very good at spotting wildlife!
