This is a beautifully situated lodge on the river. As the name suggests it is a jungle lodge so you shouldn't be surprised that it is not a western style 5 star hotel. Limited wifi means that if you can't live without your phone, instagram, Facebook and the like you shouldn't come here. If, however, you want to feel part of the rainforest and just enjoy some quality time with nature then this will meet all those expectations. Absolutely loved it here, would definitely go again.

What an incredible experience. We booked direct with S I Tours and their amazing guide Abbas looked after our every need from start to finish.
We were travelling with our Son who is studying environmental sciences at university, and Abbas was determined to show him as much as possible & wouldn't give up until he found us an orang-utan in the wild !
In the 5 days we had about 15 boat trips, witnessed a turtle drop 74 eggs, released 40 baby turtles back into the sea, went on night walks through the jungle, had lunch with the locals, planted trees, learnt about birds nests and watched them being harvested (very weird but interesting experience) all the whitest being surrounded by the most incredible wildlife in a setting out of the movies.
Couldn't recommend it more and so grateful to have had Abbas (& his boat captain) as our guides / person looking after our every need.

Room tip: The rooms were a bit basic and the food was great for where we were.....

Had one night here and one night at their other lodge further down the river. It was fantastic to stay in wooden lodges deep in the jungle and to see all the wildlife in our boat trips. Also a big thankyou to George our personal tour guide for this section of our holiday he was brilliant

We stayed for 2 nights during a tour. It's a great base for exploring the jungle and river. The room was a bit dark but otherwise comfortable. Ours had a ceiling fan, the bathroom had mini toiletries. The boardwalks were a great place to see wildlife. There were boars in the grounds which liked to gather around the breakfast area. Monkeys were everywhere and we saw a few snakes, crocodiles and a monitor lizard. The windows to the rooms needed to be kept shut in the day incase monkeys popped in! The night boat trip was great, there is so much wildlife to see, the fireflies were very pretty.Food was buffet which was great as being vegetarian I could fill up with vegetables and rice. Staff were lovely and helpful. We also paid a visit to the village across the river and had a lovely meal cooked by a villager, it was interesting to see how they live and cope with only be accessible by boat and only having a medical boat visit every two weeks. The lodge is a great base, we enjoyed our stay.

It is about an hour’s boat ride from the jetty at Sandakan to the lodge depending on how many stops to see animal sightings on route. On our arrival a welcome drink and cold towels, before being allocated our room for the next 2 nights. We had paid for an upgraded room and were allocated RM 30 which had air-conditioning; (at an extra RM100pn) most rooms only have a ceiling fan, we were certainly glad of the aircon. Our room had a KSB, aircon and a ceiling fan, table and chairs, safe and a mosquito plug, a separate toilet and shower but no toiletries. All the windows had wire mesh to keep out bugs. There is no wifi or telephone signal in the area. From the lodge with our guide Leo and boatman Mr Small of Si Tours we did two morning and 2 afternoon/evening boat trips from the lodge and were lucky enough to have only three people in the boat. On our trips we came across orangutans, proboscis monkeys as well as other types of monkeys, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and many birds, snakes and insects. The food in the lodge was good, tasty and well prepared with a buffet of chicken, fish, rice and vegetables on both nights, breakfast is taken in a separate area from the main eating area and the breakfast’s were excellent with eggs, whichever way you wanted as the centre option. During the day when not out on the boats there are various raised walkways around the lodge which give excellent chances to see the local wildlife and we were also give a guided night tour here to. There was an option to visit and eat lunch in the local village which we took up and found very interesting.

Room tip: Pay extra for a room with AC
