I stayed here for two weeks during august 09. I used to take a boat charter to the same location, most asked me how I liked the resort compared to the boat. I will say both have good and bad......
The resort is very comfortable and generally quiet. Rooms are nice and airy and use the natural trade winds for ventalation. (inside tip open the back gate of the bathroom area and the breeze comes right in) THe room has two ceiling fans and a floor fan which aided in the airy feeling. I had a very comfy king sized bed wich was remade daily and the room serviced daily. Nice black out curtains for the after surf naps.
Rooms are very nice for a surf hang out.
Food was quite good and they really had a varied menu, I dont think they had the same salad once and they served two a day. Staff is very friendly and cater to you needs.
THE SURF: some small days, some big days, some inbetween days and quite crowded one of the upcoming swell days. Don't expect to surf here by yourself on the premium days........but I did surf with very few people on 'off hours' tides.
the is no instant " i want to surf now!" at the resort, there is a 10 15 minute walk down the beach to the boat, the boat comes in, navigates the ropes, low tide, anchors, another 10 minutes and then finally out to the surf......want to surf a 8? leave at 7:30. boat stays out with you until you want to come in. ( not really a complaint just a reality)
on the charter you could be in the water in 5 minutes and you sat in the channel and could monitor conditions at all times and pick optimal moments to surf.
the left is always bigger than you think if you are checking from shore.
all in all the resort is quite organized, offers ping pong and pool table, volley ball and a golf pitch hole. Massage is great with either man or alex. and resonably priced.
you pay for drinks of any sort other than cold water.
The manager does a great job of keeping it all going and attends to requests very nicely.
All in all Nemberala Beach Resort is a very nice surfer hangout......
