This place is a real find. A local Dutch friend recommended I book the "high tea" arrangement for my birthday here, and I did. What a perfect, laid-back, enjoyable couple of hours those were. Service was friendly, and the little cakes and sandwiches they brought out were delicious.
Located just a short drive away from Amsterdam, this teahouse is family owned and has an atmosphere that is completely different from anything you can find in the city. You can tell that the owner is passionate about what she does. This place has a real soul.
Open mainly on Saturdays and Sundays during spring & summer, its popular with the locals, so make a reservation a day in advance (especially if you want the "high tea").
The terrace is located just next to a quiet little canal in the countryside. You'll want to go on a sunny day and sit outside. It's very cute, and quite different from anything we had experienced before.
There were a few friendly chickens walking around outside while we ate. We were worried that they might disturb us, but they never did.
Closed December through March, and a tiny bit hard to find, so bring your GPS and check their website in advance to get location details.
This would also be a great place to take a long bike ride to if you're up for a day's excursion and ready for something off the beaten path.
