“Excellent farmhouse”

Tal-Barun farmhouse is situated in the tranquil village of San Lawrenz Gozo. This farmhouse welcomes you with its freshly painted red door and windows. The farmhouse is near the village core and so close to all amenities.

The farmhouse is over 200 years old and retains most of its original features. It is split on 2 levels with the bedrooms on the upper floor.

The farmhouse is very clean and is well kept to high standard. It is also equipped with all the necessary items to be able to cook a proper meal, make tea, coffee etc

There is also a bbq and sunbeds on the roof and it is perfect for watching the sunset.

Our children really enjoyed this short holiday and made sure to make use of the pool as much as possible. The pool and pool area offer complete privacy from the neighbors.

Will surely recommend this farmhouse. Super clean, well maintained and Marvic also makes sure that everything is explained upon arrival

“Nice house but busy road”
Reviewed December 30, 2016 for a stay in November 2016

A very interesting old house that is well presented and gives a good flavour of the Gozo farmhouse interior style. We were met there by Marvik who is a lovely man and who allowed us in early as we were only coming a couple of miles from our previous rental and there had been no-one for him to check out before us. The house is on several levels with different areas to be in, and is quite quirky. Noticed that the information pack is quite out of date (old bus route numbers and phone numbers) and while Malta is square pin electricity, a couple of items (iron and hairdryer) had round pins and we could not find an adaptor (there were two for two round pin table lights but things needing an earth wouldn't fit them). Had a problem getting hot water to the bathroom off of the twin bed room, and generally it takes a fair run of water to get warm water down from the boiler on the roof, which is a shame on an island short of water. Also for winter rentals we would suggest a simple electric wall heater in the bathrooms for space heating.
Found the road outside too noisy for us, as we live on a very quiet narrow lane. The problem is traffic to the housing development opposite, rather than along the road to the next village. Many people might not be bothered by it but it was a problem for us, although it quietens down completely at night. Being on the hourly bus route is absolutely not an issue, you don't hear the buses trundling slowly by. There is a lovely roof terrace but we didn't use it much because of the road noise. In summary a lovely house that we would long to pick up and put down further along the road.

“Very cute”
Reviewed September 24, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The island of gozo is lovely and much more relaxed than the very touristy malta.
The farmhouse is very authentic and very nicely decorated.
Organization is 1A
The main disadvantage is the tiny pool with the cold water even mid-august, as it gets practically no sunlight.

Dear Isaac. Am glad that you enjoyed the island of Gozo and our property! Saying that the pool get no sunlight at all is a bit too far, am afraid! It happened that while you were over it was not the warmest temperature in August! Will be glad to assist you next time with one of our properties!

“Look no further!!!!”
Reviewed April 18, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

If you are looking for something other than the standard hotel room / self catering let then then this is the place for you. The farmhouse is over 200 years old full of character and has been renovated to a very high standard with all the modern facilities you need, wifi ect.
The owner Marvik greeted us at the Farm house which is situated in San Lawrenz, which is a lovely village situated a 5 minute drive from the Azure Window, which is a must see.
Once through the door this place does hit the first impression button with the large sandstone walls and a beautiful staircase that gently winds up to the floor. The house house been decorated with lots of old interesting items such as old sewing machines, type writers and original farming tools, all set up high out of the way of liitle fingers.
Marvik gave us the tour of the property which he is obviously very proud of, this is evident through all the little touches throughout the farm house which makes this place that little bit special.
On our arrival a small hamper pack of cold meat, bread, milk, wine and some traditional cake which was well received while we sorted ourselves out. Our two children, two and twelve loved the place and spent an hour exploring with the liitle one still referring to it as a castle.
There is a small pool in the rear garden which can be lit at night, access to the pool is through a door in the kitched which can be fenced off to stop the little ones gong for an unsupervised dip!
The bedrooms are beautifully done, comfortable and very clean. bathroom / shower room on the ground floor. Both are en suite and there id a further There is a spacious roof terrace with a sea view. This is ideal for a morning coffee, sun bathe or a cheeky BBQ, which is provided.
Across the quiet road there is a small play ground ideal for the little ones.
We did visit at the beginning of April and it can get a little chilly at night but there are gass heaters provided.

The village its self is still a working village and starts quite early. You will hear the honking horks of the mobile grocer and baker who can be flagged down. There is also a small shop the village and a supermarket a 5 minute walk up the road by the craft village. The main building in the village is a magnificent church which is surrounded by a couple of nice restaurants. If you rent a car you are 10 minutes from Victoria and can cross the island to Ramla beach in 15 minutes.

Overall we found this place amazing and perfect for my young family with Marvik being the perfect host. The area feels truly safe and totally laid back which means all you have to do is learn to relax and decide where to visit. I would recommend this farmhouse to everyone.

“Charming farmhouse - full of character and comfort”
Reviewed September 2, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We traveled as a family and stayed for two weeks in June. My husband, myself, with our son and his partner stayed at the farmhouse and my daughter, with her partner, who stayed at the nearby Kempinski hotel. Lovely farmhouse situated within walking distance of the square. Rooftop BBQ & sun loungers with a small pool in the inner courtyard. Marvik and his wife couldn't have been more helpful organizing car & moped hire, even coming out to rescue us when our jeep had a flat battery! Marvik even gave our daughter an extra key so that she could come and go to the villa whenever she wanted to whilst we were there which was very good of him. Highly recommended.

“Great characteristic farmhouse”
Reviewed July 4, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Great farmhouse in the middle of the smallest town of Gozo St. Lawrenz.
a small supermarket, a nice restaurant and a beautiful church are within walking distance.
There is a bus stop right next to the house, so in case you don't have a car you can easily reach the house by bus (that circles over the island).
Marvik is a great host, house was very clean. Everything you need is available, from books and DVD's in the cosy living room, to salt, pepper, oil etc. in the kitchen. Rooms are nicely decorated, beds are good and the outside roof terrace is superb, especially the Weber BBQ which should be used to grill all kinds of fish :-)
The pool in the patio was inviting though somewhat chilly in May.
