Stayed in the Kempinski in March 2014 for 4 nights bed and breakfast
Was not disappointed the rooms were extremely clean and spacious with tea and coffee making facilities which were topped up every day.
It was really warm and cosy which is something i worried about, being a regular visitor to Malta and Gozo I know it can be cold inside, but the rooms were kept at a lovely temperature day and night.
The beds were enormous and extremely comfortable, I had 4 great nights of sleep.
My room over looked the pools with a fantastic terrace balcony which would be amazing in the summer.
The breakfasts were excellent with a large choice of food to tempt all tastes, the breakfast staff were very attentive and very friendly, even accommodating our early visitor with a coffee when he arrived sooner than expected.
I would highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate in staying there in the future.

As with others we found the hotel hard to find after road-works appeared to close the direct route and we spent a half hour or so trying alternatives that also didn't work. It crossed our minds several times about why the hotel didn't simply email all its upcoming customers with instructions on how to get there and from the hotel to the nearby sights (which is also not straightforward due to these road-works). Maybe they think some people will cancel- and maybe they would - but they should in our view be given a clear status on how things are to help decide. In any case if you're going to stay in a hotel that's a bit blighted by these works, much better to know up front. Anyway they aren't telling their guests .

The hotel is not in a great spot and there are no views of consequence from it, but the premises themselves are nicely designed and classy. It's maybe a little bare , but I think that's a question of the design concept rather than any sense that they haven't got round to making the place look lived-in yet. We'd volunteered for an upgrade when booking (note- the sell upgrades here, not give them away) so we ended up paying c £160 per night for a two room/ 2 bath suite that was certainly spacious and had everything we needed. Couple of downsides; first we found the large bed very hard, and slept poorly both nights here. Second we reported a not inconsiderable leak from the main shower on our first morning and albeit that someone had tried to fix it, it was still there to greet the next guests when we left. However in general the staff were friendly, helpful and certainly one young lady went out of her way to resolve a problem I had which was not of the hotel's making.

We weren't terribly impressed by the restaurant. Breakfast was a buffet where you had to call for someone to man the egg station, and the quality of food was in our view questionable. We ate one night in the restaurant where we both felt the food was middling and they accomplished what I'd thought to be impossible- serve an Octopus stew that I didn't finish- because it had no flavour. It was also buy about 30E the most expensive dinner we had in our one week trip to Malta and Gozo. The dinner we had on the harbourfront at Marsalforn the next night was better and little more than half the price. WiFi was a bit patchy up on the 8th floor.

I wouldn't go back- though to be fair that is partly because I wouldn't return to Gozo either. Its a bit quitter and a little prettier than Malta ( to be fair, that isn't hard) but there isn't really a lot to see. A couple of days was about right.

Expensive luxury Superb food. Were not told that restaurant would be closed to other guests except the large party of Germans! Did they pay more? Intimidating. Some staff were abrupt others were wonderful. Had a beautiful ballroom, the perfect venue for entertaining - nothing , while we were there. Picturesque, peaceful and quiet location. Car park outside. Rustic restaurant, craft market, local shop and hairdresser a few steps,Nearby village which we thought would be lovely for picturesque walks, sightseeing and lunches, was inaccessible by foot and car, due to water and sewage pipework being renewed. Locals informed us that the local council had received EU grant money. The work was costing them money in lost business etc but dare not say more. Visited Azure Window when the sea was rough.Amazing!Attended a pilgimage church event. guarded by Mafia types!!! Island easy to get around but use your own orientation. Signs contradict each other. Amusing but.... quaint like going back 50 years +.Uncomfortable.... Left after one week when we had booked 2!.

Room Tip: spend extra to get a southerly facing balcony. important in winter/early spring because there is a g...

Very nice hotel, relaxing ambience, very friendly staff and a beautiful spa area (especially the Hamam). We had a great time there. The only minus is that there are not many restaurants in walking distance to the hotel (during the low season when we were there, the ones that are there were even closed).. But the food in the hotel is really good and comes at a quite reasonable price. Otherwise there is a free shuttle bus offered by the hotel going to Victoria or a public bus leaving every hour. There is also quite a big supermarket close to the hotel. We can also recommend to ask the hotel to organize a winery tour to the Tal-Massar vineyards which are close by!

We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend in February 2014 and I must say customer service is excellent. Also it provides very good quality and superb value for money. Rooms, room service, food, I really cannot find anything to argue about. The only downfall was, and this is hardly the hotel's fault, it took us a looooong time to find the hotel when we arrived, as there were major road works and it was impossible for us to notice the small opening in the bumpy road which led to the hotel. When we finally arrived though, the disappointment was immediately forgotten and everything was worth it. :) Would definitely be back. :)

Room Tip: Room on the 8th floor was beautiful, quiet, large and sunny overlooking the pool.

The hotel is very nice but it is the staff who make it! Nothing is too much trouble for them! It needs to be upkept better. We moved rooms but the new room had an unusable shower..we knew this but we were promised a repair the next day..this didnt happen at all. The food is delicious but if you are vegetarian then you may be disappointed..as with lots of mediterranean hotels they dont really do vegetarian.
The location is not good out of season as there isnt an alternative for eating or drinking. However the hotel does operate a shuttle bus to various parts of the island which is very good. Also local service buses are brilliant! 1E50 for all day travel and the buses are almost always on time. Gozo is a beautiful island and apart from constant building work that is never fully finished its well worth a visit.
