“Wonderful Retreat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2012

I booked at spa holiday at the Kempinski on Gozo and really loved it! Great location, enjoyable walks and bike tours, kayaking along the coast, wonderful spa with great treatments and indoor jet pools, and outdoor pools for sun bathing and swimming... Wonderfully relaxing, great service, delicious food, and Gozo was a great surprise -- rugged nature and beautiful architecture. If I stayed in Rome, I would go for return visits!

Room Tip: I was recommented to pay a little more for a room that overlooked the pool and the ocean beyond -- w...

Besides of course Valetta and the Medina, Gozo was the best of Malta! Kempinski is the haven in my experience of Malta. It has huge pools, gorgeous landscapes, sophisticated interiors, but the wine bar is the place to hang..
For me Malta lacks the sophisticated side of drinking, and given that they produce wine, great wine in fact, that nobody appreciates..go figure..La Caverna, gives you the opportunity to taste them
I took the wine tasting package as part of the accommodation..great value, and my kind of scene.
Its a sexy bar with a great mood, a fire place, a wine library and a very talented sommelier. Dominik is not your typical arrogant sommelier, he spent time with everyone in the bar, and he is really interested in your opinion, and very knowledgable for such a young person. Its a credit to the management.

Stayed here 5 times now, when it was new it was great, still the only hotel in Gozo worth staying at. Unfortunately time is now taking its toll, couldn't get a decent shower as it would be either too hot or too cold, sad for a 5 star hotel.

The bathrooms in general now could do with updating, Pool not heated and was not cleaned as should be, Its always a very relaxing stay though unless you are there on a public holiday weekend when it seems a lot of Maltese people arrive and then you will notice how badly soundproofed the hotel is. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance otherwise a car or the bus is in order.

The top rated hotel in Gozo has got everything you could wish for; expect perhaps authentic rustic charm of a homely farmhouse B&B ; but that's not what is on offer here. Indulgent, luxurious palace set in lush landscaped compound in sleepy San Lawrenz; relaxed and unpretentious; THE ultimate civilised unwinding idyll from the rat-race. Restaurant probably not the finest on the island (that's Ta Frenc see my other review) but still in line with 5* expectations. Great bar/lounge for chilling out (brilliant cocktails) plus a recently opened wine-bar to disappear into. Beautiful dining balcony terrace catches the sunrise and sunset for that essential mediterranean-warmth. Superlative jaccuzi/heated pool can be a fab pick-me-up or a melt-away therapeutic haven depending on your mood; the mixed local/multi-national staff look after you correctly (as they should). yes it's a bit remote; but that's the whole point; if you want to rave please go to Ibiza. Spectacular local scenery and places of interest within 30 mins walk (5mins for at least 3 good eateries) or 10mins by bus/courtesy bus to Rabbat; just plan a bit to make the most of it. Not the cheapest although you can get some amazing deals. This place lives up to its top star rating; once you've been it can be addictive! (our 5th time) whatever traveller you are it does deliver - so you can guess we'll be back...

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are the prettiest. most luxurious and you get the sunset. Country view rooms slight...

Stayed here for 2 nights after a 4 night stay in Valletta. What a difference in the pace of life! This hotel epitomises relaxation. The hotel is situated in the north west of the island, very close to the Azure Window. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by a very professional and efficient Sylvie at the desk. We arrived a bit earlier but were in our (free upgraded) deluxe room within 20mins. We were wandering the grounds and she tracked us down to show us to our room. The room had a wonderful view, from the balcony, over the pools and to the surrounding countryside.

We ate in the lounge the first night and had lovely cocktails (blue hour between 6-7 means cheap cocktails!) and a nice pasta and burger. For the second night we tried a restaurant not far from the hotel. The breakfast was amazing - plenty of choice and service was excellent.

The room itself was very well appointed. Large bed and large telly. You could sit out on the balcony for most of the day soaking up the relaxed atmosphere and views. The gardens are beautiful. My wife went for a swim in the heated indoor pool and enjoyed the facilities there (it was still too cool to swim outside!).

All in all, we were impressed with our stay in the Kempinski and would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay on this beautiful island of Gozo.

Room Tip: If you like a balcony with plenty of sun, try to choose a room on the right hand side of the pool co...

Totally amazing hotel and spa. Myself, husband and 4 year old Daughter stayed last week and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is simply beautiful, staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for you, service is friendly and faultless, rooms and all areas of the hotel are immaculate - fantastic house keeping team! food was simply divine, spa was stunning, child friendly and every member of staff made our Daughter feel like a Princess. We have had the opportunity to stay in many 5 star hotels over the years (as I have worked in the industry for over 20 years!) Its often hard to please a guest if they come from a hotel management background however, this hotel, food and staff exceeded all our expectations and was exceptional in every aspect! As my Husband says Kempinski is our preferred hotel chain from now on. We would love to return to this hotel in the future and cannot wait to stay at another one of the Kempinski properties. THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone at the hotel.
