We had a lovely week long stay in Xlendi. The flat is spacious, clean and well equipped and suitable for both a couple or a family. Tucked away down a quiet side street yet near to the sea front, the apartment is close by to the restaurants and bars of the town. The apartment has a fridge freezer, hobs, washing machine and TV, Xbox etc (which we didn't have a need t use). Unfortunately there is no parking directly by the apartment though the town car park is only about 100 metres away (just be careful not to park overnight under a tree unless you want it decorating by the local birds). A welcome pack of bread, milk, margerine and wine was there for when we arrived which was appreciated. Xlendi itself is also probably the nicest location we visited on Gozo. Overall if you are looking for an apartment to rent we would recommend staying here. Just be aware though that the apartment is on the third floor and there is no lift in the building, though this was not an issue for us.
It definitely has a more homely feel than any other apartment I have looked at in Gozo and Malta. It is peaceful and tucked away, yet is close to the centre of Xlendi and to the beach. There was a 'welcome pack' which was appreciated and also some basic provisions such as cooking oil and washing up liquid which was very thoughtful. There were also extra cosy blankets and portable heaters.
I spent a week there on my own in March and the weather wasn't very warm so I did miss having some sunshine during the second half of the day (there is sun on the balcony only in the morning). This latter fact would undoubtedly be a plus during the hotter months of the year. You do have to carry luggage and shopping up three flights of steps but I didn't mind this too much. In general I was happy there.
We stayed in this apartment for 5 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period and it was like a home from home.
The apartment is lovely, bright and spacious. It is especially lovely in the morning when the sun is shining over the balcony and you can sit outside, looking at the view and eating your breakfast.
Just a minutes walk from the waterfront and restaurants, it is an ideal place to stay.
Xlendi itself is a fantastic town and having been all over Gozo now, Xlendi is in my view, the best place to stay and we would definitely stay in this apartment again.
My partner and I stayed at this apartment for a week from mid-September and were overall very happy. The apartment would even suit 4 people comfortably, having 2 bedrooms and spacious living area and a balcony. The WiFi also worked flawlessly, which is important these days. The owner Elaine gave us detailed yet easy to understand instructions on how to get to the apartment.
Although this did not bother us, I should mention that the apartment is on the 3rd floor of a building with no elevator, so people who have trouble climbing stairs might find this difficult. Also, the water pressure of the shower is quite weak, but I imagine that this is the case all over the island.
Xlendi Bay itself is a stunning area. We compared it to the other villages we visited in Gozo and we were extremely glad we chose to stay at Xlendi. There is a great selection of restaurants close by, favourites being The Boat House and Ta Karolina both of which are closest to the apartment. There is even a tiny shop with essential items in the village but the closest "super market" is in Munxar or Victoria.
If using public transport then note that there is just one bus that runs every hour to Victoria, where you will have to transfer onto another bus to go anywhere. Journeys can take a while but that was not too much of an issue for us as we were on holiday and taking it slow. We also walked a lot and took taxis occasionally.
We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend this apartment to others.

PROS: Xlendi is a friendly hamlet of a resort with a delightful bay for safe family swimming and excellent restaurants to choose from and good water sports choices. Not a clubbing spot so very pleasant and live music at a number of the restaurants throughout the week we stayed. The buses make getting about very easy and a hire car unneccesary.
The accommodation is ideal for 4 and manageable for 5 (as we were). It is a good spec and the balcony offers additional space. We spent very little time in but its really handy to be able to head back for lunch and then return to the beach/sea for more snorkelling. Good wifi. Easily arranged transport through owner from airport and key safe makes access arrangements with others very flexible.
CONS: - very minor really - limited food shopping options, cicada's in adjacent shrubs and air conditioning. The building is well soundproofed. The fans and existing mobile unit help move air, but not cool. It takes a while to adjust to heat and background noise of cicada's and allow air flow through the building. Working mobile a/c units would top things off wonderfully.
SUMMARY: Lovely apartment in a delightful resort, away from the clubbing crowd with a wonderful and safe swimming area and dis proportionally high number of good restaurants
The Azure Escapes,,,,,This is A Top little flat!!!!...Put it on your list of places to stay! my wife and i stayed here for a week In September!...and we were very satisfied with the Flat Very clean and well maintained!... there was cooking facility's if needed!... Bars and pubs 2 min walk and the restaurants in the area are fantastic!... A Must !...but Book well!!! ahead!... to avoid disappointment! i love this place love Xlendi and Gozo and Malta! Cheers, Winston .
I have stayed in many rental places in Gozo and this was the only one which was as good as the description. It has an ideal location in Xlendi that has easy access to the middle of town but from a quiet back street.
Xlendi itself is a small village with a wide range of restaurant's ( & a great gelateria ), a selection of dive shops (I recommend Utina) and regular bus schedule to the whole island.
The flat is clean and well appointed, Elaine is more than helpful.
There is no air con, but with fans & tucked against the cliff it was cooler than other places I have stayed in during the summer & a maid comes in once a week to refresh the place.
The guide books to Gozo recommend ear plugs and I would go with that, One Saturday night there was a bazuki band playing that I particularly wanted to sleep through ( heavy day diving) and there can be noise from the local wildlife (feathered).
I am already planning my return.
