I visited the Hotel in May for a 2 week holiday, joining friends there. We had all been to the hotel several times in the past 15-20 years. The hotel advertises itself as a 'boutique hotel'. This is clearly NOT the case. It is shabby and run down; the same bed linen, curtains, shower curtains, etc were there 8-10 years ago (as in our photos!). The chef (Frank ) has gone (to The Village Inn) and his replacement is awful! Rude, surly, bad food....They are now run by the owner's son - a rude young man with no 'people skills' whatsoever. Every day was an argument. Several guests complained, had no response and some even left early!!!The place was like a fast food joint, noisey, rushed and no atmosphere. The pool on the roof area was monopolised by a young mother and her children after they had turned the breakfast room upside down every morning. She was completely indifferent. The restaurant often closed before 9pm as there were no takers for the low standard food. Troughs and pots, once full of welcoming flowers and shrubs, stand neglected at the front & rear & roof of the hotel. Cleaners struggle with the poor pay, fewer hours and shabby, out of date decor. Breakfast is a self service affair - akin to an early Butlins - with cold coffee, no cooked menu...Mass coach parties have taken priority over long term returners...Manager of long-standing, Joe, has been retired out, but comes in to keep the peace when things get out of hand.
Very, very sad.We shall NOT be returning to the Hotel again, though look forward to our 2nd visit of the year to Xlendi in September.OL, D&B McG, NC, BW, FW, JO'B. LOnond and Ireland.

Booked a double room at the St. Patrick's Hotel for one night (22 June 2009). We read mostly positive reviews and were attracted by beautiful Xlendi bay.

The hotel's location is perfect. It is right by the sea with excellent views over the nice blue waters of Xlendi bay.

We got an inner courtyard room, so no sea view for us. The room was quite small and very dark. Had it not been for the flat-screen TV, we would have thought that the room was straight out of the 1970s. The bed linens were old. In the bathroom, we discovered towels that were once white with holes in them and the faucet had lots of limescale (see photos). Teere was mold around the air conditioning vent. At night there was some noise coming from the inner courtyard (any conversation from the ground floor could be heard).

We asked the night receptionist for a kettle. After some searching, he brought an old kettle covered with dust.

Breakfast was a cold buffet with some vegetables, fruits and boiled eggs. Two waiters were walking around; although there were about 5 persons in total in the restaurant, they barely noticed our presence. For beverages, there was a juice and a coffee dispensers. Both provided disgusting drinks.

The owner definitely needs to spend some money renovating this hotel. If you still go there, make sure you book a room with a sea view and don't expect too much from this "4 star" hotel.

We went to Gozo for my brothers wedding in june 09 and found the island totally unspoiled, very very beautiful and extremely relaxing. Gozo is definately not the place for you if you are looking for a wild partying holiday, but is perfect to relax and unwind in, or even get married! The St Patricks hotel was lovely, very clean, friendly staff who could not do enough for us (without being overbearing) The rooms are lovely, basic but lovely!! We had an internal courtyard room, obviously cheaper than rooms with sea view, but for what we paid could not expect more. The room was spotless, the bathroom was huge, almost like a another bedroom, Air con, mini bar at very reasonable prices, channels on the flat screen tv (english channels), regular maid service, comfy bed and nicely decorated!! The breakfast was a buffet style, with ham, cheese ,eggs, bread, fruit, yogurts etc and as in a previous review i did not see flies landing on the food, although if eating outside they certainly do like to try share youre meal!! We did have dinner one evening in the hotel restaurant which was only ok in comparison to the other restaurants on the prom but the service was great, was not too impressed with the dinner though but it was 15 euro pp for 3 courses which was very cheap. The bay is a stones throw from the hotels front door, in fact it could not be any closer without the guests getting splashed by the sea whilest sitting on the prom. I think it is perfect here for kids, very safe and away from roads traffic etc. The roof top splash pool was ideal for the kids also, and us big kids had a good laugh in it with them, jaquzzi also up there on the roof if you wana add a few bubbles to the fun. Xlendi itself is stunning with very friendly locals, nice souvineer shops and a few nice restaurants, ice cream bars and Cisc. This is the local beer and it is yummy. Two beers for less than a fiver, happy days!! We took a half day boat trip from Xlendi to comino island and around it, blue lagoon, crystal lagoon, elephant head etc, highly recommended, 50 euro for two inc a buffet lunch out at sea which was so lovely.. All in all i thought this hotel was very nice, Xlendi out of this world and Gozo in general the perfect little place for some sun sea and relaxation. Were only back 1 day and i miss it already :( Hope my review was helpful, i was as honest as possible, it just so happens i couldnt fault any part of our holiday at all.

And it was nice to be back, having visited Xlendi many times over the past twenty years, it holds a special place in our hearts.
This is the third time we have stayed at St Patricks and have to say it's looking pretty tired now.
Although the staff and location are both excelent the furniture is in dire need of replacement.
We first stayed ten years ago and whilst it was good to meet up with old friends, we did not expect to have to include our hotel bed as an old friend, totally worn out and very uncomfortable.
Although some may say this is the "charm" of Gozo, not so, the owner needs to invest in his properties if they are to continue to entice tourists to this island gem in the Med.
Would still chance it again though, just a fantastic location and great people.

Stayed at St Patricks for 3 nights at the end of November. The day we checked in we both went down with flu, so we tended to eat then sleep and then get up for an hour then sleep again. The waiting staff were really good during our illness - if there was anything we wanted off the menu it wasn't any trouble for them to cook it. We had a seaview room but without a balcony which was perfectly OK- it was comfortable and clean and the mini-bar was not at all expensive so we had no reason to move anywhere else when we had a temperature. We booked through Alpharooms and were paying about 25Euros a night and we were exceptionally happy with the Hotel and Restaurant. We will definately return and hopefully make better use of St Patricks and its facilities.
