“Georgeous Gozo”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We decided at the last minute to split our holiday to Malta and spend a few days on the island of Gozo. Have to say it was amazing. We stayed at Villa Bronja in Xlendi for four nights. Beautiful village and Manoel and Pauline were extremely hospitable meeting us on our arrival The accomodation itself was lovely, clean and all amenities were provided with a nice terrace to the front where we ate our breakfast and lunch. We didn't use the pool as the sea was less than a five minute walk away and was just amazing,so clear and calm like a bath!!!. Manoel was always available if you needed him and full of helpful advise. He really saved our bacon on the last day. We were let down by our taxi service through resorthoppa.com and, even though we disturbed him from watching his beloved Bayern Munich, he still sorted us out a taxi directly to the airport and a really good price. Will definitly go back!

Just returned from a great week in Xlendi village, GOZO, September 2012.
> Xlendi is in our opinion the best place to stay on Gozo. Breathtaking
> views, perfect weather, clear and warm sea with plenty places for
> snorkeling around the island. The apartment was very comfortable, clean,
> quite and nice with a very convenient layout, lovely balcony where you
> could enjoy a restricted seaview and a glass of local wine in the evening.
> Plenty of pans and cooking gear if you feel inclined to stay in and cook.
> We didn't as there were so many nice restaurants to choose from in the
> small harbour area. Large comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Excellent
> water pressure and always hot water.
>
> The house had a small private pool on the roof but we preferred take a
> swim in the sea. It was an excellent place to stay to relax and enjoy
> Xlendi and surrounding areas and also very good value for money.
>
> Manoel the owner of the villa was very helpful and nice and left us alone
> to enjoy our holiday.
>
> Again, in our opinion Xlendi bay is the nicest bay on the island with good
> restaurants and Villa Bronja was 5 mins within walking distance. Probably
> the only downside to the town is the absence of a foodstore (even a small
> convenience store for water). For this reason we would say that car hire
> is essential, nearest shop max 5 mins up the road.
>
> The Gozitans are very friendly, nice and always smile, everyone we met was
> very helpful. Moby Dive shop even helped us out when we locked our keys in
> our car with both our phones! Thank you Kate.
> MobyDicks restaurant on harbour front was in our opinion the best
> restaurant, the chef is apparantly one of the best on the island...the
> food definitely tasted as if he was.Churchills is good too.
>
> It is also very safe place, we could leave our stuff on the beach and go
> swimming and weren't worried at all.
>
> If you are looking for a summer destination where the time stands still,
> the people are friendly and have good attitude, the atmosphere is relaxed
> you should think of Gozo and you will not regret it! We are definitely
> going back as soon as we can...

We stayed at Villa Bronja in Xlendi during Sept 2012 in a ground floor apartment. The apartment was very spacious and clean with a nice terrace area to sit and enjoy a quiet moment. Manoel, our host, was very helpful, especially with his advise on ferry times for our return trip home (timetable on internet was wrong!!). Xlendi is a lovely place and the apartment was within an easy stroll down to the bay. Lots of nice places to eat out (would avoid Ic-Cema though, service was extemely poor) at very reasonable prices. Will definitely return to this lovely island in the future. Would highly recommend this apartment.

We spent a lovely 5 nights in an apartment at the Villa Bronja. The apartment was spacious and clean with a nice little balcony for meals. The pool was small but clean and pleasant. Our hosts were accomodating and welcoming. The only things lacking were screens on the windows, leaving us prey to mosquitos during the night, and the kitchen was not super well equipped in terms of utensils, knives, dishes, etc. Also, the town of Xlendi, although lovely, is very touristic and there are not any grocery stores within walking distance, so be prepared to go to Victoria or Munxar to do any food shopping.

We're Laura and Cristiano from Italy, aged 38 and 39, without children.
We spent two weeks in Gozo in August 2012, and we stayed by Villa Bronja in Xlendi.
Very comfortable, big and nice apartment, very clean and fully equipped for our staying.
We found here exactly what we were looking for: a flat in a quiet place, but not far from Xlendi seaside, from Victoria (Gozo's main city) by bus (just ten minutes!) and from all the other better beaches in the island, all approachable going first to Victoria and from there changing the bus (total travel time: maximum half an hour).
Very kind hospitality from the owners! They currently speak English and Italian, and they're always helpful and interested in how your holiday is going on.
Highly recommended!

We stayed in Villa Bronja in the beginning of May with our 5 weeks old baby, in one of the ground floor appartments. The appartment itself is quite basic (no dishwasher or washing machine), but very spacious and cool when it's hot outside. There is a swimming pool on the rooftop, but unfortunately the pool was leaking when we were there. We were allowed to use the swimming pool of the other villa closeby. The very friendly owner Manoel and his wife organised a hire-car for us ( reasonably priced) to get around and they checked our well-being every day. From the villa it's a short walk to town, were a small strip of water-front restaurants can be found.
Gozo itself is a laid back island, a mix of Arabic, Italian and British style, not yet overcrowded by tourists. I would definitely recommend the place and the island.

Spent first two weeks in October at VIlla Bronja. Aparments are well equipped, clean and very spacious. We had the roof top pool to ourselves as most guest were leaving when we arrived. There are no shops in Xlendi, so Pauline and Manoel kindly got us some grocerys and left them in the apartment as we would be arriving late in the evening. Pauline and Manoel also arranged all out transport to and from the apartments, just remember that the ferry is free coming in to Gozo, but you have to pay going back, it's only a few euro's, so keep them aside! Our taxi and ferry came to about £120 both ways, which we thought was fine considering the distance. Xlendi has no shops, but you can get the bus from behind St patricks hotel which takes you into Rabat which has many shops and only takes 10mins. These buses are regular and have air conditioning, even if a little large for the small streets of Gozo. Villa Bronja is situated on a slight hill from the bay, but don't let that put you off, just don't wear heels!! Would love to come back here soon, I have been to Malta about 10times, but I have fallen in love with Gozo!
