Hotel Ta' Cenc & Spa
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Sannat
Reviewed May 29, 2013

Another visit to Ta 'Cenc and once again not disappointed. If anything the stay has to be rated as one of our best. We were welcomed like old friends, nothing was too much trouble, ALL staff are friendly and very efficient. Food served both in the hotel restaurant and on the terrace is of the highest quality and, equally importantly, served with a smile and a cheery word or two. Brilliant!!
The gardens surrounding the accommodation have improved since our last visit and whilst there was some work in progress it was completely inobtrusive, in fact, the mobile crane being used was the quietest I have ever come across.
Well done Ta 'Cenc, keep up the good work

Whilst set in a peaceful, secluded location both the hotel and grounds have a definite run-down 'seen better days' appearance. Upon viewing the hotel website we decided to upgrade to a trullo - what a disappointment!! The internal space was dark and depressing with a smell of mustiness and in need of an update. The room was not cleaned until late afternoon each day followed by an untidy bed turn down at 6pm. The bathroom was very dark, set in a 1970's time warp and the lighting was poor. The only + was that our outside terrace was spacious and secluded and the spa/internal pool was tranquil and picturesque. The gym was also in need of up an equipment upgrade.
We stayed on a half-board basis and found the breakfast buffet uninspiring with a very limited choice. The evening meal consisted of four courses which looked good on the menu but were bland with a distinct lack of fresh vegetables. The salad bar was a joke!! The desserts were awful - but the service was good!
On our last evening we requested an alarm call for 05.30 and we received this an hour late with the receptionist saying he made a mistake - just not acceptable.
We have extensive 5* accommodation experience and Ta Cenc failed on virtually every count. This is a 3* hotel masquerading as a 5*. We will not be returning.

I was fed up with my stay on Malta, so took the boat to Gozo, and then a taxi to the hotel (booked in advance). My room was very large and had everything you could want. There was a gym (which needs a little bit of upgrading), and a warm swimming pool and spa. The food in the restaurant was OK, and the service was fine. Walks from the hotel were interesting, and the nearby village was worth spending time in. Recommended for a weekend (or longer if you can). While there, a BBC unit was staying, so it must be good!

Room Tip: The rooms outside of the main hotel are best - and you can hear the birds singing.

We stayed at the Ta'Cenc for two relaxing weeks in early April and felt very blessed. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there are two lovely resident cats, and the facilities, food and amenities are all excellent. Victor Borges, the hotel owner, came round to make sure the guests were enjoying their stay. We enjoyed swimming in the heated (30%) outdoor pool in the early evening, and very much enjoyed our evening meals. In warmer weather, you can dine next to a 300 year old carob tree! The hotel is on a beautiful cliff top very close to the sea - and is great for walkers. Victoria is only 10 minutes away and the hotel have three times daily shuttle services. There was a free music festival in Gozo and Malta while we were there that we took advantage off. A beautiful hotel and great island to explore. We will be back!

Superb hotel with stone villas (trulllos), three swimming pools (one heated indoor / outdoor), spa, lucious food with great service. Walk by the sea on stony paths through prehistoric stone ruins. Convenient to the rest of historic Gozo. We never wanted to leave, and will return. Our stay was incredible.

Stayed with my wife and 10month old daughter, half board.

If you are looking for a quiet retreat set away from the hustle and bussle, then this is an ideal choice.

Set in a very remote area of Gozo this is a blissful retreat. The hotel in general is very good. All the facilities you expect with 5 stars. 2 large pools with kiddy pools attached and a heated spa pool (indoor - outdoor).

The whole hotel is a sprawling set of rooms and has an 'set in the country' feel. Room was clean but some fixtures and fittings are dated or in need of a refresh.

Bar and restaurant were very good - half board menu was superb. I chose an a la carte item and had a little grumble at an undercooked lamb saddle but my wife's steak was perfect.

Staff were warm and friendly. I would return again.

I have come to the Ta Cenc this year since 2010 for the 4th time with a spiritual seminar group; I came by myself and with friends about 4 times before already. This time the group was here from May 1st to May 8th, while some came earlier and others stayed longer. Every single person in our group - Germans, Austrians, Swiss - was overwhelmed by the stunning setting, the privacy and cosiness of the bungalow style separate entry rooms ( or rather "apartments" ), the charme of all people in service her, the variety of amenities ( spa, pools, sitting areas ), the wide breakfast selection ( british, continental and maltese ), the quality of food. I have already planned one or two more seminars in 2014. Thank you Rose, Chalue, Neerah, Chris, David, Ferdinand, Michael and all others, and especially of course Victor Borg. One more notable mention: Gozo Garage, affiliated with the Ta Cenc resort, does a truly outstanding job in arranging for transfers from and to Luqa airport, bus excursions on Gozo and to Malta. Thank you Jamie and colleagues!
