Stayed at the Grand Hotel in the second week of March. The location of the hotel is fantastic, with sweeping views of the Mgaar harbour. We were initially allocated a room (I think its called interior room or something) which was shocking to stay the least. I was infact quite surprised that a hotel like Grand could even have a shabby room like that. It was more like a room from a run down motel you'd expect to find in the third world. However, the staff (who were very friendly and ever helpful) kindly upgraded us to a sea view room which was absolutely fantastic. It was larger than average, with a luxury bathroom and large flatscreen TV. We did have trouble getting our bedding changed and only had it changed once during our week long stay (apparently its hotel policy to change bedding only once every 4 days)
The hotel was packed throughout our stay, mostly with Maltese tourists, so it must have a good reputation locally. Breakfast was adequate but lacked variety, with the menu remaining unchanged throughout the week.
The pool was closed for repairs during our stay but was due to reopen sometime in late March. The hotel also has a cinema which shows latest titles every week.
We would definitely consider staying at the hotel again if we return to Malta. A fairly enjoyable stay, despite a few nagging problems..More
