we booked with fleetway travel, booking a seaview room as was suggested by other trip advisor reviewers, we booked overnight stay in birmingham with transfers to airport, then transfers from malta airport to the grand in gozo , all done very smoothly, with a great commentary from malta driver, from williams garage, excellent service, he even bought coffee on ferry and wouldnt allow us to buy him , very nice man . on arriving at the grand we were greated with a cool juice befor being taken to our room .
the view was wonderful . nice for sitting in the afternoon , next door balcony seemed a bit close and not a lot of privacy between the two. the hotel was nice but a bit shabby in parts , the bathroom could do with a makeover but that was my only negative on the room , the breakfast was a bit a dissapointment but ok, the staff were always very helpfull and friendly , reception always helpfull , recomending places to eat and such like.
the opened the pool whilst we were there but didnt tell anyone, the girl who sells the ticket on the harbour for ozzi 1 tours told me . so we had the pool to ourselves for the whole day , with lunch and drinks brought to us on the terrece .all though i can imagine it gets very crowded in the summer months . we would stay there again , we got what we went for nice peacefull, quite, nice resturants on the harbour , not to far to walk , nice stroll back. but if you want to splash out after eating in mgarr go to ta franc wonderfull food service and setting for a more refind evening. steer away from prawn salad in the day in cafes and such, not good , warm tinned stuff not good for your health.
OZZI1 tours do boat trips round comino and the blue lagoon , great couple very friendly and keen to chat, always said hi when passing , give them a go we had a great day. overall the grand was grand , warm friendly , relaxing, gozo the same , fun on busses. everyone eager to please, marsalforn , xlendi lovely for spending a few hours in the sun . not so good for children not a lot for kids to do , relaxing hols for mam and dad to escape for a week if you can

Great little hotel with fantastic views. The view is worth every extra Euro you pay for it, so go for it! We had superior sea-view suites which we found to be very nice, delciously decorated and very clean. Every comfort imaginable present. Lovely bathrooms, including a nice Jacuzzi bath in each room for a really relaxing soak. Breakfast was substantial and varied, dinner (on full-board facility) maybe slightly less so, but food was good, but nothing too fancy. Very attentive and courteous service throughout, by all hotel staff without any exception. They went to all the trouble to see that our short stay was a comfortable one. We cannot thank them enough. Would go there again!

For our first holiday together, my wife and I wanted to choose somewhere a little different than the norm. Some friends had recommended Gozo, and so we looked into it and decided to bite the bullet.

We were so glad we did. The island of Gozo is like an undiscovered gem, and the Grand Hotel is an absolutely fantastic place to stay.
It's easily walkable (although uphill) from the harbour, and the views are wonderful, provided you have a sea view room.

The food is fantastic, and the staff are among hte most friendly and helpful I have every encountered.

They run a free minibus into Victoria (Rabat) most days, and always have some excursions to go on. I would suggest hiring a car though, as it would make you less reliant on the excellent, but slightly erratic bus service.

This was a lovely hotel and Gozo is so beauitful, some areas of the hotel are tired and warn, bit compare this with the building and general condition of some bulidings in Gozo, it is great.

We stayed Half board the food was a mixture of English and Italtin great cup of tea and good pasta! The hotel staff worked hard. There was a little cinema which show films most nights and a Jaccqui which was hot and lovely.

We had a huge room over looking the harbour with a balcony worth paying the extra for.

Had the pleasure of staying at The Grand for 2 nights, in peak summer season.
we were told to phone the hotel reception when we arrived at the ferry port, and within 5 mins, the hotel bus came down and fetched us. The hotel is only a short walk from the ferry, but up a typical steep Maltese hill! Of course you couldn't walk it with suitcases.
Upon arrival, we were given refreshments before we were checked in. Luggage was promptly installed in our room.
Only fault I had, the room I booked was country facing. Seeing the view from the pool deck, I should have got a sea view! Decor was modern, and the Aircon was great.
Reception staff were very helpful, and bent over backwards to make your stay comfortable.
We managed to grab a table on the terrace at breakfast, and the view was fantastic. Breakfast was your usual continental fare, but nice! The barmen could mix up any drink you could want.
The rest of our holiday in Malta, more specifically St. Pauls Bay, was spent wishing we were back in Mgarr, at The Grand.
Will Definately return very soon
