I live in England and therefore have access to thousands of Indian restaurants, (and have eaten in many of them up and down the country !).
Staying at the Radisson Blu in Mellieha, we decided to try the in-house Indian restaurant, Essence of India.
We were not sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of most of the dishes we tried.
I would go so far as to say that the Lasooni Dal Tadka (tarka dal), Vegetable Samosas and Peshwari Nan were the best I have ever tasted.
The dal was light, clean and beautifully spiced, you could taste every element.
The samosa pastry was short and crispy, (not oily and flaky as you often get) and the filling was delicious, (maybe could have been a little chunkier, if I am not-picking).
The nan was packed with flavourful fruit and coconut, but was still light & fluffy.
The curries were also great, but the above were the highlights for me.
The staff are delightful, mostly from Kerala I believe.
Am thinking of moving to Malta.
