Been to this hotel for the first time and surely it won't be the last time. Had a great time with my friends and with my spouse. It is a very clean hotel, good food, has the basic amenities that a good hotel should possess, large rooms compared to others that I've been to, and most of all the staff there are exceptional. If you need to know what does good service mean, you should try this hotel and your experience would be sooo shiny ;-) just like ours.

Pleasantly surprised - great attention to detail. Very clean and spacious rooms. Friendly staff with an exceptional approach to service. Travelling alone this hotel made my break. Situated on the main street of Mellieha next to a wide choice of restaurants and caffes, Although at the end of the season it was quite full and busy. Breakfast good by any standards - choice of fruit, meats cheeses, breads, cakes, "English" plus a chef on hand to make omelettes to your taste. Great facilities including an indoor and rooftop pool. Spacious foyer with cafe and sitting areas. I could not fault this hotel for the money other than I received an invite for a welcome meeting the day before I left!

Didn't get off to a brilliant start as being a light sleeper asked for a room away from the road. Was told to put the air conditioning on and I quote 'wouldn't hear anything'. I was very tired and thought I would give it a try. it was too cold to have the air con on and the noise is deafening. Woken up at 5.40 am. When I asked to move I was charged a cleaning fee of 35 euros- what a cheek!. This also happened to another guest I spoke to.
I also wouldn't recommend using the room phone - costly mistake. Decline the offer of being shown around the hotel and don't show up for your timeshare meeting.
On the plus side the rooms are nicely furnished and spacious but the mattress was either old or poor quality. I was pleased to go home to get a goood sleep. The food is delicious but didn't dare to eat the starters or desserts as the fly's were all over them. They should have been covered!. All the staff were very helpful and very friendly nothing too much trouble.
Wasn't a hotel for children of any age. Little in the playroom and no entertainment for them. Teenages would be bored. The indoor pool was good, nice and warm.
Great hotel for a base with bus stop directly outside, ideal for couple in my opinion. Avoid the mistakes above and you'll have a great time. Oh and the gym is not accessible?

We stayed for 2 weeks at the begining of august, our room was very comfortable and spacious,it must have been a self catering room as we had a kitchenette microwave ,toaster and kettle, which was handy. We where on half board,i am a chef of 30 years and the food we had we were not impressed with, breakfast was the same, the waffle machine was chaiotic and a mess due to people not knowing how to use it. The evening food.. stews some types of fish, chops, lasagne themed nights, not very well presented left under lamps and luke warm although they did work hard on the bbq night..I later found out the food is prepared at the sister hotel the pergola and shipped down, hence no cooking smells around the hotel. The a la carte restaurant was dead when we where there,i`m not surprised as it is pricey compared to local restaurants. If you happen to book for the a la carte a chef from the pergola comes down to cook.So for the second week we ate out.
The only other downside is the students, its not just a problem with this hotel but all over malta. In the summer months the hotel accomodates up to 20 plus students from the b.e.ls British english language school up the hill in melleiha. They are all in there teens, and can tend to be quite boisterous around the pool and take over the hotel. They have chaperones with them but they don`t seem to intervene when they where messing around. So if you want a break from the teenagers avoid the July to end of August period.
The staff we encountered where very friendly and helpful and our emails where always responded to.The cleaning staff work very hard as you can imagine with 20 plus students to tidy up after.
We did two trips with malta 247 one to sicilly and the other was the catamaran spirit of malta.both where excellent and would reccomend, but beware the sicilly trip was nearly 22 hrs from start to finish a very long day.
We loved Malta and would come back again as we didn`t see everything we wanted, and we would come back to the Solana again despite the students and would go self catering.

Booked this hotel as we were attending a wedding nearby and most of the wedding party were staying here.
It didnt get off to a great start as there were problems at check-in and we got into our room an hour late. This happened to another couple in our party. No explanation was provided as to why check-in was not available at 2pm, we were left sat in reception whilst staff avoided our questions.
Its a shame that the staff were not more pleasant as the hotel itself was of a good standard. Our room was in the new block and was spacious, modern, newly furnished and had a huge bathroom. Some of our friends were in older rooms. These were not as appealing as ours but still fine enough.
There was a busy bar/cafe area next to reception that served decent coffee and offered free wifi. We were B&B so had breakfast in the main restaurant (we ate all other meals elsewhere) and it offered a lot of choice (omelettes, waffles, continental, etc) and was open early.
The pool area was on the small side so quickly got busy. We went to the beach a few times which was about a 25 minute walk away but it is a rather hilly route to get there.
The hotel gym was a real disappointment for a gym junkie like me. It was cramped, had no windows or ventilation, no air con and minimal equipment.
Not sure if I would stay here again but if a friend said they were going I would not dissuade them. It wasn't an awful stay - far from it but I have had better.

We've stayed five nights in the hotel and are really impressed by the service; very clean, peaceful, great atmosphere. The room was huge, personnel is helpful - we felt really welcomed there. Just about ten minutes to the beach, ten steps to the stop of authentical buses, good breakfast and fantastic chocolate cakes in the bar. We enjoyed stay there and would like to come again one day. Thank you!
