My sister and I stayed at the Solana from the 26th April,14 to the 1st May,14, This hotel was recommended by my sister Florence Milner who stayed there last year. On arriving at the hotel was greeted at reception with a welcome drink as our room was not yet ready. Our luggage was stored in the baggage room,When our room was ready we were given the keys and to my surprise we were on ground floor and in a studio room with all the necessary equipment for self catering. The room was clean, comfortable and situated in a quiet place so there was no noise heard from outside. We booked half board and the food was varied, breakfast was average but no complaints. The staff at Bellini was amazing special thanks to Maria, Dorothy,.Vivan and Ruby for making us so welcome and attending to us.To Chaika the chef..(.hey man next time cook us a curry) On the entertainment side more could be done by having some a different variety of shows every evening as there is not much going on in Mellieha. Overall I'm glad to say that I would recommend the Solana and would definitely stay there again. And will certainly request the room 1204. Thank you for your hospitality

Room Tip: Choose rooms on ground floor

Just had another visit to the Solana. Once again had a thoroughly awesome stay. The best asset this hotel has is its staff who are, without exception, the best hotel staff we have ever encountered. Helpful, professional, friendly, efficient and caring does not even cover half of the qualities demonstrated by the staff we met wether they were Admin staff, receptionists, restaurant staff or housekeeping - they were all wonderful! Especially Ariana (reception), Maria (food supervisor), Ruby-Ann (restaurant) and Donna and Charlotte (Cafe Puccini).
Our room was spotless. We had a small maintenance issue in the room on the first night and this was dealt with immediately without fuss or bother the next morning and fixed by the time we got back to the room from breakfast!
We had fresh towels every day and fruit and wine in our room on arrival.
The food in both restaurants was excellent in terms of quality and choice and the service was certainly top standard.
The pools are both nice and clean and well maintained. There us a jacuzzi adjacent to the indoor pool too.
Had some treatments in the spa which were lovely and both therapists ( Michaela and Irena) were well qualified and well trained giving excellent treatments and service.
Overall a wonderful 5 nights stay and will definitely be booking again for next year.
(Only one thing missing - no face cloths - lots of towels but no face cloths.)

See you all next time I am in Malta x

Room Tip: Avoid the front of house if you are a light sleeper

My sister and I have just spent a week at the Solana. What can I say. On arrival the welcome we received was outstanding. Throughout our stay the staff were always on hand to help you and were very informative. Our room was spotlessly clean as is the whole hotel. Towels changed every single day. There are two restaurants for use the Bellini and the Tosca. The food in the Tosca is to die for. The service the staff give in the Bellini is excellent and so friendly and breakfast in Bellini is very good. Buy a weekly ticket on the buses at 6.50 euros for the week and you can travel all over the island. Trip to Gozo will cost you 4.65 euros return on ferry. The San Remo beach bar is also very clean good food and very reasonable prices. e will certainly return to Malta and to the Solana. Thank you Solana for contributing to a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: We were based on the 3rd floor

Stayed at the Solana for 5 days - 26th April 2014 to 1st May 2014 after it was recommended to me by my sister who stayed there last year. I have no regrets. I was very comfortable staying at this hotel. The studio room with twin beds, located on the ground floor was very clean, cool and quiet. The room had all the necessary equipment for self catering - although stay was half board. The Bellini Restaurant was clean - well staffed and the food served was well presented although a little bland. The restaurant could do with a more varied menu. The staff were very friendly and special thanks to Maria, Chaika (Chef), Ruby, Dorothy and Lucas (exchange student on placement) who made our stay really pleasant. The evening entertainment was a "one man" band and although ok - it would be good to see more varied entertainment. All in all a good stay. I would love to go back to Malta and will definitely be staying at this hotel.

Dear Guest,

We are so very happy to read that you have no regrets in having followed your sister’s recommendation of the Solana Hotel & Spa for your vacation on our Maltese Islands.

So sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the choice in the buffet offering. Our Team of dedicated Chefs constantly strive hard at keeping a very good balance of choices to meet all taste buds, while the Tosca Pasta…Pizza… Grill… can serve as a separate dining opportunity when a particular theme night, does not meet one’s preferences.

The entire Team very much hopes there will be a future opportunity where we can welcome you back on board!

Warm regards,

Anne Grima

The hotel is nice filled with many touristic groups. There are 2 swimming pools, one on the roof and one heated in the basement. The room was clean and nice. The views from the rooms are not very spectacular. Some rooms face internal narrow backyard. Staff was very friendly.
