we stayed for one week on a promotional holiday, two weeks before our departure we were telephoned by a member of the promotions team asking if we would like to upgrade to a sea view room, having read on trip advisor that the views were fantastic we readily agreed at an additional cost of £100, my wife was told that our room was terrific with a separate bedroom and a washer and dishwasher, on the strength of this we took with us a few dishwasher and washing tablets, on arrival our room was indeed a sea view however no separate bedroom, no dishwasher, no washer! no matter, it was a nice room but the carpet let it down, an attempt to clean it unfortunately had left it streaky, no big deal but not 5 star! we mentioned the room problem to the hotel quality control lad who had a chat with us later in our holiday, his comment was "oh that guy who phoned you and offered you the upgrade has been sacked" he seemed to miss the point! that "guy" represented the hotel and we, if we had wished could have insisted on the room we had been promised, however mindful of the fact we were on a promo holiday we decided not to pursue the matter. our presentation lasted five hours, this is too long! also I feel that the deal could be explained in a more simple and clearer manner, we were not put under pressure as such but by the latter end of the presentation we were both punch drunk! it was not for us but would perhaps suit others, pick ups both to and from the hotel were straightforward, the Mokka coffee bar was a pleasant area made more appealing because we were given a discount card which covered all the restaurants in the hotel, the Radisson is out on a limb but we found the shuttle bus to be both punctual and reasonably priced, the inference was at both the presentation and quality control meeting that we had a cheap holiday at a five star hotel, in exchange for our time at both meetings, absolutely right! however making excuses for members of staff who promise but dont deliver is not five star treatment!

Room Tip: sea view rooms offer terrific views.

Wonderfully located hotel; great service, very polite staff.

Any problem is taken seriously and fixed immediately, for example, we had a problem with noisy neighbours in the early hours of the morning, staff took the matter into their hands and made sure our sleep was uninterrupted.

The location is not a problem, there are shuttle buses from the hotel, there is no need to hire a car; we could get to any part of Malta at any time we wanted.

And what a view, the best view we have ever had anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a view to the beach if possible.

We stayed there for 7 nights with an 8 month old. All staff were very friendly, very helpful. Our room was wonderful with everything we needed and more. Having a small kitchen and a seperate living area was great. The hotel facilities were also excellent. Also a play area for older chilfren where you can leave your children for a few hours and go for a massage.

My family ( husband, 4 year old daughter and me ) stay during the february half term week. We actually did a timeshare exchange our one bedroom apartment for a 2 bedroom apartment at Golden Sands. We did some research so did know that the resort was a bit out of the way, so hired a car for the week we were there, which we really needed as the resort is isolated.

The weather was not bad compared to UK, the temperature whilst we were there was 15-18c ( it was snowing in the UK at the same time ). My daughter even built sand castles on a near by beach.

The apartment we had was in Sunrise block on the 4th floor; our balcony had a lovely view of the sunset. The apartment decor was a bit dated but very clean. The apartment was cleaned everyday and chocolates were left on our bedrooms. The tvs in bedrooms and living room have been updated to flat screen LCDs, there were lots of channels to choose from. My daughter was very happy to find that Nickleodeon channel and Disney channels were available.

My daughter enjoyed using the Crèche (it isnt that big; size of a living room) in our block and Judith really looked after her. Even though it was half term the Crèche was quiet. There's playmobil toys to play with, colouring activities and the chance to meet kids from other countries. It did give my husband and I to use the Spa at the resort.

The spa treatments were priced very similar to hotel spas in the UK. I had a facial, back massage and a luxury pedicure; the treatments were all done very well. I even had my hair done in the salon and I can say I am very happy with my new look ( went from long hair to a short chic choppy bob ). The indoor pool is a part of the spa; so children are only allowed to swim in it before 12pm and after 7pm. This didn't cause a problem for us; we went in the mornings with our daughter.

As it was the off season not all the bars and restaurants are open. We eat in the Agliolio restaurant a couple of times ( kids eat free before 7pm when 2 adults have dine ). It was casual and quite nice in there, the manager was Irish and very friendly and service there was very good. We tried Flavours on the Saturday night which is buffet style the food was good but the service was poor from our waitress; we felt a bit like second class citizens compared to the locals that dined there, was pretty much left to our own devices.

The Mokka bar did lovely coffees and cakes. We liked sitting out on the terrace in the winter sun. It was a nice place to relax after sight seeing and being out and about.

The Radisson blu Golden Sands is a really good resort for a family holiday. Definitely do not chose it if you want to party and lots of nightlife.

Together with my wife we enjoyed the fabulous radison experience. From the lowest cleaner staff through waiting, reception,to managerial we were welcomed with warmth and smiles.Nothing was too much trouble. The food was.truly hedonistic especially breakfast. Here the choice and quality were memorable. The room superb, bed so comfortable we missed breakfast one morning.Although its situated in Golden Bay it is a Paradise Bay. Room Tip: You should choose a corner room so you get tke benefit of both a sea view and a country view

We were rescued off the Street and placed in a superb one bed apartment overlooking the sea. With half board in a five star restuant for a week. Out of the way but regular buses going to Valletta, Bujibba and the Gozo ferry. We had no qualms about changing our time share from Salina Wharf to the Golden Sands which had an indoor pool which we could use with a gyme, steam room, sauna and a large outdoor pool for the summer. We really looked forward to returning to this hotel after a days sightseeing or shopping. This hotel made us feel like we had won the lottery. Even the other guests were smiling. B&E
