“Relaxing atmosphere and great location”
Reviewed November 18, 2012

I loved the lavish buffets both at breakfast and at lunch time. A hotel with a unique location, breath-taking views, friendly employees. Rooms to the highest standard comparable to any other five star hotel in the world! Our room was spacious with a large bathroom. A positive is the cleanliness found in the room. Keep up the great service! Stayed here with my wife celebrating our wedding anniversary. One negative - the hotel had several areas which needed attention - it seems that water, whether rain water or leakages in a system have stained and marred the beautiful common areas and one just cannot miss them - the maintenance team have to attend these - otherwise one cannot complain on anything else. The pool area and spa are perfect relaxing areas. The various restaurants provide a wide selection from which one is sure to find all that should make one's stay unforgettable. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet location with beautiful sea views and would definitely go again!

Room Tip: For a little extra go for the sea view rooms

Stayed here for with my husband as it was a birthday present. It's a lovely hotel in gorgeous setting and we were very lucky as we had a sea view. I would definitely recommend a sea view as the garden view rooms look out onto scrub land and don't get the sunset. The rooms are very nice but are a little tired in places, for example there were stains on the carpet and the furniture did seem quite dated. Also on the balcony you were only separated by a sheet of opaque glass from other balconies so you were very aware of other people's TVs and conversations. We did have B&B and the breakfasts were very good! The staff were generally very attentive and the sparkling wine was a nice touch. The only other negative was I never found where to get pool towels. The area that had a sign for 'pool towels' was empty and there weren't any staff around to ask. I do realise we stayed out of the typical 'pool' season but there were other people in the same position on this lovely 25 degree day. Perhaps just some more signposts would be sufficient!
All in all though we did have a great stay and as we live in Malta it was great to escape from the hustle and bustle. It is quiet though so for people coming from outside of Malta do be aware of this!

we took a promotional weeks holiday between 9th and 16th of nov 2012.
We were more than a little apprehensive about a hard sell time share pitch, opted for 1 bedroom sea view self catering apartment. We were contacted by mario prior to our departure scheduled sales pitch for sunday morning.Mario called to see us on saturday morning after arriving on friday afternoon and gave us some good tips on where to eat and what to see.On sunday the sales pitch lasted approx 3 hours after doing the sum's we decided we did not want to be tied to prepaying for our holiday's shook hands and walked away. My advice be decisive! if it's for you buy! if not tell them before contracts are drawn up!
Our room was spacious with great views, comfortable bed and sofa bed,two tv's, fridge, microwave,
two ring electric hob dining table four chairs.Giving us the option of cooking a simple meal when tiring of restaraunt food.
Being an early riser, watched the the sunrise above the hills at dawn and admired the seaview while sipping tea from the balcony.
The rarity of a beach in malta is a great attribute to the slightly secluded hotel, regular arriva bus service offering an all day ticket for 2.6 euro will take you anywhere on the island giving the flexibility of getting on and off anywhere helps make this an ideal location and less isolated!
staff very polite and efficient offering 24hour room service.
now for the negatives. The indoor pool is very small. The steam room was covered in a greasy slime.the self catering apt had no extraction system over the cooking hob causing the sensitive smoke alarm to be tripped and hotel security phoning us on three separate occasions to see if the room was on fire.
The all important question would you go again? A definite yes!

Room Tip: enjoy a sea view on the highest floor available to avoid mosquitos.

We have just returned from a week here and it was everything you would expect from a Radisson. The location was a little isolated, but buses ran past the hotel to St. Paul's Bay/Bugibba and Valetta every half hour so sightseeing was easy.
We went on one of these timeshare (sorry, fractioal ownership) deals so the accommodation was ridiculously cheap. Friends said we would be pestered night and day by the reps but the reality was we contacted them on arrival, made an appointment to see them and they accepted our "no thank you". That was it.
The Maltese staff were mixed. The reception staff and porters were a bit up themselves but the cleaning staff were really friendly.
The choice of TV channels was a bit naff - only Channel five and FX in English, but the deli has a free dvd rental section so if you spend time in your room that is the thing to do.
I would thoroughly recommend the place.

Room Tip: We had a north facing room, so no sun, but that didn't seem to matter.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in October 2012. The entire hotel experience was perfect. The staff were attentive and nothing was a problem. The rooms were of an excellent standard, (no "tired" bits) and the facilities at the hotel were brilliant. There was only one fault we could say the entire time we were there and it is that the indoor pool, which is part of the spa area, is closed to children below the age of 16, 7 days a week from midday to 7pm and there is nothing you can do to change that. As we were there in October there were a couple of days when using the outdoor pool was impossible, it was far too cold because they don't heat the outside pools (one day it was raining and another day there was a north wind which was really chilly). Having said that, it is right on the beach and the sea was 24 deg, so apart from the cold windy day we did have that as an option. There is a lift that goes down to the beach so don't be put off that it looks so high up, in fact this made it even better as sitting out in the evening you were looking out across the sea. Just one other comment, you definitely need a car as it is very isolated. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in 2471 and 2472 which had one door that led to both rooms only. As we had both rooms we...

We visited this hotel late October and were very impressed with the hotel itself - but here come the snags. We visited as part of a timeshare-presentation paackage [ we knew all the pitfalls and were well-prepared]. To anyone new to this kind of holiday package PLEASE READ ALL THE SMALL PRINT ON THE 'TERMS AND CONDITIONS' BEFORE AGREEING TO ACCEPT THE DEAL. If you don't, you could easily find yourself paying a hefty price for your 'cheap holiday'. We met a couple who unfortunately were made redundant after signing for holiday ownership and had to cancel their commitment - they got out of it, but it cost them nearly £1,000 for their 'cheap' holiday!

The sales staff are very efficient, helpful and pleasant [we could not fault our interviewer, Ainsley, but they are out to sell you holiday ownership and that is their single focus - the 'senior man' who comes in to make you a 'once in a lifetime' offer will not bother with any frills and unless you go on holiday prepared to part with a three-figure sum deposit even for a basic studio for ONE week per year, you will be treated to either heavy pressure [witnessed being experienced by one elderly couple] or being kept an interminably long time before they finally [five hours in our case] concede that you do not wish to buy - even though they will reassure you at the beginning that 'there will be no pressure to buy, they don't need to because the hotel sells itself'. When we declined, he jumped up, melodramatically snatched the paperwork from the desk and made a very noisy show of balling it up and throwing it on the floor and stomping out - don't know who he thought he was impressing, but it certainly wasn't us and even if I had been wavering, his sales manner would not have persuaded me in his company's favour. So Azure , I would have a quiet word with this individual and advise him that this kind of tactic will NOT wash with potential British buyers - he undid all Ainsley's good work. We were quite impressed with the company product, it was just not for us in our current financial position, and Ainsley graciously conceded this - this is the mark of a true salesman - the other feller was just an arrogant fool as far as I am concerned.

Having said this, I will move onto the hotel itself. beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean [well done to all the cleaning staff - excellent] beautiful grounds well tended, breathtaking views, good facilities including shop, while a little on the expensive side, good range of products. Aglioli restaurant - nice food but fell at first hurdle - my husband was brought the wrong meal after a wait of almost 15 minutes for the starter. the restaurant was not busy, so this was rather disconcerting. All the tables were wobbly because of the floor design - rather curiously the walkways were smooth polished quartz/marble, but the seating areas were small rough cut squares of limestone , which were uneven therefore tables were constantly wobbling - staff resorted to tearing up bits of beer mat/cardboard to stabilise them!!!!

I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak and received one which was more rare than medium, but like my hubby was beginning to lose the will to live so just got on and ate it. Memo to self - up your cooking grade unless you really like raw beef in the Med. We both had tirimasu for dessert and this time they got it right. It was a delightful concoction with just the right amount of coffee and marsala wine - very smooth to the palate - loved it. We received a 20% discount card to use in the bars and restaurants but the bill still came to a hefty 57 euros for a quite basic meal [ I large beer and I Sprite included]. Whilst passable, I would not consider this 5- star food.

We visited the breakfast buffet once, which was, in my view over-priced at £15 per person, as it was very standard fare and the bacon. like most med hotels was lamentably undercooked- had to ask for it to be re-cooked. Again - hardly 5* standard.

The other food establishment we visited was Pebbles Restaurant which is behind the private beach [ you cannot use the discount card in this restaurant/cafe]; my husband had mini=-burgers and chips and I had a crispy cod fillet on foccacia. This was quite simply the worst snack food I have ever had the misfortune to eat - not cheap either at 15 euros for the two- and I would advise anyone to avoid like the plague!! The African waiter, Salvo was very pleasant. courteous and helpful but the food was lamentable. My husband was very clear that he did not want any sauce, relish, gherkins, mayonnaise or ANYTHING other than the bread bun and burgers - it came slathered with a very sickly cheese [like American Cheeze Whiz] - and got sent straight back - we watched a heated debate between Salvo and the man behind the counter and could clearly see that Salvo was insisting that the counter assistant had been told this - offering his notepad as evidence - again there were histrionics and very bad grace and another 10 minute wait for a replacement. Now if this passes for 5* service in the Raddisson chain, it will be a long, long time before we grace its doors again!!!

All the staff are very proud to tell you that the hotel was opened by HM the Queen and about all the football players, stars and celebrities who have either stayed or own time there - but I couldn't help thinking that if they had received the standard of service we received in the food areas the hotel would not be keeping its reputation!

All in all I would say that if you want to use the Radisson as a 'pied a terre' or you are some kind of recluse/ celebrity who wants to stay in your apartment and order room service, I frankly wouldn't bother - you can find better in St Julian's or Sliema.

My wife and I recently enjoyed a most enjoyable holiday in Radisson Blu Resort. The accommodation was luxurious and was extensively serviced every day. The balcony faced the morning sun. Breakfast on the balcony was a treat and a half. There was a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious, comfortable living and sleeping area. Food and facilities in the hotel were second to none. Staff in all areas of the resort left nothing to chance. They were friendly and attentive at all times and provided a high standard of service in all areas.
This was a "promotion" break at a great price thanks to Paula at Euphoria Holidays but nevertheless we received the same level of attention and service as those regular guests.
There is a fantastic and regular public bus service from the hotel to everywhere else on the island at. Day tickets at 2 euro 60. There was a complimentary taxi to and from the airport. And of course fine weather except for a fairly rough thunderstorm on an evening!!! We will return if we can ever afford it. What more could you ask for.
