Description: Open for Dinner. Commando is a restaurant and wine bar housed within a 300-year old stone building that has been the workplace of our forefathers for over 80 years. Chef Damian Ciappara draws inspiration from his surroundings, using fresh local ingredients to create simple yet elegant dishes. We work closely with local producers to deliver a seasonally influenced menu that celebrates Mediterranean flavours. Fresh fish/seafood, tender meats, sun ripened vegetables, rustic pasta dishes, and homemade desserts.

We booked this place online although perhaps a little late (at around 6pm). When we arrived, the head waitress didn't have the information about our booking, but checked quickly and was able to accommodate us despite the place being very busy and pretty full. We suggest to call this place if you want to book a table.

We shared local cheeselets for starter and for mains we had a sea bass and a Maltese rabbit stew. All washed down with some nice local Chardonnay. We loved the food, the cheeselets were cooked to perfection: crispy on outside and soft on the inside. The rabbit and sea bass were cooked very well, well seasoned too and had a subtle taste. The rabbit was soft and almost melting in the mouth.

The service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive. Very friendly staff.

The restaurant is located very well in the main street and next to the old Millieha and has great ambience. We had a great evening and plan to come back again.

We stayed inside (believe it or not, even though it was July it was breezy and fresh outside) but the the interior decor is nice. We had good food, not a lot o choices but all enticing dishes. We spent reasonably: good marks!

Absolutely gorgeous location, with food to match and really friendly staff. The portions are very generous and cooked perfectly. We had the calamari and the scallop and prawn ravioli to start, followed by sea bass and rabbit, loved every bite! I'd recommend booking to get a seat outside, so you can admire the view over the bay as you eat!

We ate here on our first night in Mellieha and were not disappointed. Initially we asked to sit outside but as they were very busy and we had not booked they couldn't accommodate us for at least 40 minutes. We chose to sit inside and this probably was the best decision - a table near the door taking advantage of the nice weather but in the lovely indoor surroundings.

The service was professional and staff attentive but not over the top. The food was excellent - a good choice, reasonably priced for the quality with a good choice of wines. Do try the Maltese wines. The chocolate fondant was superb.

Our only meal out on holiday was at Commando and it was an excellent choice.
The service was spot on from start to finish and we were well attended throughout.
On initial inspection the food looked expensive when compared to the wine but when each course arrived it was perfectly cooked and the most generous portions you could imagine.
I can highly recommend the scallop and prawn ravioli starter and, if you've room by the end, the melting chocolate pudding is rather special!
