We have just returned from 10 days at the Maritim, we had a room (154) in the main building overlooking the garden and pool area we booked a deluxe room so loads of space. Bathroom, fixtures and fittings were all above average and did not look tired at all. We used the roof top pool as there were fewer children up here so a lot quieter and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas.

We stayed B&B loads of choice at breakfast fresh fruit, cereals, croissants, bacon, eggs etc. We always found it fresh and hot and in good supply. There are some lovely restaurants in the village I can't recommend Gussippies highly enough (turn left up the hill just past Chinese). Food, service, atmosphere all fantastic we ate here twice. Also enjoyed The Hilltop, surprisingly at the top of the hill on the right.

We hired a car for a few days to see rest of the island and went over on the ferry to Gozo which takes 20mins. Parking wise we didn't even venture in to the garage, park on the road that goes down the side of the hotel and over the little valley - its free.
All in all a great hotel, friendly staff - would defiantly return for guaranteed sunshine.

The Antonine is a really good hotel if you want somewhere, clean, quiet and relaxed. We had a very spacious room (two adults, one child) with a view of the garden. TV, coffee maker, secluded balcony. Two comfortable chairs, small table, small desk. Wardrobe/drawers. The bathroom was fairly standard - bath with shower over, toilet, basin, hairdryer. All airconditioned when you're in the room.
The hotel is split on two sides of the road connected by a tunnel. We did notice that some rooms might be less desirable - there are a few that open onto the atrium, for instance, and at least one right next to a road.
We were on half board and the buffet was always very good. Soup, salads, usually two pasta dishes, three other hot dishes, vegatables, half a dozen cold desserts and a cheesboard. Quality was very good indeed- not the congealed, unappitising buffet I've seen elsewhere. The main dishes were not self-service, but you could have as much as you want and come back for more. On Saturday there was a barbeque. The (seperate) pizza restaurant does a good pizza, and half-board customers get an allowance (I think 12 Euros?) there as an alternative to the buffet. A pizza costs around 6 to 8 euros - we had lunch there once and it was cheaper than eating at Burger King in Valletta. And far, far nicer....
There are three pools outside of the spa. The rooftop pool is best for kids, they'll be out of the depth in the garden pool. The third pool is indoors and rather univiting, although it does have a jacuzzi-like bath that kids like to sit in. None are huge, they got busy late afternoon, but not overcrowded.
There's a bus stop right outside the hotel (an hour to Valletta, slightly less to Sliema, a few minutes to the beach at Mellieha). There's a bus to Valletta every 15 to 20 minutes. There's a small supermarket aimed at tourists a hundred metres up the main road, and a number of other shops on that road selling essentials like bottled water, postcards and souvenirs. Note most close on Sundays.
Would I recommend the place? Unhesitatingly.

Not such a bad hotel, but a couple of aspects that spoiled our stay here:

1. We booked interconnecting rooms so that we could share with the children, but when we arrived, we were told that no interconnecting rooms were available. The kids had to stay in a room next to us, not the end of the world, but it wasn't the quality family time together that we had expected. Had to spend the week juggling key cards to get from our room to kids room and vice versa.

2. The hotel consists of 2 main buildings. Our room was in the building across the road from the main hotel. To get between main hotel and the 'annex' we had to use 2 lifts and walk through a tunnel. At breakfast time when the lifts were busy, this was a real hassle.

3. Parking is underground, way beneath the hotel and is accessed by a spiral underground driveway. It is near impossible to get a medium sized car up and down the spiral car park access because the radius is so tight. Our car Vauxhall Safira would not make the turn, as it has insufficient steering lock. Even our parents struggled in their tiny Toyota Aygo. There is street parking close to the hotel, but the main street is restricted to 60 minutes stay during the day.

Our rooms were pretty good, although the toilet would not flush and the patio door would not lock when we arrived. Breakfast is very good. Location is good, about 3 minutes drive from Melleiha bay and there are a handful of shops and restaurants in the vicinity.

We returned on 5th Aug, and stayed in room 215, which is in the annex. Room was well decorated, and clean but small. Our aircon was very noisy, but better than having the doors open. Our balcony was over the street, and the noise was unbelievable. So had to have the a/c on overnight.

Apart from that, the hotel was lovely, friendly staff and well set out. We didn't have any problems with the breakfast.

The Pizza restaurant was excellent, as was the room service we recieved - although we did ring Bar 120, who seemed to get things for us quicker than going through room service.

THe walk to the beach was interesting, and didn't try the walk back, caught the bus.

Overall our experience was great and would go back.

Just got back today 4th August, Liked Malta very much and the weather was fantastic and people very friendly, Perhaps it's me but i hated every day at this hotel, It might look like a 4 star from the outside but the rooms (we had 440 over looked the street) are dark and stained, the bathroom stank, the bed sheets felt damp if the air con was left on during the day as it had to be because the temp outside was in the 80's (turned off at night because of the noise the air con made) Lamp shades were stained, stains up the walls. postage size pillows on the bed, sofa smelled of damp. The breakfast was cold (eggs, sausage, beans, etc), and as for the hotel food, beef burger and chips was about all i dared to try, I had room service once, when it arrived it was not covered over (as it should have been). There are so many things i would like to say against this hotel but i'm sure someone will reply and say the opposite. The only good thing i can say is that the staff were very friendly.
I've put a picture of the air con unit on this message so have a look !
Don't knock me for my views, we each have our own opinion and this is mine,
