Modern and comfortable hotel, with excellent choice and variety of cuisine. The all inclusive service was definitely worth while and the service was excellent. Located next to one of the best beaches in malta, and across the road from the major bus route, it is easy to travel to all the major attractions but out of the way enough to not be swamped by tourism. However, the entertainment within the hotel, plus the pool and cocktails kept us in the resort most of the time. The entertainment team were fantastic providing a range of fun activities all day, and were extremely friendly as well as multi lingual. We felt we got a quality holiday for a great price.

There was still work happening while we were staying here and we had a poor first night due problems with our rooms, but it got better after this. We ate in the Chinese restaurant and were lucky to get fresh tuna sushi, very good. We ate out in the evenings, il methna was good and bouquet garnis was fab both up the hill in the town, we used the bus as it is excellent value for money. The beach across the road is very nice and very good for children. We didn't see any animation in the evenings as it had finished the three times we went. The pools are clean, the animation team lots of fun offering different activities. Bar staff mostly brilliant, very good cocktails. We used the gym which was very hot, lots of equipment but not all in great condition. We also had a massage in the spa which was very relaxing, staff very professional.

Holiday Date 4th-11th September 2012 – Sea View Room, Fourth Floor, Room 4320
This is probably the most difficult review I have written so far, as I had already read all the other reviews before we booked and arrived at the Seabank in Malta. It does appear from my observations and experience that there is some truth in the poorer reviews that you may have already read. However, don’t be too put off by this comment as we did have a pretty good holiday - I will try to explain.
The Seabank on first impression does not blow you away as it is now bordered on three sides by roads. At the front is the main coastal road from Mellieha to Cirkewwa (the ferry Terminal to Gozzo) with its roundabout (as it was, outside our bedroom window – but stated as Sea View). To one side and exiting from the roundabout is the presently under construction but in use Mellieha bypass, this continues the full length of the hotel and further continues around the rear of the hotel and above the Cave Bar. It is here on most days you are able to hear and watch the JCB’s etc. at work from the poolside. At one stage I concluded that the level of the music around the pool was increased to deaden the noise of the contractors.
If you have children (aged up to their early teens), like a good safe pool with plenty of activities around it, very good food and a nicely fitted out room then you will love the Seabank. If these are not your principal requirements then you may find issues with the Seabank.
It is rather evident that this Hotel is run principally as a family holiday destination, with loads of activities organised by the ever present and active Animation Team. They try to coax and entice one into joining in on THEIR fun and games. This goes on all day with little respite if you are not interested. Though this hotel is reasonably large, it is not big enough to be able to find quiet areas away from the loud music and particularly the shouting howling and the whistling of the Animation Team, and the people they encourage to do likewise.
A lot a people joined in with the aerobics and volley ball in the large pool and appeared to be having a great time - but this was a small percentage of the people around the pool/s area.
There are three pools, one indoor and two outdoor. The outdoor pools where excellent and catered for all ages, with particularly good areas for the very young to paddle and play. There is also a very long ramp into the main pool which would be very useful, I presume, if you are disabled or the likes. However there is a hand rail that goes alongside this ramp that seems to be a cause of concern for some reviewers. This rail is very visible from outside and alongside the pool but not so obvious when you are swimming about. So could possibly be a problem if you are playing around or not paying attention, as in say, volley ball. The water was maintained well and was a lovely warm temperature, the nonslip surface was very good and not an issue as others have mentioned. There are stacks of available and very nice sunbeds and plenty of shade if required. The towel station has very nice soft towels which you can change as often as you like – all they ask is you leave a 10 Euro deposit which is return on your departure.
The gardens and grounds are still very much in their infancy and it will be a long while before they reach maturity. There is still evidence of on-going work all around the pools and gardens with remedial work still going on. Most areas are laid with block pavers and kerbstones, some are badly fitted uneven and there are some sharp edges. These are not major items to put right and really should be sorted with the amount people around these areas.
The interior décor of public areas is very bland and could very well be stated to be a bit stark or even canteen like. The very worst areas are the corridors where the doors are cell like and the carpet choice is appalling dirty grey blue colour with numerous stain marks from the very obvious burst pipes or leaks they have had throughout the hotel. Though the rooms are kept to a high standard the corridors are just neglected and could do with replacement carpet or at the very least a shampoo and clean, with a once a week vacuum. The safes in our rooms seemed to be a problem too, with the one in our room requiring five calls to reception before they fixed it. Our fellow travellers safe was not even fastened down, which is not much of a deterrent when you can just pick them up and walk away with it.
All the staff were very efficient and helpful around the hotel with the restaurants running smoothly.
There never appeared to be any issues about available table space or running out of food/drinks as everything was replenished regularly. In the main buffet restaurant the Coral we found that the tables were too close together and there was insufficient lighting outside when eating at night but we thought everything else was of a very good standard. All the drinks were of good quality and tasted nice but as to the alcohol content I couldn’t say, as it was never my intention to get smashed out of my brains every night. I think, if people want all night drinking, then there are other destinations that have made a point of catering for this type of clientele. One should not be looking for this facility in a quite resort/island like Malta.
We tried all the outside restaurants and found them all pretty good but thought the La Vista was the best. If you want loads to drink with your meal ask for a carafe of wine at the Mexican, it’s enormous.
As previously mentioned about the roads I would strongly recommend that you consider not booking a sea view room as the traffic starts early, it’s possibly from the ferry and you soon get fed up sat on your balcony. In my opinion you would be better booking a room that overlooks the pool but was in the block that runs along the side of the sea front road. You will then be overlooking the pools, Cave Bar (that closes in the evenings), further on the hillside, and then unfortunately the roadwork’s but should be far enough anyway to cause you any irritation.
We hired a car for the day from Drifter located in the Hotel lobby. Found the majority of Malta’s roads to be in a shocking state but fortunately not too busy. Medina was the highlight and well worth a visit. Try and find yourself a more appropriate hire company because the car I was given should not have even been on the road.
Though over all our party of four were disappointed with Malta and what it had to offer we grew to liking the Seabank, warts and all. Unfortunately, the things I/We like from a holiday these days were not all in the package the Seabank provided and possibly will never be and reflect in my lower rating. However, if I was rating as family man with children in tow, then no doubt my scoring would be different – if the kids are happy then you will be too.

Room Tip: Book a room that overlooks the pool but is in the block that runs along the side of the sea front ro...

Very mixed reviews when we first booked this hotel, and we almost cancelled and booked somewhere else, but decided to keep an open mind and see for ourselves.

We were aware that the hotel had been totally refurbished and extended (within a faily short space of time). and you could see from the quality of work that things had been rushed. As people had mentioned there were water stains on the ceilings, stains on the carpets, and the furniture used in the bedrooms and around the hotel we felt was cheap looking and not the quality you would expect from a 4 star hotel. The furniture was already showing signs of wear so I dread to think what it would look like in a years time.

The restaurant was very ''canteen like'' and even though they put table cloths on in the evening, ALL the lights were on and was so bright it added no ambience, and made the evening meal not very enjoyable.

On the other hand the outsde tables were very dark in the evening and we felt the addition of some candles would have been a nice touch.

The restaurant was COMPLETLY self service, and not even drinks were served in the evening, the tables were not layed with cutlery for breakfast, only lunch and dinner which didnt make sense to us. Breakfast was good, but lunch and dinner was very hit and miss which some very strange concoctions!

The coloured ''plastic chairs'' used around the pool dining area and in the entertainment dome looked cheap and reminded us of chairs used in a primary school. They just didnt seem to fit in with the rest of the hotel theme.

The quality of cleaning in our room varied from day to day, with some days being better than others, and we had to wait for the lift various times as the cleaners were using it and there was no room for the paying guests (something we have never seen in other hotels of a similar standard)

Im sure you think we sound like snobs, but we stayed in 2 hotels last year with first choice that had been totally refurbished and only been open for a few months, and the quality and standards were far more superiour to the seabank, so hence our disappointment.

The weather was amazing, a great little beach with beautiful waters so plenty of relaxation which is what we went for. Would we go back to Malta!!!!! no....... would we recommend the seabank....... sadly not!

Just returned from a weeks stay at the Seabank in Malta. Stayed there 2 years ago when the hotel was fine, but like others in Mellieha Bay it was starting to look tired. I am a keen diver and the hotel is ideally situated to make the best of diving not only on Malta, but Gozo and Comino as well.

I use a company called Aquaventure just around the bay who I also review.

My travel agent although excellent didn't think to tell us that the Seabank had received a 30 million euro refurbishment. We didn't think to look on line or in a brochure for details of the hotel as having stayed before we thought we knew what we were getting.

What a pleasant surprise when we got off the transfer coach to find the hotel had nearly doubled in size and had been beautifully updated. I thought we had got off at the wrong stop to be honest, the reception has changed so dramatically .

Gone was the old furnishings and layout. The hotel was far more accessible for families, elderly and disabled as some 9 super fast lifts have been installed which now take you direct to which ever wing your on. Previously it seemed a long walk, up a small flight of stairs to a couple of small and busy lifts that were for ever breaking down and another long walk to your room.

When we got to our room we were amazed. We had been given a suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 balconies both with sea views. Later in the day room service arrived with a complimentary bottle of champagne and basket of fresh fruit. Everywhere we went staff congratulated us and wished us the best. There was at least 4 weddings whilst at the hotel during our stay which all looked grand affairs, Scottish dress, bagpipes and professional solo female singer for one example. The hotel has a fantastic buffet, and several other restaurants on site. All inclusive guests can also book meals at a couple of nearby restaurants next to the seafront. I particularly enjoyed the Mexican themed restaurant where you can sample a selection of dishes.

The pool area has been massively expanded and again suitable for all guests.

All in all a fabulous holiday and we would definately return again. The management and staff should be congratulated for their excellent, efficient and friendly service.

One confession we have to make though, it wasn't our honeymoon! We married 4 years ago but apparently our travel agent clicked a box when she made the booking saying honeymoon? When we realised we felt a little guilty at the special treatment we had received but it was a lovely anniversary surprise!

Seabank is a perfect, brandnew hotel (2012).
The quality of the restaurants, bars, pools, animation, spa, services, etc. is excellent!
Besides the restaurants in the hotel, the all inclusive guests are allowed to have dinner in a few restaurants in the neighbourhood.
The hotel is located near one of the few beaches (only 50 meters).

Having visited the Seabank previously and reading reviews during the year I decided to visit the hotel again and see for myself how the changes had affected one of my favourite hotels on the tiny Maltese island.
What a transformation! Over €30 million has been invested into the Hotel, it's size has more than doubled, with the pool and sunbathing area almost tripled. How can a build of this size, completed in just 6 months be opened to the tourists without teething problems? Well, for anyone who has not been to the Seabank before, and been reading reviews on here or on other sites, fear not! The Hotel is amazing, when we were there most issues had been address and by now I would imagine all completed.
My sincere thanks to all the staff for their professionalism and going the extra mile in making all the guests stay so enjoyable.
Particular thanks to Marion and Nadine on reception who are always there to help and will do almost anything to make your stay the best experience possible. Stephen and Mark two brilliant chefs who prepare the most excellent food and mix with the guests freely. If you need a waiter with a difference find Awali at the poolside restaurant who will tirelessly serve you and will always have a smile. In the Coral restaurant much respect and thanks to Roderick the Operations Manager who appears to work 24 hours a day helping the diners. Finally, Hubert, the General Manager whose customer care is second to none and will always have time to speak with guests irrespective of his busy schedule.
The Hotel is fantastic, and I for one will be booking to holiday there next year, book with confidence and if you do need a contact, I've mentioned the names above.
Well done Seabank, impressive start to the season!
