Deana K

My husband and I have just returned from a week's all inclusive stay at the Riviera Resort. We had a really lovely holiday and the weather was hot apart from one spectacular lightening storm! Food was good although a little repetitive after a few days but the puddings were delicious. The staff were all friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome and our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels supplied. With the all inclusive at The Riviera we enjoyed the free access to kayaking and the pedaloes on the small beach nearby and the water aerobics, gym, sauna, jacuzzi etc. The bus service was very reliable and convenient as the hotel is quite cut off. The hotel views were fantastic both from the reception bar and pool area..

Room Tip: we upgraded to a seaview; well worth it

It is a very nice Hotel although has some drawbacks. The worst issue are cats in the outside tables they are so annoying and eating out of the people plates it is disgusting. The service refuses to solve this problem. If someone don't like english breakfast It might also be an issue as you won't get anything else there. I usually liked they lunch and dinner buffet. The pizza was always amazing as well as diffferent kinds of pasta. They could try to make wider choice of hams and fish as for meditarreanian country I would expect more regional dishes. We had ants in our room but as we reported it they quickly got rid of them.

Room Tip: Try not to get room close to the road as it is very busy and loud one.

Just got back from a week holiday here. All inclusive, Weather was great, views from hotel and pool area are fantastic. Rooms cleaned every day with fresh towels daily too.
The food, if you like pork you will be fine, of the 4 days we ate there we had pork 3 of them, sometimes at lunch and dinner. Never tasted such bland atrocious food in my life. We were told they had people in reviewing the food the previous week and it had improved, I dread to think what it was like before. In the end we travelled by bus into the town for meals.

We have just returned back for the hotel, Had a lovely time clean pool area no rush for sunbeds. The food here is not good pork, beef, fish everyday salad very limited and had trouble getting a table for dinner and they never had tables ready for four people. I would like to thank ivon for making my bday very speical with a birthday cake and lovely cocktail...Bless him.
You will find some of the staff very nice but you do get alot of them snappy at you until they get to know you. Location is great for Gozo and bus service great you will need this because the hotel is very out of the way from anywhere but great to relax. I would return but when they have done something about the food and some of the staff attiude. The hotel needs a bit of a re-vamp aswell.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by very helpful and cheerful staff at the reception who allocated our rooms before time We were tagged up with our A.I wrist bands and made our way to rooms 363 and 360 the corridors have an array of different musty smells from the worn out carpets, the rooms are avarage and not 4* It was clean but the bathroom tiles were a bit grubby. the towels were changed each day. the maid only tidied the top cover on the beds but never straigtend the sheets until they were changed once a week. During our two week stay we got locked out of our room nine times at different times of the day and night that required me to go to reception to get the keys programmed some times it took several attempts that meant a trip to reseption each time and sometimes having to wait for an engineer to get us into the room.
We were offered tickets for an Affrican themed evening at the outside hotel bar for 7 euros per head to A.I guests. we took up the offer and found out that the entertainment was funded by the EEU. We wondered what we had paid for as we were A.I.
I returned to our room one day to find our door had been left wide open by the cleaner. that was the last straw so I wrote a letter of complaint to the manager but got no response from him or any other staff member.
Putting all the negatives asside the hotel is situated in a quite location with fantastic veiws across the sea overlooking Comino and Gozo.
The meals and the drinks are realy good with a decent choice each day, The resteraunt and bar staff are typcal of the Maltise people Very friendly and helpful especially Karen Joe and the twins.
The bus stop is just outside the hotel and run every 15 minutes where you can get to any detination in Malta you can buy a weekly Arriva bus ticket at the hotel shop for 12 euro per week this gives you unlimited travel on the comfortable air conditioned buses that run until late.

Room Tip: dont get a room at the rear close to the road as it can be a bit noisywith trafic when the ferry doc...

First time to Malta, so booked an all inclusive hotel. The hotel is at the furthest point on the island from the airport, the transfer took about 45 minutes with Debtrans a local taxi firm, although some other guests had twenty minute rides from hell with some other taxi companies. We were there for the last week in September. I was a bit worried before we left as we read the recent reviews of the hotel, that were a bit negative. We went as a family, Dad, Mum and two seventeen year olds. The hotel is isolated, sitting on its own, there is therefore no where to walk to in the evening to try something else, although the bus stops directly outside and is very regular. And the Gozo ferry is walkable, and ferries to the Blue Lagoon stop outside. The hotel has a number of restaurants and bars, at which the service was good. I could understand why the reviews may have been a little negative in the summer holidays, as there may have been more queues with no where else to go. The hotel was immaculately clean everywhere, and staff made every effort to keep it that way; particularly Igor in the swimming pol bar. The pools are Sea Water Pools, but I wouldn't expect anything else on an island that does not have enough drinking water for the population and has to desallinate what they drink and use. The food was plentiful and of a high standard, with plenty of variety. You would not go hungry here. We booked a PADI open water diving course for the seventeen year olds at the H20 diving centre, which is attached to the hotel. This was excellent and I would highly recommend them. If you are considering a course in diving this is a good hotel to stay as you are next to the sea and there would be no early morning transfer.
I saw a picture of someone feeding cats on this site and other pictures of the hotel that are unfair, I never saw anyone other than tourists feeding any cats on the island. This is a good hotel that tries hard, but if you want to go out in the evening try a different location on the island.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea, the views at the back of the hotel are a road and barren fields.
