LABRANDA Riviera Premium Resort & Spa

We stayed at the Rivera at the start of September for an all inclusive family holiday. Overall, the hotel was excellent. Hotel was clean with two good sized swimming pools BUT very salty! Our room was lovely, cleaned everyday and spacious with air con, tv, wardrobe and dressing table. The hotel has a shop, 3 bars on site and one near the beach which is 1 min walk away. The food in the restaurant was really good, they had fresh fish everyday which was sooooooo nice and a good selection of mains, starters, puddings and sides. Food is aimed at adults but my daughter (3) still ate what was there and the staff will make children chicken nuggets and chips. They also had a new pizza place where you could have dinner. Not much selection there but nice for a change. Staff are so friendly, especially the man who waits outside in the main restaurant and the lady at the reception bar! All inclusive drinks were soft drinks, local beer & wines, 2 non alcoholic cocktails and 4 alcoholic cocktails and some spirits. My other half said the beer was nice but not exactly strong and would say the same about the cocktails. The entertainment was ok, singing every night, the guys who look like they cant sing for toffee were actually the best ones!! There was a kids club but all info about the club and the kids club workers were all German, so we didnt understand how it worked! There wasnt many children there and not very much for children to do. The kids club staff were friendly and i liked that they were based on poolside where parents could see what they were doing but the only thing I saw them do was colouring in which we joined in with once.

The hotel location is quiet, there is one more hotel along the road and the beach bay but thats it. The sun loungers by the beach are for use by the other hotel guests which was a bit annoying. But sunloungers for Riviera guests were a bit further along, just not on the beach. The sea is lovely - clear, warm and shallow!

We took the Blue Lagoon trip opposite the hotel which is cheap and about 10/15 mins away by boat. If you go here I would recommend you go early as it was absolutely packed. The sea is beautiful but there is not much space for the amount of people who were there. We also took the Gozo ferry which was 20 mins walk away, again very cheap - around 4 euros per person return. If you go there would recommend planning what you do beforehand (unlike us!) as there's not much at the other end near the port apart from a few restaurants. We also went to Selima for the day via bus. The bus stop is just outisde the Riviera and the bus was 2 euros 60 for return ticket for the day and free for children. If you get travel sick I do not recomend you take the bus, and then sit at the back!!!! Selima was nice, it has 2 shopping centres (which arent very well signposted, thank god for Google maps!) with plenty of good shops and cafes.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view or you may end up looking out over the brambles!

Visiting Malta for the first time with friends for a reunion, it was decided that the best idea would be to take an all inclusive package and the hotel was booked online from the UK at pretty reasonable rates. The hotel is at the north end of the island (close to the Gozo ferry) and the nearest "town" is Mellieha Bay which is about a 5 to 10 minute bus trip away. The hotel was pretty much as expected. It's billed as a 4 star, but that's a little optimistic in my opinion. Reception staff on arrival was very good. There is no-one to help with luggage, so dragging cases through a revolving door after a longish flight is a bit annoying. To cut costs, the hotel employs a single person in the bar who is expected to take orders, make drinks, deliver drinks to the tables and to collect the glasses. In the front bar, the hotel employed a gem named Karen who managed that whole process efficently and with a smile - from 0800 to midnight!! Apparently, bar personnel at the pool were not so friendly nor so efficient. Rooms were slightly jaded, but the showers worked, the water was hot enough and there was decent pressure. Altogether, the hotel was adequate if you agree with the maxim that you get what you pay for.

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at this hotel and were looked after very well, The hotel is very isolated from the main town, and should really be listed as Marfa, instead of Melieha, but we found this to be a good feature, as you are secluded when you want to be, with fantastic views, but you can easily reach anywhere on the Island via the frequent buses which stop almost outside the hotel. The hotel is opposite the jetty which takes you to the blue grotto, and walking distance from the Gozo ferry, The staff are very friendly and the food is quite varied, The rooms are comfortable, entertainment quite good, and the 3 pools are very good. All in all our stay there was very relaxing and i would return with no worries.

This hotel does not offer value for money, it is grimy and scruffy; Dirty carpets, broken tiles, greasy windows, saltwater pool way too salty. Food and drinks are average at best, TERRIBLE packed lunches, spartan rooms. We took a picture of one of the cockroaches we encountered. No town or shops, location only handy to escape to Gozo. The Rambla resort nextdoor is a hundred times better

Our stay was enjoyable, however there were a few things that could have made this stay more pleasant. Considering the hotel was far from full, the room that we were given had a balcony just to the side of a dusty and noisy road, which was the main road off the Gozo Ferry which meant it went on all night, making the balcony very dirty. The need to refurbish the hotel was very evident. However, this wouldn't stop us from coming back again as we felt that the service and friendly staff more than made up for this. The food at the main hotel resturant was very nice but breakfast was quite repetitive. THE POOL HAD PLENTY OF SUNBEDS TO CHOOSE FROM AROUND BOTH POOLS WHICH WAS EXCELLENT. The spa was very good. I had a mini facial and my eyebrows shaped and this was amazing. The only improvement that I could say for the spa was that they had bright yellow walls which were meant to be relaxing. They did have some decorations to try to make it more ambient but they were out of view for the client. Other than that the pool was amazing and the food at the bistro was very good and I would definitely come back after the renovation. We were all inclusive and this meant that you got 20% off at the bistro.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the main road because it is dirty and noisy.

Please note I had a very distressing time using these facilities. I booked for an eyelash and eyebrow tint including shaping. The young lady obviously had little experience in this field .. firstly my eyelashes did not colour at all. She used the excuse that they were fair (in colour) to start with hence the reason they did not look any different!!! This is rubbish because I have them tinted regularly in the UK with no problems whatsoever. She told me that she had been doing this for 8 years, but her method and results did not hold true.

The worst part was that she tinted wide strips above my eyes on and around my existing eyebrows and by the time she had finished I looked an absolute mess. I burst into tears asking her to try to sort it but there was nothing she could do because she had stained my skin as well as my eyebrow hair (plus more). I went back to see them the next morning, I received a full refund and they were full of apologies but they could not do anything to put it right. The other staff member (beautician ?????) said she could not pluck any of the hair away because it could make matters worse as that area was now very sensitive. How could it be any worse???? I shut myself in my room much of the time for the remaining few days of my holiday. Other holiday makers at the hotel could not believe what they had done to me and decided to stay well clear of their 'beauty treatments'.

PLEASE STEER CLEAR OF THE BEAUTY TREATMENTS OFFERED AT 'ELYSIUM HEALTH & WELLNESS' (situated at this hotel) AND WAIT UNTIL YOU RETURN HOME SO THAT YOU CAN GET A SAFE AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE.

I give them a zero rating!

Clean hotel and lovely pool area. The beach area is lovely and quiet. Food is good, as expected for buffet. Suitable for couples, not groups of people wanting nights out!

The area is fairly quiet but meiliha is only ten minutes by bus (buy a week saver for 12 euros)

The rooms are basic, but with everything you need, although i don't think they were any double rooms, onlt twin rooms

Drinks are all local brands (in all inc.) and last bar is open til 12.30. There are 4 bars (inc. beach) and two all inc restaurants and two to pay (inc. beach)
