We stayed at the Ramla Bay hotel for one week in mid October and we were very impressed. Firstly I have a special diet as I'm dairy and gluten intolerant; this was not a problem for the staff in the kitchen. The chefs were fantastic and catered for my diet to fit in with whatever was on the menu that day. We could not fault the staff at any stage. The outdoor pool was great, a bit cold, but once you got in and started swimming, it wasn't a problem! Well, it was mid October, so we were not expecting tropical temperatures!

Bar staff were great and put up with our late night antics! Only one little criticism, the entertainment was not varied over the week, very similar from night to night; however, we enjoyed the singing and the music, and we were engaged in socialising at the bar, so, it didn't really matter, it was just background entertainment.

The hotel is very near to the ferry terminal for Gozo, so it was very handy for the crossing! Also near to the bus stops.

We would definitely go again. Thanks to all the staff.

Room Tip: See views are great.

We stayed a week here in early october, and having read lots of reviews thought that this would suit us.
Our transfer dropped off at a good few hotels before finally reaching ours, and I felt confident that this hotel looked the best from the outside.
We were pleased with our room, albeit a bit on the small side, nice and clean. The bathroom a bit shabby but again clean. Lucky we were there in October as the air conditioning was utterly useless, but we managed. They do not change bath towels and linen everyday, as testified by a make up stain on a towel I inadvertently caused. They do fold them up to make it look like they have though.... I think a kettle would be nice in a 4star hotel frankly.
The outdoor pools were freezing, but the indoor pool lovely. I usually like to swim in the sea but didn't fancy swimming through the rubbish so abandoned this idea. The beach, covered in cigarette stubs and rubbish and a rather poor effort at clearing away the seaweed could occasionally be observed. I would rather they left the seaweed and sorted the litter.
The bus stop is indeed a five minute walk. We went all the way to Valetta on the bus which took just over an hour and as we were one of the first stops on the circuit had a seat the whole way there, but we were in the minority. There were numerous tales from other guests of waiting for two hours or so at bus stops, but we managed to escape this. I'm not sure I'd fancy driving as the local drivers are crazy! You can walk to the Gozo ferry from this hotel, 10-15 minute walk. Great speed boat trip from the hotel to comino, loved that.
The real disappointment from this hotel was the food. Ok there was a massive selection but it all tasted the same - i.e. of nothing. We were astonished to note that the only way to discern what meat made up a dish was reading the label since in the mouth the taste buds could not isolate it, which was quite surprising. Salad was limp and brown edged. Puddings fluorescent and flavourless. Even the icecream - always three different colours, never three different flavours. I HATE strawberry icecream, but could eat this, didn't taste of strawberry at all! The grill occasionally yielded some better results on the days the meat wasn't overcooked The one exception to the blandfest was the rabbit stew - delicious.
Staff a bit moody and disinterested, but I think that's just the maltese generally!
We liked the remote nature of the location, but if you want to be within easy walking distance of some shops/nightlife this is not for you.

Expected something special after reading the reviews here, but it was all very average and therefore not really worth the money. True it is very clean, and the pools are lovely, but it lacks character and is very remote. You have to do half-board at a minimum really as there is only one other decent place to eat in walking distance unless you get the ferry to Gozo. All you can eat buffet-style dining is a bit repetitive after a couple of days and you need to be a fan of the cold vegetables, overdone meat for tea and underdone bacon for breakfast to really appreciate it. Air-conditioning didn't work in the room, but fortunately didn't need it in October. It is very remote and the surrounding area is roadworks and concrete unless you look resolutely out to sea. The evening entertainment was atrocious. Other than listening to a string of different people with their electric keyboards, there is very little else to do -one table-tennis table and one pool table to fight over. Take a pack of cards, a couple of good books lots of interesting friends and you'll be ok. Also be prepared for twin beds when you book a double.

Room Tip: Get a seaview.

U need a sea view room as the view from the back is not nice. Small sandy beach is very calm brill for our young ones. Free canoes etc if AI. Very clear water nice for swimming. Good location as remote ish but because of it's remoteness not Blackpool in the sun!!!! Bus runs regularly and easy to navigate we hired a car to look round a couple of places worth the effort but overall we were not impressed with the island. Very dirty no money invested in it and run down. Cud be really nice with a bit if TLC!!! If u have kids the hotel is well situated as a few places to visit r nearby plus the trips to blue lagoon leave from outside the hotel. Rooms in the hotel r large and modern and clean. Small tv with two uk channels fridge and slow hair dryer. Food is excellent with a good choice and quick service. All staff helpful and friendly. Wud recommend the hotel.
